In this study, the researcher developed a course integrated mathematical problem posing activities in order to enhance pre-service mathematics teachers' ability to carry out problem posing activities in mathematics classroom, and examined the changes of pre-service mathematics teachers' perceptions about problem posing through the course. The problem posing course developed in this study consisted of three stages: education on the theories regarding problem posing; activities with problem posing; development and implementation of problem posing tasks. According to the results of the questionnaires, interviews, and class journals data analysis, the problem posing experiences provided in this study were very effective in improving pre-service mathematics teachers' understanding of the problem posing strategies and the benefit of problem posing activities to student learning. Particularly, the experience in various problem posing activities and the implementation experience of problem posing provided in the course played a key role in the improvement of pre-service mathematics teachers' understanding of problem posing and PCK.
The purpose of this study was to analyze middle school students' problem posing types and strategies. we analyzed problems posed by 120 middle school students during mathematics class focused on problem posing activities in various aspects. Students' posed problems were classified into five types: not a problem(NP), non-math(NM), impossible(IM), insufficient(IN), sufficient(SU) and each of the posed problems. Students used three kinds of problem posing strategies such as goal manipulation(GM), assumption manipulation(AM), and condition manipulation(CM), and in posing one problem, one or more than two strategies were used. According to the prior studies, problem posing can contributes to the development of students' problem solving ability, creativity, mathematical aptitude, and a broader understanding of mathematical concepts. However, we found that some students had difficulties in posing problems or limited understandings of that. We hope the results of the study contribute to encouraging problem posing activities in mathematics instruction.
I analyzed the effect of problem posing teaching and teacher-centered teaching on mathematical problem-solving ability and creativity in order to know the efffct of problem posing teaching on mathematics study. After we gave problem posing lessons to the 3rd grade middle school students far 28 weeks, the evaluation result of problem solving ability test and creativity test is as fellows. First, problem posing teaching proved to be more effective in developing problem-solving ability than existing teacher-centered teaching. Second, problem posing teaching proved to be more effective than teacher-centered teaching in developing mathematical creativity, especially fluency and flexibility among the subordinate factors of mathematical creativity. Thus, 1 suggest the introduction of problem posing teaching activity for the development of problem-solving ability and mathematical creativity.
This thesis is to see if the classes using problem posing is effective to improve the students' grades in math. So I set up research subjects as follow. 1. Do the classes focused on problem posing have any influence on the students' achievement\ulcorner 2. Do the classes focused on problem posing have any different influence on the students' achievement according to their levels\ulcorner 3. Do the classes focused on problem posing have any different influence on the students' achievement according to the categories in math\ulcorner I close four classes in the first grade of K middle school in Kangnung, Kangwon province for this thesis. First I divided them into two groups. Each group consisted of two classes. One is the experimental group. The other is the comparative group. The experimental group was taken classes using problem posing. The comparative group was taken classes by the traditional teaching method. And then I analyzed the difference of the achievement between two groups. As a result of this research, I came to the conclusion as follow. First, the classes focused on problem posing is more effective than traditional teaching method for the improvement of the students` achievement Second, both the classes using problem posing and the traditional teaching method doesn`t affect to the advanced students. Third, the classes using problem posing is more effective to the intermediate students and lower level students than the traditional teaching method. Especially it is very effective in teaching the students the linear equation.
There are concepts in calculus which are difficult to teach and learn. One of these concepts is integration. However, problem posing has not yet received the attention it deserves from the mathematics education community. There is no systematic study that deals with teaching of calculus concepts by problem posing oriented teaching strategy. In this respect this study investigated the effect of problem posing on students' (prospective teachers') academic success when problem posing oriented approach is used to teach the integral concept in Calculus-II (Mathematics-II) course to first grade prospective teachers who are enrolled to the Primary Science Teaching Program of Education Faculty. The study used intervention-posttest experimental design. Quantitative research techniques were employed to gather, analyze and interpret the data. The sample comprised 79 elementary prospective science teachers. The results indicate that problem posing approach effects academic success in a positive way and at significant level.

The purposes of this study are, by referring to various previous studies on problem posing, to re-construct problem posing steps and a variety of problem posing learning materials with a problem posing teaching-learning model, which are practically useful in math class; then, by applying them to 4-Ga step math teaming, to examine whether this problem posing teaching-learning model has positive effects on the students' problem solving ability and mathematical attitude. The experimental process consisted of the newly designed problem posing teaching-learning curriculum taught to the experimental group, and a general teaching-learning curriculum taught to the comparative group. The study results of this experiment are as follows: First, compared to the comparative group, the experimental group in which the teaching-teaming activity with problem posing was taught showed a significant improvement in problem solving ability. Second, the experimental group in which the teaching-learning activity with problem posing was taught showed a positive change in mathematical attitude.
Recent research has documented that there is a close relationship between problem posing and problem solving in arithmetic. However, most studies investigated the relationship between problem posing and problem solving only by means of standard problem situations. In order to overcome that shortcoming, a pilot study with Chinese fourth-graders was done to investigate this relationship using a non-standard, realistic problem situation. The results revealed a significant positive relationship between students' problem posing and solving abilities. Based on that pilot study, a more extensive and systematic ascertaining study was carried out to confirm the observed relationship between problem posing and problem solving among Chinese elementary school children. Results confirmed that there was indeed a close relationship between both skills.
Until now, There have been few studies to investigate a degree of abilities or interesting about mathematical problem-posing of first and second grades in elementary school. This is due to the fact that this students(1st and 2nd grades) have a limited amount of study time and their minds are not fully developed, and are lacking in their representation of ability to use the national language. This being the case, it is difficult to investigate their Mathematical problem-posing in a practical manner. However, our 7th elementary school Mathematics curriculum emphasizes the teaching and learning of Mathematical problem-posing from a basic level of first and second grade with emphasis on activity in teaming Mathematics. Through this study, having analysed the problems those children posed, I have found out they improved in numbers and correctness of their posed problems. And I too could found out showing to their much interesting and confidence to mathematical problem-posing and could confirmed for the children to admit themselves its merits through analyzing some questions to ask their opinions to it. I expect that this study can help to develop the teaching and learning materials for mathematical problem-posing and also to improve its methods of elementary school mathematics. The next study task is, I think, that it is necessary to accumulate the studies to investigate and analyse the practical learning activities of children for problem-posing contents of mathematics text books.

The purpose of this study was to analyze mathematical errors and the effects of reflective problem posing activities on students' mathematical problem solving abilities and attitudes toward mathematics. We chose two 5th grade groups (experimental and control groups) to conduct this research. From the results of this study, we obtained the following conclusions. First, reflective problem posing activities are effective in improving students' problem solving abilities. Students could use extended capability of selecting a condition to address the problem to others in the activities. Second, reflective problem posing activities can improve students' mathematical willpower and promotes reflective thinking. Reflective problem posing activities were conducted before and after the six areas of mathematics. Also, we examined students' mathematical attitudes of both the experimental group and the control group about self-confidence, flexibility, willpower, curiosity, mathematical reflection, and mathematical value. In the reflective problem posing group, students showed self check on their problems solving activities and participated in mathematical discussions to communicate with others while participating mathematical problem posing activities. We suggested that reflective problem posing activities should be included in the development of mathematics curriculum and textbooks.
