  • This paper provides a comparison between the Krylov subspace method (KSM) and modal truncation method (MTM), which are typical projection-based model order reduction methods. The frequency responses are compared to determine the numerical accuracies and efficiencies. In order to compare the numerical accuracies of the KSM and MTM, the frequency responses and relative errors according to the order of the reduced model and frequency of interest are studied. Subsequently, a numerical examination shows whether a reduced order can be determined automatically with the help of an error convergence indicator. As for the numerical efficiency, the computation time needed to generate the projection matrix and the solution time to perform a frequency response analysis are compared according to the reduced order. A finite element model for a car suspension is considered as an application example of the numerical comparison.

  • This paper describes comparison and analysis of methodology which enables us in order to search the projection technique of optimum for projection in the plane. For this methodology, we applies the high-dimensional facial motion capture data respectively in linear and nonlinear projection techniques. The one core element of the methodology is to applies the high-dimensional facial expression data of frame unit in PCA where is a linear projection technique and Isomap, MDS, CCA, Sammon's Mapping and LLE where are a nonlinear projection techniques. And another is to find out the methodology which distributes in this low-dimensional space, and analyze the result last. For this goal, we calculate the distance between the high-dimensional facial expression frame data of existing. And we distribute it in two-dimensional plane space to maintain the distance relationship between the high-dimensional facial expression frame data of existing like that from the condition which applies linear and nonlinear projection techniques. When comparing the facial expression data which distribute in two-dimensional space and the data of existing, we find out the projection technique to maintain the relationship of distance between the frame data like that in condition of optimum. Finally, this paper compare linear and nonlinear projection techniques to projection high-dimensional facial expression data in low-dimensional space and analyze it. And we find out the projection technique of optimum from it.

  • The transverse cylindrical projection has been used in Korea since 1910s when the nationwide geodetic network was firstly established. However, the projection has a number of different types of functions according to a way of its mathematical derivation as well as a section of its coefficients and terms, for instance Gauss- Schreiber(GS) and Gauss-Kruger(GK) types. Although the transverse cylindrical projection itself is assigned to a system, projected coordinates would be diverse with respect to the function used in the actual calculation. In order to investigate impact of functions used in the computation, five different equations (i.e., 2 GS and 3 GK) were implemented in this study by using MATLAB. A series of numerical simulation tests has been carried out to compare and characterize them in terms of projection accuracy, difference of projected coordinates and distortion. Furthermore, a comparison between GS and GK function was made under the Korean gridding system, consisting of four zones. Results from the numerical computations were qualitatively analyzed and summarized in this paper.

  • In this paper, we propose a new Modified Filtered-x Affine Projection Sign Algorithm(MFxAPSA) to improve the convergence speed of the conventional MFxAPSA which has been proposed for active control of impulsive noise. Under the impulsive noise environment, the adaptive algorithms based on the second order moment such as the Filtered-x Least Mean Square(FxLMS) show slow convergence speed or diverge because the noise source tends to have infinite variance. The MFxAPSA is the algorithm derived by applying the Affine Projection Sign Algorithm(APSA) to active noise control. The APSA has an advantage that it does not need the calculation for the inverse matrix, so it may be suitable for the active noise control that requires low computational burden. The proposed MFxAPSA also has APSA's advantage and furthermore, better performance than the conventional MFxAPSA. We carried out a performance comparison of the proposed MFxAPSA with the conventional MFxAPSA. It is shown that the proposed MFxAPSA has the faster convergence speed than the conventional MFxAPSA.

  • The Gauge-Uzawa method [GUM] in [9] which is a projection type algorithm to solve evolution Navier-Stokes equations has many advantages and superior performance. But this method has been studied for backward Euler time discrete scheme which is the first order technique, because the classical second order GUM requests rather strong stability condition. Recently, the second order time discrete GUM was modified to be unconditionally stable and estimated errors in [12]. In this paper, we contemplate several GUMs which can be derived by the same manner within [12], and we dig out properties of them for both stability and accuracy. In addition, we evaluate an stability condition for the classical GUM to construct an adaptive GUM for time to make free from strong stability condition of the classical GUM.

  • The approximation properties for $L^2$-projection, Raviart-Thomas projection, and inverse inequality have been derived in 3 dimensional space. h-p-mixed finite element methods for strongly nonlinear second order elliptic problems are proposed and analyzed in 3D. Solvability and convergence of the linearized problem have been shown through duality argument and fixed point argument. The analysis is carried out in detail using Raviart-Thomas-Nedelec spaces as an example.

  • This paper describes a systein which enables a fast 3 -dimensional profile measurement using a slit-ray projection method. One distinctive feature of this system is that a real-time video is processor is employed in order to reduce the amount of image data to be processed without eliminating essential information. Experimental results show that a calibrating method presented for the TV camera and the slit-ray projector is convenient and enables sufficient accurate measurements.

  • This paper proposes a method for producing smooth and positive estimates of the intensity function of an inhomogeneous Poisson process based on the shrinkage of wavelet coefficients of the observed counts. The information projection is used in conjunction with the level-dependent thresholds to yield smooth and positive estimates. This work is motivated by and demonstrated within the context of a problem involving gamma-ray burst data in astronomy. Simulation results are also presented in order to show the performance of the information projection estimators.

  • This paper proposes a method of implementing synthetic stereo and an acoustic echo cancellation algorithm for multiple participant conference system. Synthetic stereo is generated by HRTF and two loudspeakers. A robust adaptive algorithm for synthetic stereo echo cancellation is proposed to reduce the weight misalignment due to near-end speech signals and ambient noises. The proposed adaptive algorithm is modified version of SMAP algorithm and the coefficients of adaptive filter is updated with cross correlation of input and estimation error signal normalized with sum of the autocorrelation of input signal and the power of the estimation error signal multiplied with projection order. This is more robust to projection order and ambient noise than conventional SMAP. Computer simulation show that the proposed algorithm effectively attenuates synthetic stereo acoustic echo.

  • Depaysement, suggested by the well-known surrealist Rene Magritte, has been used for and applied to many media. Application of depaysement through various media such as TV, commercial, and advertisement, attempted to provide interest by deviation from fixed ideas and visual shock, placing common objects in new and strange environment. The study applied screen projection mapping using a transparent screen and objet for different purposes to projection mapping media, applying depaysement to the artwork 'Illusion' in order to suggest visual pleasure, possibility as a new media, and projection mapping using transparent screen and objet. The work cases were suggested by applying expressive methods and effects according to three classifications - modulation of space, combination of conflicting images, and transformation and change of objects - in depaysement, and analyzed by types based on classification of the layout, typography, image, color, and time. Through 'Illusion,' new objet and characteristics of the media are applied and expanded by using projection mapping and depaysement.
