  • Spatial structures is a appropriate shape that resists external force with only inplane force by reducing the influence of bending moment, and it maximizes the effect of structure system. An economic analysis is one of the most important factors to determine the project feasibility. Large spatial structures project is more need to comprehensive technology than a general construction project. In order to result in success of these project, it is desired that analyze an essential elements(for example, large budget, professional engineer, construction method, etc.) in the whole life cycle of buildings by schematic preparation from the early feasible study steps. We collect the data and analyze construction cost through this study which examines general remarks of existing spatial structures and researches its examples. This study is aimed to apply basic data to establish database the spatial structures.

  • Due to budgetary constraints, national landmarks symbolic of country's power and cultural stature face significant limitations in their creation. Within the current total project cost management system, there are considerable restrictions on constructing cultural facilities with various forms and designs, and there exists a societal need for a design-first administrative system for public buildings that demand artistry and symbolism. This study explores the potential and limitations of applying exceptions to the total project cost management system through the designation of representative artistic architecture. It discusses directions for the implementation of government-level systems. To this end, a literature review on budget management and national project management was conducted, and an analysis of related policy cases both do-mestically and internationally was performed to select applicable examples and consider their implications for policy utilization within the domestic context. The results discuss the necessity of public art building construction, the issues with construction budgets, and the in-volvement of world-class architects. Analytical implications include the need for realistic budget setting for construction projects, establishing clear promotion criteria, and creating a phased process and expert evaluation panel.

  • Resource procurement is an important management area because cost of resource covers 40% of total construction project cost and resource delivery has direct relationship with project performance. Integration of cost provides various potentials for effective and efficient project control. This study investigates the usefulness of time in resource procurement management focused on materials. These days, construction projects have characterized manufacture because of industrialization and component. Therefore, application of systematic resource planning has been requested in the construction. There are many companies conducting procurement of resource on the web by applying MRP, ERP etc. in the construction. However, in applying them in the construction yet, there is obstruction. MRP has the character doing its function under accurate cost prediction of resource. But prediction of resource is difficult in industry mechanism of the construction. If accurate cost prediction of resource is possible in the construction, it will be expected to reduce cost of procurement of resource substantially by applying successful resource planning model in the manufacture. On the basis of recent current, the purpose of study is to present procurement of resource system that period observance of construction and minimization of stock is possible by reflecting accurate lead-time to apply proactive thought to be able to cope with alteration of construction schedule efficiently in analyzing resource planning of the construction site.

  • The project schedule risk in the engineering and facility construction industry is increasingly considered as important management factor because the risks in terms of schedule or deadline may significantly affect the project cost. Especially, the project-based operating companies attempt to find the best estimate of the project completion time for use at their proposals, and therefore, usually have much interest in accurate estimation of the duration of the projects. In general, the management of projects schedule risk is achieved by modeling project schedule with PERT/CPM techniques, and then performing risk assessment with simulation such as Monte-Carlo simulation method. However, since these approaches require the accumulated executional data, which are not usually available in project-based operating company, and, further, they cannot reflect various schedule constraints, which usually are met during the project execution, the project managers have difficulty in preparing for the project risks in advance of their occurrence in the project execution. As these constraints may affect time and cost which role as the crucial evaluation factors to the quality of the project result, they must be identified and described in advance of their occurrence in the project management. This paper proposes a Bayesian Net based methodology for estimating project schedule risk by identifying and enforcing the project risks and its response plan which may occur in storage tank engineering and construction project environment. First, we translated the schedule network with the project risks and its response plan into Bayesian Net. Second, we analyzed the integrated Bayesian Net and suggested an estimate of project schedule risk with simulation approach. Finally, we applied our approach to a storage tank construction project to validate its feasibility.

  • Korea government promote renewable energy as the core of their energy matrix to break the dependence and reduce greenhouse effects. This study analyzes the economic assessment of Solid Refuse Fuel project in urban area, considering the marginal external costs of air pollution in this area. Assessment index defined as costs (i.e., construction cost, operation cost) and benefit (margin, external cost) data which is located in Sudokwon landfill site. The result indicates that cost-benefit analysis of SRF is calculated as 1.0. In addition, SRF project is very sensitive about electric power selling price, operating cost and labor cost according to inflation rates. This study shows that the sustainability of SRF project is required the government financial support like investment funds as well as policy support. Variability analysis of SRF economic assessment due to renewable energy can be used for making policies in various fields such as waste and public energy field.

  • For stationary 1kW-class fuel cell systems to be used widely, it is essential to achieve dramatic improvements in system durability as well as cost reduction. In order to address this engineering challenge, it is important to develop innovative technologies associated with BOP components. According to this background, in 2009, the Korean Government and "Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning(KETEP)" launched into the strategic development project of BOP technology for practical applications and commercializations of stationary fuel cell systems, named "Technology Development on Cost Reduction of BOP Components for 1kW Stationary Fuel Cell Systems to Promote Green-Home Dissemination Project". The objectives of this project are to develop fundamental technologies to meet these requirements, and to improve the performance and functionality of BOP components with reasonable price. The project consortium consists of Korea's leading fuel cell system manufacturers, BOP component manufacturers which technologically specialized, and several research institutions. This paper is to provide a summary of the project, as well as the achievements made through the 1st period of the project(2009~2010). Several prototypes of BOPs - Cathode air blowers, burner air blowers, preferential oxidation air blowers, fuel blowers, cooling water pumps, reformer water pumps, heat recovery pumps, mass flow meters, valves and power conditioning systems - had been developed through this project in 2010. As results of this project, it is expected that a technological breakthrough of these BOP components will result in a substantial system cost reduction.

  • The trend of computerization is significant in Korea even at its beginning stage, especially for governmental administration. However, full-fledged success of computerization in an organization is reported to be rare while the cost of computerization has been high and increasing. This paper is concerned with two features for the successful implementation of a computerized system in an organization selection criteria for the computerization among the possible candidate projects and project selection models. Due to the dearth of literature regarding successful implementation of computerization, other sources of literature with respect to R & D management, method engineering, etc. were reviewed to develop a set of factors influencing successful computerization. Thus, project selection criteria for computerization of governmental administration are developed and organized as follows: cost of computerization project including both system development and operating cost, quanitative and qualitative benefits of computerization project, probability of technical and implementation success of computerization and other organizational and political factors to be considered. These criteria are broken down into detailed sets of subcriteria to be measured. To select a project after thorough consideration of the selection criteria, a project selection model which takes into account all criteria together has to be developed. In the study three project selection models are suggested and developed. They are the checklist model, multi-stage cut-off model, and composite criteria model. A detailed procedure for each of the three models is illustrated. Although the project selection criteria and models are developed here primarily for the computerization of governmental administration, they are easily applicable to other settings of computerization. Finally, some caveats for the use of selection criteria and models are discussed.

  • Costs of public rental housing development project consist on various kinds of profits and expenses such as national housing fund, rental cost, construction cost, financing cost. Therefore, project would not be executed without minute management and precise prediction about each item. Cash (low prediction and analysis are necessary to grasp current situation of project, because construction project which is conducted for a long period has fluent risks and inflows and outflows of cash. Although cash flow analysis has been conducted, cash flow has never been expected and managed. General matters to expect cash flow can be known by actual results and literatures. Hut there is no thesis which is studied about risk to enhance precision of expectation of cash flow. As existing thesises studied the risk about whole project, we haven't known precise relations of cash flow and project. Therefore, in this study, we are supposed to analysis and distinguish risk facts which can affect each item of cash flow for precise cash flow expectation and management of public rental housing development project.

  • General contractors' overhead costs are increasing relative to direct costs. However, it is difficult to apply the traditional activity-based costing directly to the construction site overhead costing because the resource consumption rate per each activity is varied depending on the attributes of activities. The research develops a methodology of hybrid cost allocation system when resources are assigned to cost objects unlike the traditional activity-based costing. The study also develops a database program and demonstrates how it can be applied to the construction projects using a case study.
