  • Bridges are essential and valuable elements in road and rail transportation networks. Bridge remediation is a top priority for asset managers, but identifying the nature of true defect deterioration and associated remediation treatments remains a complex task. Nowadays Decision Support Systems (DSS) are used extensively to assist in decision-making across a wide spectrum of unstructured decision environments. In this paper a requirements-driven framework is used to develop a risk based decision support model which has the ability to quantify the bridge condition and find the best remediation treatments using Multi Attribute Utility Theory (MAUT), with the aim of maintaining a bridge within acceptable limits of safety, serviceability and sustainability.

  • Water resource projects need an enormous national budget. Therefore, a reasonable and reliable decision making is required for the planning of water resource projects, but decision making has been mostly performed by economic analysis. The objective of this study is to develop a Multi-criteria Decision Making(MCDM) model which can assess the project in various aspects for the selection of preferable alternative and determination of investment priority in water resource projects. In this study, the criteria involves economic feasibility, policies, vulnerability, and sub-items which have weights obtained from the expert survey for the consistent evaluation. We also derived the utility function considering risk trend of each item based on the expert survey. Then, the total score was estimated by weights of each item and utility score of each attribute. The results show that vulnerability is a major contributor for the criteria. This study will contribute to the selection of proper water resource projects considering efficiency of project and fairness for vulnerable area.

  • Due to its vast range of areas and scopes of port logistics, professional training for port logistics experts has faced a limitation to raise manpower that the nation and companies ask for. This study looks at the current and expected demand and supply of workforce to identify necessary subjects and competitive factors in secondary education for training port logistics experts. Based on previous studies, this study proposes an assessment model by eliciting the priority of subjects in secondary education. and then, provides reasons for decision making.

  • The Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) model developed by Saaty is a very useful decision-making model designed for selecting and evaluating project alternatives through $\ulcorner$pairwise comparison$\lrcorner$ in the context of hierarchical structure. In this paper, we construct a modified AHP model named Analytic Dicho-Hierarchy Process (ADHP) model necessary for evaluating technology alternatives.

  • The objective of this study is the classification of priority areas for the implementation of green roof by evaluating environmental deterioration in Seoul. Non-permeable pavement, air pollution, habitual floods, energy use, heat island and green space are considered in this assessment indicators. The expert questionnaire survey was conducted in order to determine the most important indicators. These indicators were then, thoroughly evaluated. As a result, high priority areas for the implementation of green roof were deduced in the following order of the districts : Jung, Sungdong, Jungrang, Youngdungpo, Jongro and Kangnam. The highest priority areas were determined to be crowded business-commercial areas. Low priority areas are analyzed in the following order of the districts : Kwanak, Nowon, Seocho and Dobong. The result of this study can be utilized for environmental planning and decision of related policies. Additionally, it can be promoted that awareness of implementing green roof of citizens, policy makers and building owners and effect of green networking between inside and outside Seoul can be increased.

  • An efficient demolition process requires the optimum method selection considering stability, economic feasibility, environment, and workability. In reality the construction cost and period are priority concerns, and safe construction methods are neglected. In addition, the choosing demolition method is often determined subjectively by experienced field engineers. This research paper presents a multi-criteria decision-making method using Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) to select the optimum demolition method. Three experienced demolition engineers' opinions were used to develop the TOPSIS model. The case study showed that the preferences of ten attribute measurements for demolition method selection. Authors suggested the most preferable demolition method for the case study project.

  • Currently, each managing agencies are enforcing the maintenance against the cutting slopes, but the universality and objectivity are insufficient, because the evaluation item and model are various, the access method is not mutual-supplementary. Consequently, this study will lead the approach for a rational model development, by the analysis against the existing cutting slope evaluation technique, excavate a collapse primary reason and a factor, by the collapse example analysis, and make out evaluation table to decide a investigation priority of the existing cutting slope in the Investigation Evaluation step using AHP.

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study was to explore and diagnose the characteristics and behavioural patterns of rural tourists after COVID-19 using decision tree analysis to classify and identify key segmentation groups. Design/methodology/approach - The CHAID algorithm was used as the analysis technique for the decision tree. The explanatory variables used in the analysis of each decision tree model were demographic variables and rural tourism usage behaviour and perception variables, and the target variables were the preferences of rural tourists' activities after COVID-19. From the Rural Tourism 2020 survey data, 614 samples with rural tourism experience were extracted and used in the analysis. Findings - The variables that significantly explained the preference for each type of rural tourism activity after COVID-19 were rural tourism safety perception, repeated visits to the region, rural tourism priority activity, rural tourism accommodation experience, gender, age group, marital status, occupation, and education level. Among them, rural tourism safety perception was the most important explanatory variable in each analysis model. Research implications or Originality - Overall, to promote rural tourism, it is necessary to enhance the safety image of rural tourism, strengthen loyalty programs for repeat visitors, and develop customized products that reflect the preferred trends of rural tourism.

  • Since introducing the "Theory of Constraints" by Goldratt, its effect was verified by lots of scholars, men of enterprise. These days it is also introducing and studying in this country with good results. The objective of this study is to show how to determine the constraint resources on DBR scheduling. Actually, previous studies based on the line which just think a load/capacity rate on doing scheduling. This study will show a scheduling method which reflects multi-parameters. It could be a standard to reflect real manufacturing surroundings. On calculating a priority of each resources, we classified factors with subjective and objective factors. And we propose a decision model to incorporate values assigned by a group of experts on different factors to select a critical resource. On deploying this model, SN ratio of Taguchi method for each of subjective and objective factors will be used. And we propose a procedure which is organized with 7 steps. To understand the logic, a numerical manufacturing simulation will be presented. This method is a incorporating decision model on determining the constraint on multi parameters with experts.h experts.

  • In this paper, the proper rebate level can be decided in programs of energy savings by solving an optimization problem with an objective function, which satisfies a maximum value of total energy savings. And then, each prevalence amount is estimated by using virtual Bass model which is a function of rebate level, instead of the conventional Bass model. Finally, by cost/benefit analysis of the estimated prevalence amounts, the priority order is obtained for the investment of each program. The priority order obtained in this way may result the improvement of investment efficiency for DSM(Demand-Side Management) programs and the reasonable plan decision for supply and demand in power system.
