In 계 저융점합금의 닥터 블레이드 테이프캐스팅 (Doctor Blade Tape Casting of In-based Low Melting Point Alloy)

  • Tape casting is an important forming operation used to prepare flat sheets in the various industries. In this study, Doctor Blade tape casting of In-based low melting point alloy was carried out. The purpose of this investigation was to determine the possibility of applying the Doctor Blade tape casting process to the manufacture of low melting point alloy sheets that can be used as thermal fusible parts of battery safety systems. In-based molten alloy that has a melting point of $95^{\circ}C$ was produced; it's viscosity was measured at various temperatures. The molten alloy was used as a slip in the caster of the Doctor Blade tape casting system. The effects of the molten alloy temperatures and carrier speeds on the produced sheet shape were observed. For the casting conditions of 1.5 cm slip height, $120^{\circ}C$ slip temperature, 0.05 mm blade gap and 60 m/min. carrier speed, an In-based alloy thin tape well shaped with 0.16 mm uniform thickness was continuously produced.

  • Bi-2223 superconducting wires were fabricated by stacking, drawing process with different precursor powders and different heat-treatment histories. The precursor powders were 2 kinds of Pb content. And a part of the tapes were experienced pre-annealing process which caused tetragonal structure of Bi-2212 phase to orthorhombic structure of it was during drawing process. We confirmed the transformation of Bi-2212 phase from tetragonal structure to orthorhombic structure and reduction of second phases. XRD and DC magnetization analysis were performed in order to investigate the fraction of Bi-2223 phase in Bi-2223/Ag HTS tape. We could achieve best Ic of 70 A class at the Bi-2223/Ag tape using low Pb content of precursor powder and experienced pre-annealing process. DC magnetization analysis was useful to investigate the fraction of Bi-2223 phase in the Bi-2223/Ag tape.

  • We evaluated the effect of joining process such as contact method, shape of joined area and pressure on the electrical property of Bi-2223 superconducting tape. It was observed that the current capacity was reduced at the transition area of the joined tape and was significantly dependent on the uniaxial pressure. The lap-joined tape, fabricated with a pressure of 1,000-1,600 MPa, show the highest value of current capacity(80-90%) of the tape itself. It is believed the highest value of current capacity results from improvement in core density, contacting area and grain alignment, etc. In addition, the irreversible strain( ${\varepsilon}$ irrev) for the joined tape· was measured to be 0.1%, smaller than that of enjoined tape( ${\varepsilon}$ irrev = 0.3%). The decrease in the strength and irreversible strain for joined tape is believed to be due to the irregular geometry/morphology of the transition area of the tape.

  • 초미립 자성 입자를 이용한 MP(metal particle) 테이프의 특성을 개선하기 위하여, 제조 공정상의 여러가지 인자의 영향을 조사하였다. kneading 조건, milling 고형분, coating 두께, 배향조건, calender 조건, 경화 조건 등 주요 제조 조건에 따른 MP 테이프의 휘도(luminance) S/N, RF 재생 출력등의 전자 변환 특성과 광택, 점도, 강성 (stiffness)등의 물리특성이 조사하였으며, 이로부터 각 공정의 최적 제조 조건을 결정하였다. 이상의 제조 공정 조건으로 제조된 테이프는 High Band 8 mm 비디오 테이프에서 요구되는 전자변환특성, 툴리특성 및 내구성 등의 기본특성을 모두 만족하였다.

  • Low firing temperature substrate were synthesized through tape casting and sintering of glass with cordierite composition and then their properties were investigated. Even though the dielectric properties and XRD patterns of substrates, obtained by tape casting and sintering at 900~100$0^{\circ}C$ for various periods, were similar to those of substrates obtained by dry pressing, the sinterability was enhanced. The substrates were thin and the size was 0.6$\times$50$\times$50mm. From the results of dielectric properties, the sinterability and X-ray diffraction pattern, the proper condition for cofiring process with conductor, Cu, was 90$0^{\circ}C$ for 1h. The properties of the substrate are as follows; the dielectric constant was 5.31(at 1MHz), the dissipation factor was 0.0028, the apparent porosity was 0.28% and the main crystalline phase was $\alpha$-cordierite.

  • Among the various processing techniques used in HTS wire fabrication, the PIP(Powder In Tube) method is currently one of the most promising for applications on an industrial scale. In this study, we have fabricated Bi-2223/Ag superconducting tapes using the modified PIT process, where several process factors were changed and improved, ie., powder packing, drawing, rolling and heat treatment. We obtained Bi-2223 tape that have high critical current, 46 a at 77.3 K, have high critical current, 46A at 77.3 K, self field although the tape was not pressed but only rolled. The critical current of 100m class long length tape was measured 21.6A at the same criterion. Besides, the critical current of Bi-2223/Ag tape was measured applying magnetic fields with different directions at various temperatures.

  • For large scale applications of high temperature superconductor(HTS) such as transmission cables, motors and generators, long length of flexible HTS conductors is required. Currently, HTS tape that is capable of being fabricated in long length by industrial processes is the Bi-2223 HTS tape. In this study, we fabricated 19 filamentary Bi-2223($Bi_{1.8}$$Pb_{0.4}$$Sr_{2}$$Ca_{2}$$Cu_{3}$$O_{10+X}$) HTS tape with 100m length by PIT(Powder In Tube) process. Critical current(Ic) of this long length tape was measured 18.5 A at 77 K, self field and short sample Ic is 32.5 A at the same condition. Critical current of 100m length tape was decreased by about 1/3 compared to that of short tape. This was mainly resulted from the increase of non homogeneity in oxide layer.

A Machine Vision System for Inspecting Tape-Feeder Operation

  • A tape feeder of a SMD(Surface Mount Device) mounter is a device that sequentially feeds electronic components on a tape reel to the pick-up system of the mounter. As components are getting much smaller, feeding accuracy of a feeder becomes one of the most important factors for successful component pick-up. Therefore, it is critical to keep the feeding accuracy to a specified level in the assembly and production of tape feeders. This paper describes a tape feeder inspection system that was developed to automatically measure and to inspect feeding accuracy using machine vision. It consists of a feeder base, an image acquisition system, and a personal computer. The image acquisition system is composed of CCD cameras with lens, LED illumination systems, and a frame grabber inside the PC. This system loads up to six feeders at a time and inspects them automatically and sequentially. The inspection software was implemented using Visual C++ on Windows with easily usable GUI. Using this system, we can automatically measure and inspect the quality of ail feeders in production process by analyzing the measurement results statistically.

Bi-2223/Ag 고온초전도 장선재의 제조 (Fabrication of long length Bi-2223/Ag HTS tape)

  • In order to use HTS tape on electric power applications, such as cable, motor, transformer, fault current limiter, a long length of HTS tape with a good uniformity of critical current is inevitable. The longer length of HTS tape, the wider in the range of application and the lower cost of HTS tape. In this study three long length Bi-2223/Ag tapes(268m, 253m and 187m) were fabricated. Critical current uniformity along the length was greatly improved through the optimization of cold deformation and thermo-mechanical process. Average critical current of the tapes was 63.2 A, 54.6 A and 64.2 A, respectively Critical tensile strength and critical bending radius (77 K, 5 % Ic degradation) was 135 MPa and 56 m, respectively.

Effects of Debinding Atmosphere on Properties of Sintered Reaction-bonded Si3N4 Prepared by Tape Casting Method

  • The effects of the debinding atmosphere on the properties of sintered reaction-bonded $Si_3N_4$ (SRBSN) ceramics prepared by tape casting method were investigated. Si green tape was produced from Si slurry of Si powder, using 11.5 wt% polyvinyl butyral as the organic binder and 35 wt% dioctyl phthalate as the plasticizer. The debinding process was conducted in air and $N_2$ atmospheres at $400^{\circ}C$ for 4 h. The nitridation process of the debinded Si specimens was performed at $1450^{\circ}C$, followed by sintering at $1850^{\circ}C$ and 20 MPa. The results revealed that the debinding atmosphere had a significant effect on $Si_3N_4$ densification and thermal conductivity. Owing to the higher sintered density and larger grain size, the thermal conductivity of $Si_3N_4$ specimens debinded in air was higher than that of the samples debinded in $N_2$. Thus, debinding in air could be suitable for the manufacture of high-performance SRBSN substrates by tape casting.
