산업안전보건경영 활동이 기업경영에 미치는 영향에 대한 실증적 연구 (An Empirical Study on the Impact of the Activities in Industrial Safety & Health Management on Business Management)

  • In today's industrial society, one observes fierce competition aiming at profit generation among companies, and the utilization of complex machineries and cutting edge science and technology constitutes a constant threat to the life, body, and health of employees. In such a context, it is precisely the purpose of the Industrial Safety and Health Act that is in force to provide protection to the life and health of employees against hazardous and harmful environment and the role of enterprises becomes more and more important in the law. The Industrial Safety and Health Act places the responsibility for preventing industrial accidents on the shoulders of the business employer by providing safety and health information relating to current employees and creating an appropriate work environment. The employer must recognize the importance of prevention of industrial accident and must possess a business philosophy that places top priority on safety when it comes to company management. In light of such practical considerations, the present study approaches to find out the influence of safety and health management on business management from a statistical sample survey point of view. By doing this, the study hopes to show that a through safety management serves to protect the life and health of employees and raise profit for businesses. What is more, the study hopes to demonstrate that promoting a sound business culture can act as fertilizer that promotes the ushering in of a bright society.

Surprising Incentive: An Instrument for Promoting Safety Performance of Construction Employees

  • Background: In comparison with other industries, the construction industry still has a higher rate of fatal injuries, and thus, there is a need to apply new and innovative approaches for preventing accidents and promoting safe conditions at construction sites. Methods: In this study, the effectiveness of a new incentive system-the surprising incentive system-was assessed. One year after the implementation of this new incentive system, behavioral changes of employees with respect to seven types of activities were observed. Results: The results of this study showed that there is a significant relationship between the new incentive system and the safety performance of frontline employees. The new incentive system had a greater positive impact in the first 6 months since its implementation. In the long term, however, safety performance experienced a gradual reduction. Based on previous studies, all activities selected in this study are important indicators of the safety conditions at workplaces. However, there is a need for a comprehensive and simple-to-apply tool for assessing frontline employees' safety performance. Shortening the intervals between incentives is more effective in promoting safety performance. Conclusion: The results of this study proved that the surprising incentive would improve the employees' safety performance just in the short term because the surprising value of the incentives dwindle over time. For this reason and to maintain the surprising value of the incentive system, the amount and types of incentives need to be evaluated and modified annually or biannually.

THINNED PIPE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM OF KOREAN NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS

  • Local wall thinning and integrity degradation caused by several mechanisms, such as flow accelerated corrosion (FAC), cavitation, flashing and/or liquid drop impingements, are a main concern in carbon steel piping systems of nuclear power plant in terms of safety and operability. Thinned pipe management program (TPMP) had been developed and optimized to reduce the possibility of unplanned shutdown and/or power reduction due to pipe failure caused by wall thinning in the secondary side piping system. This program also consists of several technical elements such as prediction of wear rate for each component, prioritization of components for inspection, thickness measurement, calculation of actual wear and wear rate for each component. Decision making is associated with replacement or continuous service for thinned pipe components. Establishment of long-term strategy based on diagnosis of plant condition regarding overall wall thinning is also essential part of the program. Prediction models of wall thinning caused by FAC had been established for 24 operating nuclear plants. Long term strategies to manage the thinned pipe component were prepared and applied to each unit, which was reflecting plant specific design, operation, and inspection history, so that the structural integrity of piping system can be maintained. An alternative integrity assessment criterion and a computer program for thinned piping items were developed for the first time in the world, which was directly applicable to the secondary piping system of nuclear power plant. The thinned pipe management program is applied to all domestic nuclear power plants as a standard procedure form so that it contributes to preventing an accident caused by FAC.

A Discussion for Alteration of the Radiation Issues Based on the Clipping Analyses of Radiation Articles Reported in Korea

  • Background: Radiation accidents having occurred in recent containing the accident in Fukushima nuclear power plants of Japan were resulted to the increase in some public concern, anxiety and confusion for radiation or nuclear safety. The public anxiety for radiation is not being decreased though the announcements done in radiation research institutes in Korea. Therefore, this study aims at providing an effective system for radiation publicity to the public members by the clipping analysis for the radiation articles reported in the media. And, the relation between those radiation issues and the radiation perception to the public members is analyzed. Materials and Methods: The radiation articles reported by them in 2013 and 2014 have been collected, and they are then classified with the article characteristic, field and tendency. Classified articles have been reviewed by dividing as two year. The 210 articles have been compared for their tendencies, characteristics and fields by year reported, and their characteristic comparison by reported year are then reviewed. Results and Discussion: Though the frequency that the radiological accidents have occurred in worldwide is far low compared to the accidental frequencies occurred in the general industrial fields, the radiation perception is being still deteriorated because of its special problem, which is defined as exposure, contamination or radioactivity, about radiation. The basic principles for radiation communication were suggested for preventing some unnecessary misunderstanding due to the variation of understanding for radiation issues. Conclusion: It is necessary to perform a variety of strategies for the publicity in improving the radiation perception, to build a relationship with the press or the media and then to consistently interact with them. Radiation communication must be performed by radiation experts or complete charge department, and must be consistently performed and be taken predictable patterns.

철도 환경에서 ZigBee 수신기를 위한 효율적인 채널 추정 기법 (Efficient Channel Estimation Method for ZigBee Receiver in Train Environment)

  • 고속 열차에 무선 센서 네트워크를 구성하여 센서 데이터를 이용한 모니터링 시스템에 대한 연구들이 진행됨에 따라, 열차 외부와 내부 간의 통신 시에 발생하는 철도 무선 채널 특성에 대한 연구가 요구된다. 특히, 무선 채널에 다중경로 지연특성이 있는 경우 심볼간 간섭에 따른 성능 열화를 막기 위한 등화기 및 채널 추정기가 요구될 수 있다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 실제 고속열차에서 IEEE 802.15.4 규격으로 구성되는 ZigBee 송수신기를 이용하여 수신신호를 측정하고, 측정된 수신신호를 분석하여 다중경로가 최대 두 개인 다중경로 지연특성을 확인하였다. 그리고, 확인 된 철도 환경에서 다중경로 지연특성을 고려하여, IEEE 802.15.4 데이터 칩 시퀀스 특성을 이용한 저복잡도의 채널 추정 기법을 제안하고, 제안 기법에 대한 복잡도 및 성능 오차 분석 후 적용 가능성을 검증하였다.

  • A new advanced safety feature of DVI+ (Direct Vessel Injection Plus) for the APR+ (Advanced Power Reactor Plus), to mitigate the ECC (Emergency Core Cooling) bypass fraction and to prevent switching an ECC outlet to a break flow inlet during a DVI line break, is presented for an advanced DVI system. In the current DVI system, the ECC water injected into the downcomer is easily shifted to the broken cold leg by a high steam cross flow which comes from the intact cold legs during the late reflood phase of a LBLOCA (Large Break Loss Of Coolant Accident)For the new DVI+ system, an ECBD (Emergency Core Barrel Duct) is installed on the outside of a core barrel cylinder. The ECBD has a gap (From the core barrel wall to the ECBD inner wall to the radial direction) of 3/25~7/25 of the downcomer annulus gap. The DVI nozzle and the ECBD are only connected by the ECC water jet, which is called a hydrodynamic water bridge, during the ECC injection period. Otherwise these two components are disconnected from each other without any pipes inside the downcomer. The ECBD is an ECC downward isolation flow sub-channel which protects the ECC water from the high speed steam crossflow in the downcomer annulus during a LOCA event. The injected ECC water flows downward into the lower downcomer through the ECBD without a strong entrainment to a steam cross flow. The outer downcomer annulus of the ECBD is the major steam flow zone coming from the intact cold leg during a LBLOCA. During a DVI line break, the separated DVI nozzle and ECBD have the effect of preventing the level of the cooling water from being lowered in the downcomer due to an inlet-outlet reverse phenomenon at the lowest position of the outlet of the ECBD.

댁 내 안전관리를 위한 상황인지 시스템 설계 및 네트워크 트래픽 분석 (Design of a Context-aware System for Safety at Smart Home and Analysis of Network Traffics)

  • 댁내에서 발생할 수 있는 안전사고는 인간의 주의 또는 안전관리 시스템의 도움을 통해 미리 예방하거나 빠른 대처를 함으로써 그 피해를 최소화 할 수 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 댁내에서 발생할 수 있는 안전사고 중에서도 홈 네트워크 환경에서 주로 사용되는 센서와 무선 네트워크 기술을 활용해 예방/관리 할 수 있는 서비스를 도출하였고, 이러한 서비스를 제공하기 위해 댁내의 환경정보를 수집하여 위험상황을 인지하고 안전사고를 예방할 뿐 아니라 구조대상자와 사고 발생장소의 상황정보를 이용해 대응을 할 수 있는 댁내 안전관리 시스템을 설계하였다. 안전관리 시스템이 대처하는데 있어서의 센서 감지의 정확성을 평가하기 위해 상해손해를 일으킬 수 있는 사고유형을 센서를 활용하여 구현하였으며, OPNET 시뮬레이터를 이용해 이벤트 발생 횟수에 따라 발생하는 트래픽 양을 측정하여 평상시의 네트워크 트래픽 양과 비교하고, IEEE 802.15.4에서 제공하는 대역폭이 제안하는 안전관리 시스템이 필요로 하는 대역폭을 만족시키는지 평가하였다. 또한 종단 지연 시간 및 베터리 소모량을 기반으로 제안하는 안전관리 시스템에 좀 더 적합한 IEEE 802.15.4의 무선 패킷 데이터 전송방법을 결정하였다.

  • 현대사회의 정보화 기반 시스템은 매우 빠른 속도로 변하고 있으며, 무선통신과 센서 네트워크 분야 또한 변하고 있다. 센서 네트워크 분야에서는 RFID 태그를 이용하여 홈 네트워크, 각종 제어시스템, U-헬스케어 시스템과 물류 유통에 까지 그 영역을 확장하고 있다. 이중 RF태그를 이용한 제어 분야에 대한 연구는 본격적인 서비스 인프라를 지향하기 위해 진행되고 있으며, 각종 이력 정보와 주변 환경 정보를 센싱하고 제어하는 지능형 센서네트워크 구축을 위한 핵심 영역이 되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 취지의 한 기반으로 RFID 기술을 선박에 적용하여 선박 내 인원의 출입의 통제시키고 안전사고 방지를 위한 선박 내 보안과 안전을 위한 인원 관리시스템을 설계하고 구현하였다.

공랭식 응축기 관내 응축수 동결 방지에 관한 연구 (Preventing Freezing of Condensate inside Tubes of Air-Cooled Condenser)

  • 공랭식 응축기는 대기중의 공기를 이용해 스팀을 응축수로 전환시키는 발전용 냉각설비이다. 추운 겨울철, 공랭식 응축기는 열교환부 관내의 응축수가 동결되어 튜브 자체가 터지는 심각한 동파 문제를 수반한다. 이는 기존 공랭식 응축기 시스템이 가지는 튜브 출구의 구조적 문제로 인한 응축되지 않은 스팀 및 비응축성 기체의 역류가 주요 원인이 된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 유사 모의 공랭식 응축기 시스템을 설계 및 제작하여 기존의 공랭식 응축기 시스템이 가지고 있는 문제점을 구현하고, 이를 해결하기 위한 설계가 가능함을 실험적으로 증명하였다. 기존 공랭식 응축기 시스템의 작동 원리와 유사한 조건에서 실시한 실험에서 역류에 의한 튜브 동결을 관찰할 수 있었다. 반면 신개념 공랭식 응축기 시스템을 적용한 실험에서는 역류 및 동결 발생없이 열교환이 잘 이루어짐을 확인할 수 있었다.
