Co-application of organic coating and cathodic protection has not provided enough durability to low-alloyed steels inseawater ballast tank (SBT) environments. An attempt has made to study the effect of alloy elements (Al, Cr, Cu, Mo, Ni, Si, W) on general and localized corrosion resistance of steels as basic research to develop new low-allowed steels resistive to corrosion in SBT environments. For this study, we measured the corrosion rate by the weigh loss method after periodic immersion in synthetic seawater at $60^{\circ}C$, evaluated the localized corrosion resistance by an immersion test in concentrated chloride solution with the critical pH depending on the alloy element (Fe, Cr, Al, Ni), determined the permeability of chloride ion across the rust layer by measuring the membrane potential, and finally, we analyzed the rust layer by EPMA mapping and compared the result with the E-pH diagram calculated in the study. The immersion test of up to 55 days in the synthetic seawater showed that chromium, aluminium, and nickel are beneficial but the other elements are detrimental to corrosion resistance. Among the beneficial elements, chromium and aluminium effectively decreased the corrosion rate of the steels during the initial immersion, while nickel effectively decreased the corrosion rate in a longer than 30-day immersion. The low corrosion rate of Cr- or Al-alloyed steel in the initial period was due to the formation of $Cr_2FeO_4$ or $Al_2FeO_4$, respectively -the predicted oxide in the E-pH diagram- which is known as a more protective oxide than $Fe_3O_4$. The increased corrosion rate of Cr-alloyed steels with alonger than 30-day exposure was due to low localized corrosion resistance, which is explained bythe effect of the alloying element on a critical pH. In the meantime, the low corrosion rate of Ni-alloyed steel with a longer than 30-day exposure wasdue to an Ni enriched layer containing $Fe_2NiO_4$, the predicted oxide in the E-pH diagram. Finally, the measurement of the membrane potential depending on the alloying element showed that a lower permeability of chloride ion does not always result in higher corrosion resistance in seawater.

Cloud computing is a computing paradigm in which users can utilize computing resources in a pay-as-you-go manner. In a cloud system, resources can be dynamically scaled up and down to the user's on-demand so that the total cost of ownership can be reduced. The Modeling and Simulation (M&S) technology is a renowned simulation-based method to obtain engineering analysis and results through CAE software without actual experimental action. In general, M&S technology is utilized in Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Multibody dynamics (MBD), and optimization fields. The work procedure through M&S is divided into pre-processing, analysis, and post-processing steps. The pre/post-processing are GPU-intensive job that consists of 3D modeling jobs via CAE software, whereas analysis is CPU or GPU intensive. Because a general-purpose desktop needs plenty of time to analyze complicated 3D models, CAE software requires a high-end CPU and GPU-based workstation that can work fluently. In other words, for executing M&S, it is absolutely required to utilize high-performance computing resources. To mitigate the cost issue from equipping such tremendous computing resources, we propose HEMOS-Cloud service, an integrated cloud and cluster computing environment. The HEMOS-Cloud service provides CAE software and computing resources to users who want to experience M&S in business sectors or academics. In this paper, the economic ripple effect of HEMOS-Cloud service was analyzed by using industry-related analysis. The estimated results of using the experts-guided coefficients are the production inducement effect of KRW 7.4 billion, the value-added effect of KRW 4.1 billion, and the employment-inducing effect of 50 persons per KRW 1 billion.
At the same time the unique cultural traits of each country are valued, it has become an essential element to establish the cultural identity of a country. This study is aimed at comparing the residence architectural cultures in East-Asia and thus identifying Korea's own unique traits by determining the application characteristics of traditional architectures of Korea, China and Japan through practical investigation of materials, a basic element of architectural shaping. Literature survey and field study were conducted in parallel for this study, and architectural buildings under investigation included Mucheomdang House in Korea, Prince Gong Mansion in China and Dokyudo Building in Japan. Construction materials in Korea, China and Japan include natural materials such as wood, stone and clay, and artificial materials such as metals, paper, roof tiles, plug and glass. and the buildings were constructed with the combination of these materials. This commonality can be often found in the architectural composition. However, in the interior composition, the choice and application of different materials were clear between three countries, which were shown to be different depending on climates, processing methods and living culture of each country. First of all, since each country selected materials under the influence of its own vegetation and climates, living environment of each country could be seen via its residence. Also, it could be seen that while Korea and Japan show a certain similarity such as the traits of standing-sitting culture and the finish of paper in the interior, China is clearly different. In particular, regarding the material processing, the artificial processing was minimized in Korea, which mainly gave rough and crude feelings while due to the use of straight timbers, the architectural representation with organized and refined feelings was made in Japan. China showed the highest percentage of artificial processing of materials among three countries, which was highly associated with the coloring culture of China. Also, it could be seen that technology related to fine architectural materials such as bricks and glass was greatly advanced in China. Thus, how immaterial elements such as natural characteristics, functionality and aesthetics were applied in relation to residence in Korea, Japan and China could be determined through the comparison of architectural materials.
In this paper, some problems that occur from faulty elements in a direction finding system composed of the linear array are studied and the method which improves the performance is proposed. The fault element means the sensor that has no output or highly reduced gain than other normal sensors. In the case of the presence of faulty elements, the performance of the conventional the spatial spectrum subject to a constraint. The corrected spatial spectrum is obtained by this vector. The computer simulations have been performed to study the performance of the proposed method. We have compared the proposed method with the subaperture processing method of one of the previous works.

All academic information on the web or elsewhere has its creator, that is, a subject who has created the information. The subject can be an individual, a group, or an institution, and can be a nation depending on the nature of the relevant information. Most information is composed of a title, an author, and contents. An essay which is under the academic information category has metadata including a title, an author, keyword, abstract, data about publication, place of publication, ISSN, and the like. A patent has metadata including the title, an applicant, an inventor, an attorney, IPC, number of application, and claims of the invention. Most web-based academic information services enable users to search the information by processing the meta-information. An important element is to search information by using the author field which corresponds to a personal name. This study suggests a method of efficient indexing and using the adjacent operation result ranking algorithm to which phrase search-based boosting elements are applied, and thus improving the accuracy of the search results of personal names. It also describes a method for providing the results of searching co-authors and related researchers in searching personal names. This method can be effectively applied to providing accurate and additional search results in the academic information services.
In recent years, many countries have added railway noise to the issues covered by noise regulations. It is known that the rail is the dominant source of rolling noise at frequency range of 500Hz-2000Hz for the conventional speeds (<160km/h). One of the effective ways to reduce noise from railway track is using a rail vibration absorber. To study the acoustic performance of rail absorber, the decay rates of vibration have long been used by researcher. In this paper, A FE model of a periodic supported rail with infinite element in ABAQUS is developed to study the acoustic performance of the rail absorber. To compute the decay rates, acceleration responses along the rail transferred to MATLAB to obtain response levels in frequency domain and then by processing the response levels, the decay rates obtained for each1/3octav band. Continous rail absorber is represented by a steel layer and an elastomer layer. The decay rates for conventional rail and rail with one-side absorber and also, the rail with two side absorber are obtained and compared. Then, to improve the system of rail absorber, a steel plate with elastomer layer is added to bottom of the rail foot. The vertical decay rate results show that the decay rate of rail vibration along the track is significantly increased around the tuned frequency of the absorber and thus the rail vibration energy is substantially reduced in the corresponding frequency region and also effective in rail noise reduction.
Flexibly-reconfigurable roll forming (FRRF), which is a sheet forming process for multi-curved sheet metal, may solve both the economic and technical problems incurred in using a conventional die forming process. In the FRRF process, the multi-curved sheet metal is formed by different strain distributions on the sheet metal, and the reconfigurable rollers are used as tools during the forming. Therefore, a thorough investigation focused on the reconfigurable rollers is required for the realization of the FRRF process prior to the fabrication of FRRF machine. In the current study, a series of finite element simulations were conducted to study the load distributions experienced by the reconfigurable roller. In order to verify the shape design variables, the effect of the metal thickness on the curvatures of sheet is also presented.

While critical properties of BSCCO wires rely considerably on grid direction upon BSCCO and have very complicated mechanism of generating a superconducting phase, making it difficult to improve properties of wires, YBCO thin-film wires which can be formed in a superconducting phase upon metal board through vapor deposition processing can get excellent direction and reduce manufacturing costs with more flexibility in improving critical properties; thus, they will be suitable for instrument application in the future. Contrary to BSCCO wires for which thick silver alloy covering materials should inevitably be used, moreover, YBCO thin-film wires have an advantage of making thickness and quality of covering materials different by usage. Such a property can be an important element to widen application of wires by presenting possibility of using thin-film wires as superconducting material for fault current limiter as well as for high power current application. In this study we intend to prepare YBCO thin-film wires with different stabilizer layers to analyze current application and current restriction properties by stabilizer layers on the basis of detailed researches on changes in current classification properties below critical value.
String matching is a fundamental element of an important category of modern packet processing applications which involve scanning the content flowing through a network for thousands of strings at the line rate. To keep pace with high network speeds, specialized hardware-based solutions are needed which should be efficient enough to maintain scalability in terms of speed and the number of strings. In this paper, a novel architecture based upon a recently proposed data structure called the Bloomier filter is proposed which can successfully support scalability. The Bloomier filter is a compact data structure for encoding arbitrary functions, and it supports approximate evaluation queries. By eliminating the Bloomier filter's false positives in a space efficient way, a simple yet powerful exact string matching architecture is proposed that can handle several thousand strings at high rates and is amenable to on-chip realization. The proposed scheme is implemented in reconfigurable hardware and we compare it with existing solutions. The results show that the proposed approach achieves better performance compared to other existing architectures measured in terms of throughput per logic cells per character as a metric.
This paper is to be pre-processing that decides the text recognizability and quality contained in natural image. Differentiated with the existing studies, In this paper, it suggests the application of partially unified color models, Coiflet Wavelet and text extraction algorithm that uses the closed curve edge features of LoG (laplacian of gaussian)operator. The text image included in natural image such as signboard has the same hue, saturation and value, and there is a certain thickness as for their feature. Each color element is restructured into closed area by LoG operator, the 2nd differential operator. The text area is contracted by Hough Transform, logical AND-OR operator of each color model and Minimum-Distance classifier. This paper targets natural image into which text area is added regardless of the size and resolution of the image, and it is confirmed to have more excellent performance than other algorithms with many restrictions.
