  • In this paper, structural integrity evaluation of reactor pressure vessel bottom head without penetration nozzles in core melting accident has been performed. Considering the analysis results of thermal load, weight of molten core debris and internal pressure, thermal load is the most significant factor in reactor vessel bottom head. The failure probability was evaluated according to the established failure criteria and the evaluation showed that the equivalent plastic strain results are lower than critical strain failure criteria. Thermal-structural coupled analyses show that the existence of elastic zone with a lower stress than yield strength is in the middle of bottom head thickness. As a result of analysis, the elastic zone became narrow and moved to the internal wall as the internal pressure increases, and it is evaluated that the structural integrity of reactor vessel is maintained under core melting accident.

  • Gasification has been regarded as a very important technology to decrease environmental pollution and to obtain higher efficiency. The gasification process converts carbon containing feedstock into a synthesis gas, composed primarily of CO and $H_2$. And the synthesis gas can be used as a source for power generation or chemical material production. Through more than nine years, IAE developed and upgraded several gasification/melting pilot plant system, and obtained a good quality synthesis gas. This paper illustrates the gasification characteristics and operation results of two 3 ton/day synthesis gas production facilities. One is entrained-bed slagging type coal gasifier system which is normally operated in the temperature range of $1,400\~1,450^{\circ}C,\;8\~10$ bar pressure. And the other is fixed-bed type gasification/melting furnace system using MSW and industrial wastes as a feedstock.

  • The NdBaCuO superconducting samples were prepared by the Zone melting under low oxygen partial pressure. After the zone-melting the oxygenation process of the NdBaCuO samples in a oxygen flow furnace was studied. In order to compare the oxygenation condition the sintering NdBaCuO samples were studied also. In the study it is found that the optimum temperature for the oxygenation is $350^{\circ}C$, and the oxygen flow speed, the sample volume and the surface area of the sample would influence the oxygenation and the oxygen content.

  • As a starting point of investigating what molecular dynamic simulations can reveal about the nature of atomic level of heating and cooling process, argon described by the LJ potential is considered. Stepwise heating and cooling of constant rates are simulated in the NPT (constant number, pressure and temperature) ensemble. Hysteresis is found due to the superheating and supercooling. Drastic change of volume and energy is involved with phase change, but the melting point can not be obtained by simply observing the changes of these quantities. Since liquid and solid phases can co-exist at the same temperature, Gibbs free energy should be calculated to find the temperature where the Gibbs free energy of liquid is equal to that of the solid since the equilibrium state is the state of minimum Gibbs free energy. The obtained melting temperature, $T^*=0.685$, is close to that of the experiment with only 2% error.

  • Recently, experimental studies to prevent explosive spalling based on spalling mechanism and addition of Polypropylene fiber in high strength concrete (HSC) are performed actively. However, with respect to ultra high strength concrete (UHSC), its compact internal structure is more difficult release vapor pressure at rapid rising temperature compared to HSC. Therefore, in this study, an experiment was conducted to evaluate spalling properties of UHSC using ${\Box}$ $100mm{\times}100{\times}H200mm$ rectangular specimen according to ISO-834 standard fire curve. With respect melting point of fiber, three fiber types of Polyethylene, Polypropylene, and Nylon fibers with melting temperature of $110^{\circ}C$, $165^{\circ}C$, and $225^{\circ}C$, respectively, were considered. Mixed fiber of 0.15% and 0.25% of concrete volume was used to consider spalling properties based on water vapor pressure release. Then, TGDTA test on fiber and FEM analysis were performed. The results showed that it is difficult to prevent initial spalling without loss of fiber mass even if fiber melting temperature is low. Also, in preventing thermal spalling, fiber that melts to rapidly create porosity within 10 minutes of fire is more effective than that of low melting temperature property of fiber.

  • This work reports a set of approximate analytical solutions describing the initial transient process of close-contact melting between a rectangular parallelepiped solid and a flat plate on which either constant temperature or constant heat flux is imposed. Not only relative motion of the solid block tangential to the heating plate, but also the density difference between the solid and liquid phase is incorporated in the model. The thin film approximation reduces the force balance between the solid weight and liquid pressure, and the energy balance at the melting front into a simultaneous ordinary differential equation system. The normalized model equations admit compactly expressed analytical solutions which include the already approved two-dimensional solutions as a subset. In particular, the normalized liquid film thickness is independent of all pertinent parameters, thereby facilitating to define the transition period of close-contact melting. A unique behavior of the solid descending velocity due to the density difference is also resolved by the present solution. A new geometric function which alone represents the three-dimensional effect is introduced, and its properties are clarified. One of the representative results is that heat transfer is at least enhanced at the expense of the increase in friction as the cross-sectional shape deviates from the square under the same contact area.

  • Extruder is divided to greatly three part at extrusion process. First, by hopper(Hopper) second, barrel(Barrel) with Screw that is point of extruder and third that is raw material supply wealth extrusion into dies(DIES) Part that decide shape of do product greatly divide. Hopper is role that distribute in raw material supply wealth (Feeding zone) of Screw preserving raw material in state of high quality how at extrusion process, and make distributed raw material as Screw in barrel rotates and 3 stage and inflicting heat and pressure raw material melting(Melting) state. And raw material of melting state Screw's measuring stoker(Metering zone) whereabouts anaphora do and product is completed through pipe channel of dies. Dies that is the most important as Screw in extrusion is part that is last part of melting state process of raw material and causes huge effect in quality of product. If more than design of dies happens, manufacture itself of dies is hard, but there are a lot of amount of losses accordingly. In this research, make pipe channel that raw material of melting state flows in dies can present dies basic design method through flow analysis of ideal pipe channel using CFdesign.

  • The present paper reports spontaneous steam explosions observed in fuel coolant interaction experiments using prototypic reactor materials. Pure ZrO$_2$ and a mixture of UO$_2$ and ZrO$_2$ are used. A high temperature molten material in the form of a jet is poured into a subcooled water pool located in a pressure vessel. An induction skull melting technique is used for the melting of the reactor material. In both tests using pure ZrO$_2$ and a mixture of UO$_2$ and ZrO$_2$, either a quenching or a spontaneous steam explosion was observed. The morphology of debris and pressure profile clearly indicate the differences between the qunching cases and explosion cases. The dynamic pressure. dynamic impulse, water temperature, melt temperature, and static pressure Inside the containment chamber were measured . As the spontaneous steam explosion for the reactor material is firstly observed in the present experiments, the results of present experiments could be a siginificant step forward the understanding the explosion of the reactor material.

  • $^{3}$He melting curve thermometer is made, tested, and compared with Greywall scale. The experimental results show that we can identify the temperature within a few percentage. To improve the accuracy of our thermometer we need temperature fixed points like $^{3}$He superfluid phase transition temperature.
