Recognition and Consumption for the Health Functional Food of College Students in the Northern Gyeonggi-do Area (경기북부지역 대학생의 건강기능식품 인식 및 섭취 실태 조사)

  • This study was conducted to assess the recognition and consumption of health functional food (HFF) of the college students in the Northern Gyeonggi-do area (Republic of Korea). To accomplish this, a survey was conducted to investigate 360 college students (183 males and 177 females) regarding their general characteristics, as well as the recognition, knowledge, considerations, purchases and consumption of HFF. Most male and female students (68.9% and 61.6%, respectively) were unaware of the HFF certification mark, however, more females(58.8%) were aware of the legal HFF definition compared to males (36.6%). The HFF advertising routes for males and females were 'TV radio' (43.2% and 43.5%, respectively) and 'internet smart phones' (19.7% and 27.1%, respectively). The main factor considered for selection and the most serious problem concerning HFF by males and females were 'effectiveness' (36.1% and 43.6%, respectively) and 'hype (exaggerated advertisement)' (35.0% and 55.9%, respectively). The main purchase route by males and females was 'pharmacy' (35.2% and 27.8%, respectively). The main reason for HFF product purchase by males and females was 'health promotion' (38.8% and 29.4%, respectively) and the main reason for not purchasing an HFF product was 'no health problem'(34.8% and 36.7%, respectively). The percentage of HFF consumption was 46.0% in males and 69.8% in females. The main HFF product consumed by males and females was 'vitamin mineral' (36.9% and 43.5%, respectively). The main reason for HFF consumption by males was 'health promotion' (31.0%) and females was 'recovery from fatigue' (21.8%). The main reason for not consuming HFF by males and females was 'no health problem' (38.4% and 41.5%, respectively). These results suggest the need to provide correct information concerning HFF to college students. Based on these results, greater efforts should be made to provide meaningful information regarding factors affecting purchase and consumption patterns for college students related to the research and development of HFF in the Northern Gyeonggi-do area.

Carbon Footprint Analysis of Mineral Paper using LCA Method (전과정 평가기법을 활용한 미네랄 페이퍼의 탄소발자국 연구)

  • In recent years, with the rising interest to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the demand for using environmentally friendly product with low greenhouse gas emission is increasing in the printing industry as well. In this study, the carbon footprint of environmentally friendly product mineral paper that uses less plastic and wood than normal printing paper materials was analyzed by utilizing the life cycle assessment (LCA) technique. An analysis utilizing the LCA technique was done per the Korea carbon footprint certification guidelines and, for scope of study, it included the premanufacturing stage and manufacturing stage except for the use and disposal stages. As a result of the study, the emission coefficient of the mineral paper was calculated to be $0.81kg\;CO_2eq/kg$ and the emission from electricity usage of the entire greenhouse gas emission was calculated to be 45.85% ($0.37kg\;CO_2eq/kg$). In order to reduce greenhouse gas emission, required are the efforts to reduce the environmental loads by using energies that have relatively lower environmental loads, such as improvement in electricity usage efficiency and renewable energy, by increasing product completion rates during the manufacturing process of mineral paper.

  • Consumers have been increasing their interests in firms' ethicality as well as in the features of the firms' products when they decide to purchase a certain product. Recently, fair trade is considered to be a type of ethical marketing in the business-to-consumer market. In this regard, the effects of fair trade-based marketing on firm performance have become the center of academic and managerial concerns. Despite this importance, few studies have investigated whether fair-trade is a source of competitive advantage or just a cost of doing business. The present research attempts to provide evidence of how fair trade-based marketing influences competitive advantage. Two experimental studies were conducted to explore consumers' purchase intention, which can be a proxy of competitive advantage, in a foreign product-consumption context. Drawing on the stakeholder theory, the first study was performed to examine the effects of fair trade marketing on consumers' purchase intention through a within-subjects design. In addition, building on the signal theory, the second study was executed to test the effects of a fair trade mark on consumers' purchase intention. The findings of the current research reveal that consumers prefer fair trade-based products to others and that when it comes to fair trade-certified products, consumers are more likely to purchase products with that certification than otherwise, even when those products are sold at higher costs than rival products. Interestingly, the results of this research present that there is a significant difference of consumers' purchase intention of a fair trade-based product between two different marketers. This implies that fair trade-based products should be differentially distributed and targeted at a certain type of consumers.

Trend of standardization in the field of Industrial Security through ISO/TC 292 (ISO/TC 292에 의한 산업보안 분야 국제표준화의 동향)

  • This study aims at analyzing the global trend of standardization in the field of Industrial Security through ISO/TC 292. It covers broad areas from risk management for industrial property protection and loss prevention through supply chain security, product and document fraud and counterfeiting countermeasures and control and community resilience. It also explores the historical background of the standardization in the security field, how ISO TC 292 came out as a leading group in order to standardize relevant security management systems. TC 292 deals with terminology, general security-related standards and supply chain security management. One of the major findings from this analysis is that security targets and threats are diversified and so organizations like enterprises should have proper flexibility to adapt themselves to new security environment and take appropriate resilience system to cope with the threats and incidents. Also the ISO standardization requires public or private entities to take holistic approaches in security management. Finally, it was found that South Korea has to prepare for this global trend of standardization in this field so that ISO certification market demand and the requirements for transnational trades can be well met.

  • In order to increase the self-reliance rate of new and renewable energy in order to respond to the mandatory domestic zero-energy buildings, the taller the building, the more limited the site area, and installing PV modules on the roof is not enough. Therefore, BIPV (Building integrated photovoltaic, hereinafter BIPV) is the industry receiving the most attention as a core energy source that can realize zero-energy buildings. Therefore, this study conducted a survey on the problems of the BIPV industry in a self-discussing method for experts with more than 10 years of experience of designers, builders, product manufacturers, and maintainers in order to suggest the right direction and revitalize the BIPV industry. Industrial problems of BIPV adjustment are drawn extention range of standard and certification for products, range improvement for current small condition of various kind productions, need to revise standards for capable of accomodating roof-type, color-module and louver-module, necessary of barrier in flow of foreign modules into korea through domestic certification mandatory, difficulty in obtaining BIPV information, request to prevent confusion among participants by exact guidelime about architectural application part of BIPV, and lack of the BIPV definition clearness, support policy, etc. Based on the improvements needed for the elements, giving change and competitiveness impacts aims to present and propose counter measures and direction.

Study on the Association between Personal Information Protection Legislation and Information Security Product (개인정보보호 관련 법령의 내용과 보안제품 분포간의 연관성 분석)

  • For the past few years, personal information breach incidents, great and small, occurred constantly. Accordingly, the Personal Information Protection related Ordinances are enacted and amended persistently, and the information security products also keep advancing and developing in the same way. There are the certification systems such as Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation(CC) and Korea Cryptographic Module Validation Program(KCMVP) for the information security products. These are also strictly carried out. This paper analyzes and categorizes the 5 Personal Information Protection related Ordinances in the aspects of technical protection measures by using key words. Here are the 5 related ordinances; 'the Personal Information Protection Act', 'the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc', 'the Act on the Protection, Use, Etc, of Location Information', 'the Use and Protection of Credit Information Act', and 'the Electronic Financial Transactions Act.' Moreover, this study analyzes the association between the technical protection measures in the 5 relevant laws and the information security products that are obtaining the CC Evaluation & Validation(CC) and the products that are now produced at KISIA's member companies.

Promoting the Sales of Regional Specialty Products through Local Festivals in Rural Korea (지역문화행사를 통한 전통산물 판매활성화 방안)

  • Local fairs are often part of the economic development strategy of rural areas. This study aims to find out marketing strategies for promoting the sales of regional specialty products through local festivals in rural Korea. The data were collected in late 2003 (from a sample of interviews and surveys from 351 visitors. The data were analyzed using the SPSS computer program. The results were as follows; First, the factors that visitors were considered in purchasing were quality (49.5%), commemorative value (36.9%), and reliability (33.0%). And the top reasons cited for not buying were lack of distinction (45.1%) and high prices (26.6%). The discount rates expected in markets was 16.8%. Second, 49.8% of visitors has spent over 10,000 won and their purchase pattern has been for themselves and their family. Third, the public organizations for certi(ication for visitors were the National Agricultural Cooperative Fedration (37.9%) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF) (22.5%). In conclusion, it was important for local stakeholders to provide more locally-manufactured, seasonal and traditional food, and to plan more locally characteristic events for their fairs. Further recommendations have included having a guide showing pricing and quality standards for products bought at rural fairs, developing product ideas for inducing impulse purchases, active promotion and marketing at event sites, and setting a standard system of warranties on products under the certification of the local authorities and with the financial support of the MAF Such recommendations were aimed at increasing the sale of traditional and regional specialty products at local festivals.

  • The Indonesian e-commerce market has grown significantly due to sustained economic growth, middle class growth, rapid increase in Internet and SNS users, and increase in accessibility of mobile broadband services. In particular, consumers' online shopping through mobile and SNS has been increasing rapidly based on the expansion of the popularity of smart phone devices. This research suggested the strategies for expanding exports of Indonesia through e-commerce platform to the Korean firms, with deep analysis of the current status and features, problems, cases, and implications etc. of Indonesia's e-commerce market. As an export expansion strategy utilizing Indonesia's e-commerce platform, this study showed the Korean firms have to build a local online distribution network, establish a logistics & delivery and payment system, acquire Halal certification for Muslim market, carry out the in-depth market research, actively implement Hanryu marketing strategy, develop a creative product, set up market segmentation strategies, and develop SNS mobile marketing.

  • This study is the result of a fuzzy-AHP-based evaluation of the support policy for the export of Chinese software, for which nine Class 1 evaluation indexes were established. Following a survey of 10 Chinese software experts, fuzzy AHP was used to assess and evaluate the absolute and relative importance of each index. The evaluation revealed that the support policy had relatively positive effects. More specifically, the analysis showed that several indices - technology development, HR development, marketing reinforcement, fund support, platform establishment, and product support - carried relatively significant importance. Quality management and tax deductions, on the other hand, showed no importance, while the importance of international certification was relatively small. In light of these discoveries, there is a need to train experts, increase software quality, and reconsider software brands.

Development of the Passive Outside Insulation Composite Panel for Energy Self-Sufficiency of Building in the Region (지역 건축물의 에너지 자립을 위한 패시브 외단열 복합패널 개발 연구)

  • The study aims to address the energy crisis and realize self-sufficiency of building as part of local energy independence, breaking away from a single concentrated energy supply system. It is intended to develop modules of the outside insulation composite panels that conform to passive certification criteria and for site-assembly systematization. The method of study first identifies trends and passive house in literature and advanced research. Second, the target performance for development is set, and the structural material is selected and designed to simulate performance. Third, a test specimen of the passive outside insulation curtain wall module designed is manufactured and constructed to test its heat transmission coefficient, condensation performance and airtightness. Finally, analyze performance test results, and explore and propose ways to improve the estimation and improvement of incomplete causes to achieve the goal. The final test results achieved the target performance of condensation and airtightness, and the heat transmission coefficient was $0.16W/(m^2{\cdot}K)$, which is $0.01W/(m^2{\cdot})K$ below the performance target. As for the lack of performance, we saw a need for a complementary design to account for simulation errors. It also provided an opportunity to recognize that insulated walls with performance can impact performance at small break. Thus, to be commercialized into a product with the need for improvement in the design of the joint parts, a management system is needed to increase the precision in the fabrication process.
