Propagation Delay Modeling and Implementation of DGPS beacon signal over the Spherical Earth

  • This paper presents the ASF(Additional Secondary Factor) modeling of DGPS beacon signal. In addition to DGPS's original purpose, the feasibility to utilize DGPS system for timing and navigation has been studied. For timing and navigation, the positioning system must know the accurate time delay of signal traveling from the transmitter to receiver. Then the delay can be used to compute the user position. The DGPS beacon signal transmits the data using medium frequency, which travels through the surface and cause the additional delay rather than the speed of light according to conductivities and elevations of the irregular terrain. We introduce the modeling of additional delay(ASF) and present the results of implementation. The similar approach is Locan-C. Loran-C has been widely used as the maritime location system and was enhanced to E-Loran(Enhanced Loran). E-Loran system uses the ASF estimation method and is able to provide the more precise location service. However there was rarely research on this area in Korea. Hence, we introduce the ASF and its estimation model. With the comparison of the same condition and data from the original Monteath model and ASF estimation data of Loran system respectively, we guarantee that the implementation is absolutely perfect. For further works, we're going to apply the ASF estimation model to Korean DGPS beacon system with the Korean terrain data.

시간영역 유한차분법을 이용한 실내 전파 채널 모델링 (Indoor Propagation Channel Modeling Using the Finite Difference Time Domain Method)

  • 실내 전파 채널 해석은 고전적으로 경로추적법이 많이 이용되었으나, 이 논문에서는 3차원 전파해석법인 시간영역 유한차분법을 이용하여 3차원 실내 구조에 대하여 채널 모델링하였다. 시간영역 유한차분법의 여기신호로는 평면파를 이용했으며, 이 때의 평면파의 구성은 TF/SF법을 사용했다. 그리고 흡수경계조건으로는 7개의 흡수층을 사용한 완전정합층법을 이용했다. 실내 채널 모델링의 시뮬레이션을 위한 거실은 벽돌, 도체, 유리, 콘크리트로 이루어졌다. 거실에 가구가 있는 경우와 없을 때에 대하여 각각 시뮬레이션 하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과로 실내 전파 환경에서의 다중경로에 의한 페이딩 현상을 확인할 수 있었으며, 수신기 설계에 도움이 되는 초과지연 평균과 실효 지연 확산을 계산할 수 있었다.

  • The modeling of accurate timing in storage elements of ASIC cell library was studied. The propagation delay time of clock signal affects the critical time and this can cause malfunction in the chip designed in synchronous. In this paper, an analysis on the effect of input slope of clock signal in timing modeling were carried out. For the first time, in ASIC design, the design guides that can be used in both $0.6{\mu}M$ and $0.8{\mu}m$ design rule were offered, reducing the run time of SPICE and the time of cell library development.

  • This paper presents millimeter-wave (mmWave) propagation characteristics and channel model parameters including path loss, delay, and angular properties based on 28 GHz and 38 GHz field measurement data. We conducted measurement campaigns in both outdoor and indoor at the best potential hotspots. In particular, the model parameters are compared to sub-6 GHz parameters, and system design issues are considered for mmWave 5G Giga communications. For path loss modeling, we derived parameters for both the close-in free space model and the alpha-beta-gamma model. For multipath models, we extracted delay and angular dispersion characteristics including clustering results.

  • This paper presents a simple method to estimate short-circuit power dissipation and propagation delay for static CMOS logic circuits. Short-circuit current expression is derived by accurately interpolating peak points of actual current curves which is influenced by the gate-to-drain coupling capacitance. The macro model and its expressions estimating the delay of CMOS circuits, which is based on the current modeling expression, are also proposed after investigating the voltage waveforms at transistor output modes. It is shown through simulations that the proposed technique yields better accuracy than previous methods when signal transition time and/or load capacitance decreases, which is a characteristic of the present technological evolution.

  • One of the major sources of error in precise GPS positioning since the turn-off the Selective Availability(SA) is the ionospheric propagation delay. For the last decades, a lot of the ionospheric researches based on a GPS network have been implemented throughout the world. Especially researches of the ionospheric modeling for Wide Area Argumentation System(WAAS) have been undertaken and published. In mid-latitude regions, typical spatial and temporal variations in ionospheric models delay tend to minimal. The developed ionospheric model calls for a 1.25 degree grid at latitudes and a 2.5 degree grid at longitudes. The precise grid TEC estimated by the inversion technique is also compared with global ionosphere maps(GIMs) which have been provided by several analysis centers(ACs). The results of initial investigations into the suitability of the proposed ionospheric modeling scheme in north-east Asia are presented.

  • 본 논문에서는 ISM 대역에서의 실내 무선 랜 서비스를 위한 실내 전파 모델을 제시하였다. 실내의 벽과 바닥, 천장에 의해 발생하는 다중경로에 의한 전파의 감쇄 현상은 3차원 광선추적법을 이용하였으며, 실내 집기에 의한 산란현상은 패치산란모델을 적용하였다. 실내 전파 모델의 입력파라미터로는 실내 환경 파라미터와 안테나의 종류 및 편파를 고려했으며, 그 결과로 페이딩 특성과 시간지연확산을 도출하였다. 모델링의 정확성을 검증하기 위해 좁은 실내 공간과 넓은 실내 공간으로 나누어서 각각 페이딩 특성과 시간지연확산을 측정하였고 시뮬레이션 결과와 비교하여 유사함을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과를 통해서 본 논문에서 제시한 실내 전파 모델의 유효성을 확인하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 실내 환경에서 전파의 전달특성을 모델링하기 위해 광선추적법을 이용한 2차원 ray-tracing 시뮬레이터를 구현하였고, 이를 통해 다중 벽면으로 구성된 환경에서 ray의 전파 경로를 분석하고 평가하였다. 실험 결과, 구현된 광선추적법의 경로 패턴 및 시간지연 분포는 동일한 무선 환경에서 수행된 이전의 실험 결과와 비슷한 결과가 나타남을 확인하였으며, 송수신 거리 및 방사각에 따른 수신반경의 조절이 타당함을 확인하였다. 특히 비가시거리 송수신 환경에서 다중 벽면을 투과한 ray가 반사와 투과를 형성하여 수신기에 도달할 때까지의 channel profile은 기존 연구의 실험 결과와 유사함을 확인하였다.

  • A model for BICMOS buffer switching operation is presented, including the influence of bipolar base transit time and collector-base capacitances. A closed-form solution for the propagation delay-time is obtained assuming low level injection and channel velocity limitation. For the high level injection case, the delay-times are numerically obtained using effective current gain. These results are compared with those by HSPICE simulation, which shows good agreement. It is noted that the collector-base capacitance strongly affects the delay-time. The effects of voltage scaling are also investigated, which shows the model can be applied for the reduced supply voltages.
