AlN/W계 복합재료의 기계적 특성과 미세구조 (Mechanical Properties and Microstructure of AlN/W Composites)

  • Monolithic AlN and AlN-W composites were fabricated by pressure-less sintering at 190$0^{\circ}C$ under nitrogen atmosphere and the influences of tungsten phase on the microstructure and mechanical properties were investi-gated. In the fabrication of sintered specimen no additive was used. And monolithic AlN showed substantial grain growth and low relative density. AlN-W composites were fully densified and grain growths of matrix were inhibited. The densification behavior of composites were inferred to be achieved through the liquid phase sintering process such as particle-rearrangement and solutino-reprecipitation. Also the oxid phases which is expected to form liquid phases duringsintering process were detected by XRD analysis. As the tungsten volume content increases fracture strength was decreased and fracture toughness was increased. It was suppo-sed that the strength decrease of composites with tungsten content was due to existence of interface phases. The subcritical crack growth behavior was observed from the stress-strain curve of composites. The effect of the secondary phase and interface phases on toughness in crease were studied through observation of crack propagation path and the influence of residual stress on crack propagation was investigated by X-ray residual stress measurement. In the result of residual stress measurement the compressive stress of matrix in composi-test was increased with tungsten volume content and the compressive stress distribution of matrix must have contributed to the inhibition of crack propagation.

  • Aluminum Oxide($Al_2O_3$) ceramics are excellent candidates for such applications due to their outstanding mechanical, thermal, and tribological properties. However, they are difficult to machine using conventional mechanical methods. Carbon fillers, such as carbon nanotubes(CNT) and graphene nanoplatelets(GNP)can be dispersed in a ceramic matrix to improve the mechanical and electrical properties. In this study, CNT and Graphene reinforced hybrid ceramic composites were fabricated using the spark plasma sintering method at a temperature of $1,500^{\circ}C$, pressure of 40 MPa, and soaking time of 10min. Besides this, the material properties such as microstructure, crystal structure, hardness, and electrical conductivity were analyzed using FE-SEM, XRD, Vickers, and the 4-point probe method. A micro machining test was carried out to compare the effects of the material properties and the machining performance for CNT and Graphene reinforced ceramic composites.

치과 CAD/CAM 가공용 합금블럭 제조 및 특성 관찰 (A manufacturing process and characteristic observation of alloy blocks for dental CAD/CAM system)

  • Purpose: Automatic dental prosthesis manufacturing process was accelerated by the spread of dental CAD / CAM system. The CAD / CAM system with milling alloys were needed supplement. So, sintered alloy blocks were introduced. In this study, we want to study sintered alloy block. And to evaluate the alloy block manufacture and alloy properties. Methods: The alloy powders were prepared by high pressure water dispersion method. The sintered alloy blocks were prepared by low temperature pressing method. Their components observation were EDX, and the alloy structure was observed by XRD. Results: Co-Cr alloy powders were observed to have a circle shape with an average diameter of about $100{\mu}m$ and a Ni-Cr alloy powder had a circle shape with an average diameter of about $50{\mu}m$. The Co-Cr alloy block is composed of Co (34.62 wt%), Cr (17.33 wt%), Mo (2.98 wt%), Si (0.36 wt%) and C (44.17 wt%). The Ni-Cr alloy powder was composed of Ni (40.29 wt%), Cr (19.37 wt%), Mo (3.53 wt%), Si (0.52 wt%) and C (33.18 wt%). The peak of the Co and CoCr peaks were observed in the CoCr alloy body by the means of XRD study. Cr2Ni3 of the peak was observed in the Ni-Cr alloy material. Conclusion : As a result, the following conclusions were obtained. 1. Prepared by high-pressure water-law Co-Cr alloy powder has an average diameter $100{\mu}m$, Ni-Cr alloy powder was found to have the form of sphere having an average diameter $50{\mu}m$. 2. Co-Cr alloy and Ni-Cr alloy block produced by low-temperature processing showed a certain ratio. 3. In the XRD study, Co phase appeared in Co-Cr alloy block after sintering. and Cr2Ni3 phase appeared in Ni-Cr alloy block after sintering.

Effect of pre-annealing conditions on critical current density of Bi-2223 tapes

  • Bi-2223 superconducting wires with 55 filaments were fabricated by stacking, drawing process with different heat-treatment histories. Two kinds of powders were prepared. One was pre-annealed at 760-820 $^{\circ}C$ and low oxygen partial pressure, and the other was only calcined state. Before rolling process, round wires were pre-annealed at 760 -820 $^{\circ}C$ and in a low oxygen partial pressure. We confirmed that pre-annealing step was to transform Bi-2212 orthorhombic structure from Bi-2212 tetragonal structure and to reduce the formation of second phases at superconducting wire. However Bi-2223 phases were formed at higher pre-annealing temperature. Bi-2223 conductor was needed frequently annealing at low temperature because pre-annealing at precursor powder brought about decrease in workability. We could achieve highest Je of 6500 A/$\textrm{cm}^2$ at the tape using Bi-2212 orthorhombic phase by introduced slightly overheating at the 1st sintering process.

  • Nanopowders of MgO, $Al_2O_3$ and $SiO_2$ were made by high energy ball milling. The rapid sintering of nanostructured $MgAl_2O_4-Mg_2SiO_4$ composites was investigated by a high-frequency induction heating sintering process. The advantage of this process is that it allows very quick densification to near theoretical density and inhibition of grain growth. Nanocrystalline materials have received much attention as advanced engineering materials with improved physical and mechanical properties. As nanomaterials possess high strength, high hardness, excellent ductility and toughness, undoubtedly, more attention has been paid for the application of nanomaterials. Highly dense nanostructured $MgAl_2O_4-Mg_2SiO_4$ composites were produced with simultaneous application of 80MPa pressure and induced output current of total power capacity (15 kW) within 2min. The sintering behavior, gain size and mechanical properties of $MgAl_2O_4-Mg_2SiO_4$ composites were investigated.

부분 설절제술을 받은 환자에서의 연마면 인상 및 Direct Metal Laser Sintering 을 이용한 총의치 제작 증례 (Complete denture making in a patient of partial glossectomy using polished surface impression taking and direct metal laser sintering method: A case report)

  • 성공적인 총의치를 위해서는 유지, 안정, 지지 세가지 요소가 필수적으로 요구된다. 또한 심한 치조제의 흡수나 수술에 의한 반흔으로 인해 하악 설측변연 형성이 어려운 총의치 제작시에는 무교두 치아배열, 연마면 인상, 무게 보강 내부금속 삽입, 의치 접착 크림의 사용 등의 다양한 고려사항이 필요하다. 본 환자의 경우 심한 치주염으로 심하게 골흡수가 된 무치악 치조제를 가졌고, 또한 설암으로 인한 설절제술로 인해 연조직의 문제를 가진 환자이다. 부가적인 유지와 안정을 얻기 위해 연마면 인상과 내부 보강 금속구조물의 삽입 그리고 최소 가압 인상 등의 방법을 적용하여 보다 나은 임상적 결과를 나타내었다. 또한 원하는 3차원적 형태를 정확하게 부여하고 제작시 복잡한 기공과정을 줄인 금속 구조물을 제작하기 위해 최소 가압 인상 채득과 Direct metal laser sintering이 사용되었다.

자기펄스성형이 적용된 Ti-Mn-Cu 합금의 미세구조 및 기계적 특성 (Microstructure and Mechanical Property of Ti-Mn-Cu Alloys with Magnetic Pulsed Compaction)

  • Ti-based alloys are widely used in biomaterials owing to their excellent biocompatibility. In this study, Ti-Mn-Cu alloys are prepared by high-energy ball milling, magnetic pulsed compaction, and pressureless sintering. The microstructure and microhardness of the Ti-Mn-Cu alloys with variation of the Cu addition and compaction pressure are analyzed. The correlation between the composition, compaction pressure, and density is investigated by measuring the green density and sintered density for samples with different compositions, subjected to various compaction pressures. For all compositions, it is confirmed that the green density increases proportionally as the compaction pressure increases, but the sintered density decreases owing to gas formation from the pyrolysis of TiH2 powders and reduction of oxides on the surface of the starting powders during the sintering process. In addition, an increase in the amount of Cu addition changes the volume fractions of the α-Ti and β-Ti phases, and the microstructure of the alloys with different compositions also changes. It is demonstrated that these changes in the phase volume fraction and microstructure are closely related to the mechanical properties of the Ti-Mn-Cu alloys.

미세 유리 광부품 성형용 초경합금 코어의 표면거칠기 향상에 관한 연구 (Improvement of surface quality of Tungsten-carbide core for glass micro molding)

  • Glass molding is an advantageous method to manufacture glass micro optical components. However, it is difficult to make Tungsten Carbide core for glass microlens array. We have developed novel method to fabricate Tungsten Carbide core for micro glass components using pressure forming. Silicon masters were fabricated by micro machining. Tungsten Carbide core was fabricated by pressure forming and sintering. And we made high quality surface of Tungsten Carbide core by using the magnetic-field-assisted polishing process.

Impact Fracture Characteristics on Fabricating Process of $Nb/MoSi_2$ Laminate Composite (I)

  • [ $Nb/MoSi_2$ ]laminate composites have been successfully fabricated by hot pressing in a graphite mould. Lamination of Nb foil and $MoSi_2$ layer showed a sufficient improvement in the absorbed impact energy compared to that of monolithic $MoSi_2$ material. The impact value of $Nb/MoSi_2$ laminate composites obviously is reduced when sintered at temperatures higher than 1523K, even if the composite density contributing to impact load increased along with fabricating temperatures. Impact value of laminate composites was also drastically decreased with the growth of reaction layer after the heat treatment. However, it was effective to increase the pressure at the same sintering temperature for the improvement of the impact value.

초고압 소결된 다이아몬드/실리콘 카바이드 복합재료의 계면특성 및 기계적 특성 (Interfacial Characteristics and Mechanical Properties of HPHT Sintered Diamond/SiC Composites)

  • Diamond/SiC composites are appropriate candidate materials for heat conduction as well as high temperature abrasive materials because they do not form liquid phase at high temperature. Diamond/SiC composite consists of diamond particles embedded in a SiC binding matrix. SiC is a hard material with strong covalent bonds having similar structure and thermal expansion with diamond. Interfacial reaction plays an important role in diamond/SiC composites. Diamond/SiC composites were fabricated by high temperature and high pressure (HPHT) sintering with different diamond content, single diamond particle size and bi-modal diamond particle size, and also the effects of composition of diamond and silicon on microstructure, mechanical properties and thermal properties of diamond/SiC composite were investigated. The critical factors influencing the dynamics of reaction between diamond and silicon, such as graphitization process and phase composition, were characterized. Key factor to enhance mechanical and thermal properties of diamond/SiC composites is to keep strong interfacial bonding at diamond/SiC composites and homogeneous dispersion of diamond particles in SiC matrix.
