  • This study is on modulo scheduling algorithms for multicore processor in machine learning applications. Machine learning algorithms are designed to perform a large amount of operations such as vectors and matrices in order to quickly process large amounts of data stream. To support such large amounts of computations, processor architectures to support applications such as artificial intelligence, neural networks, and machine learning are designed in the form of parallel processing such as multicore. To effectively utilize these multi-core hardware resources, various compiler techniques are being used and studied. In this study, among these compiler techniques, we analyzed the modular scheduler, which is especially important in one core's computation pipeline. This paper looked at and compared the iterative modular scheduler and the swing modular scheduler, which are the most widely used and studied. As a result, both schedulers provided similar performance results, and when measuring register pressure as an indicator, it was confirmed that the swing modulo scheduler provided slightly better performance. In this study, a technique that divides recurrence edge is proposed to improve the minimum initiation interval of the modulo schedulers.

  • Linear scheduling method limits to present works of work breakdown structure as a form of lines and was often developed manually. In other words, linear schedule could not utilize activity, work breakdown structure, and etc. information of network schedule such as CPM(Critical Path Method) and has been used only for reporting or confirming construction master plan. Therefore, it is necessary to develop system which can automatically generating the linear schedule based on the network schedule having many accumulated and useful construction schedule information. Thus, this research has an effort to establish data process model, data flow diagram, and data model in order to make linear schedule. In addition, this research addresses the system solution structure, user interface class diagram and logic diagram, and data type schema. The results of this paper can be used as a preliminary research for developing linear schedule generating system prototype by utilizing the network schedule information.

  • This research has been Initiated to provide an effective management tool for budget control of the public projects using EVMS. Barriers to implementing the tool for the domestic public projects are identified : no PMB (Performance Measurement Baseline) for budget control, management by BOQ(bill of quantity), no systematic planning and control. To eliminate these barriers, an integrated cost and schedule management process model using EVMS is proposed. This model is composed of six sub processes : organizing, scheduling, budget allocating, establishing PMB, managerial analysis, change incorporation.

  • The purpose of this case study is to suggest the indicators of an informatization maturity level and critical success factors in small and medium automotive parts manufacturers. To achieve this goal, literature reviews and case studies on 7 automotive parts manufacturers that confirmed to implement information systems successfully, were conducted. Based on literature review, the six functional processes including development, production scheduling, purchase, production, order, and support process, were defined. Each process has 5 levels from 1(low level) to 5(high level) depending on the degree of informatization maturity. In addition, critical success factors were discovered with interviews of CEO or CIO. The results of this study can be applied to any companies which are implementing or intended to the information systems near future.

  • Presently, because making process of train service plan consist of various constraint condition, for example structure of track, structure of track in station, train maintenance time and others for considering to be necessary of train management, it has been had extremely complex structure problems. For these reasons, it has big problems to compare analysis for various train service time-table. A study suggest methodology to choice service the most effective schedule and plan of train put before comparative analysis on making train diamond picture's expected effect of established possible various train time-table in making process of train service schedule for improving effectiveness and organization of train service schedule establishment. A study uses Line-Blocking theory for analyzing train service time-table and analyze example for regional train Sadang to Ansan section in 4line.

  • This paper is concerned with coordinated collaboration of multiagent system in which there exist multiple agents which have their own set of skills to perform some tasks, multiple external resources which can be either used exclusively by an agent or shared by the specified number of agents at a time, and a set of tasks which consists of a collection of subtasks each of which can be carried out by an agent. Even though a subtask can be carried out by several agents, its processing cost may be different depending on which agent performs it. To process tasks, some coordination work is required such as allocating their constituent subtasks among competent agents and scheduling the allocated subtasks to determine their processing order at each agent. This paper proposes a genetic algorithm-based method to coordinate the agents to process tasks in the considered multiagent environments. It also presents some experiment results for the proposed method and shows that the proposed method is a useful coordination collaboration method of multiagent system.

  • In astronomy, the amount of data generated using wide-field optical telescope has increased exponentially. However, the fixed-size small-scale computing environment and the complexity of data analysis tools, results in difficulties to process the massive observation data collected. To resolve this problem, we propose a cloud-based automation system for the efficient processing of the enormous data gathered. The proposed system consists of a Workflow Execution Manager which manages various workflow templates and controls the execution of workflows instantiated from theses templates, and an Elastic Resource Manager that dynamically adds/deletes computing resources, according to the amount of data analysis requests. To show the effectiveness of our proposed system, we exhaustively explored a board spectrum of experiments, like elastic resources allocation, system load, etc. Finally, we describe the best practice case of DEEP-SOUTH scheduling system as an example application.

  • Schedule control is an exceedingly fundamental and important construction business function. Even though enormous research efforts have been exerted in this area, there has been no comprehensive and quantitative study exploring detailed cost control practice of construction companies in terms of practical patterns and trends. In this context, this paper surveyed the patterns and trends of schedule control practice of Korean general contractors. Schedule control process as compared to schedule reduction is focused in this paper. The variables for practical schedule control process were identified first. A survey questionnaire was then developed and used in order to collect data from Korean general contractors. Survey results analyzing responses from 45 companies show that scheduling processes in practice have been significantly enhanced in terms of software tools, manuals, and capabilities of engineers.

  • The present study is to develop an intelligent control system for flexible manufacturing system, which is suitable for a variety of manufacturing types with smaller production rates. The controller is designed to integrate heuristic rules with optimization techniques for loading as well as flow rate of parts and ultimately meeting performance indices. The control function implemented by an optimization technique is to calculate short term production rates of parts. The heuristic control determined by production rules requires knowledge base to evaluate selected loading alternatives according to short term production rate and current process information, and also to determine final decision pertaining to loading. In this case, the knowledge base is constructed using the rules for evaluating alternatives, decision criteria, and flow control of parts in manufacturing system. The database is formulated by means of managing and updating current process information. A graphic system to monitor current status of the function and operation of manufacturing system is developed, and computer simulation is carried out to evaluate the performance of the proposed controller.

  • In this paper to cope with the reduction of products life-cycle as the variety of products along with the various demands of consumers, a virtual simulator is developed to make the changeover of manufacturing line efficient to embody a virtual simulation similar to a real manufacturing line. The developed virtual simulator can design a layout of a factory and make the time scheduling. Every factory has one simulator so that one product can be manufactured in the factories to use them as virtual factories. We suggest a scheme that heightens the agility to the diversity of manufacturing models by making the information of manufacturing lines and products models to be shared. The developed unit simulator can construct a proper virtual manufacturing line along with the required process of products using several kinds of operator and work cell. A user with the simulator can utilize an interface that makes one to manage the separate task process for each manu(acturing module, change operator components and work cells, and easily teach tasks of each task module. The developed simulator was made for users convenience by Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 that can develop a program supplying graphic user interface environment and by OpenGL of the Silicon Graphics as a graphic library to embody 3D graphic environment. Also, we show that the simulator can be used efficiently for the agile manufacturing by the communication among the factories being linked by TCP/IP and a hybrid database system made by a hierarchical model and a relational model being developed to standardize the data information.
