Dual-Curable Acrylic Pressure-Sensitive Adhesives Based on UV and Thermal Processes

  • Several dual-curable acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSA) were synthesized by the radical polymerization of acrylic monomers containing benzophenone, hydroxyl, and alkyl groups. The optimum extent of UV-induced cure was determined by varying the content of the benzophenone groups (the photoinitiator) from 0.5 to 1.5 wt%. The weight average molecular weight of the polymers obtained ranged from 300,000 to 700,000 amu. The coated pressure-sensitive adhesives were cured either by short UV exposure to induce the grafting of acrylic polymers, or by heating for 6 hat $60^{\circ}C$ to promote the reactions between the polyisocyanates and hydroxyl groups. The dual-curing behavior was determined by monitoring both processes quantitatively by infrared spectroscopy. The developed dual-curable acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesives were found to compensate for the limitations in UV-induced curing of thick coatings.

  • Pressure Sensitive Paint(PSP)는 압력에 반응하는 도료를 뜻한다. PSP를 이용하여 압력을 측정하기 위해서는 Paint Calibration과 PSP를 도포한 모델의 풍동실험이 필요하다. PSP는 이 두 가지의 결과를 이용한 이미지의 후처리과정을 통하여 압력정보를 포함한 이미지를 얻을 수 있는 신기술이다. 본 연구에서는 PSP에 필요한 장치 및 설비들을 구성하고 PSP를 이용하여 초음속 유동장 내의 압력측정 실험을 실시하였다. 압력측정 실험은 초음속 유동장의 노즐 벽면의 압력을 측정하였으며, 측정 압력에 대해서는 압력공(Pressure Tap)에 의한 결과값과 전산해석의 결과값을 통하여 비교하였고, 그 실험 결과를 바탕으로 PSP는 표면압력을 측정함에 있어서 압력공을 이용한 기존의 방식을 대체할 수 있는 기술임을 확인하였다.

  • We have fabricated pressure sensitive paint films consisting of PtTFPP activators dispersed in fluorinated polymer matrix. This matrix material is unique in its composition and structure. We evaluated the oxygen quenching effects, and thus the pressure sensitivity, of the fabricated films in terms of various processing parameters. Based on the experimental results, we anticipate that a good but new pressure sensitive paint would be presented through further elaboration of the polymer compositions and optimization of the processing conditions.

  • A new algorithm, CBIR (Correlation-Based Image Registration) was proposed to improve the resolution of image registration for PSP (Pressure-Sensitive Paint). The local displacement vectors were obtained by finding the displacement which maximizes the cross-correlation between two interrogation windows of 'wind-off' and 'wind-on' images. A recursive multigrid processing was employed to increase the non-linear spatial resolutions. The variations of image were precisely measured without identifying the control points.

  • Film cooling effectiveness on a flat plate was measured with pressure sensitive paint. The pressure sensitive paint(PSP) changes the intensity of its emissive light with pressure and the characteristic was used in film cooling effectiveness measurement. The film coolants were air and nitrogen, and by comparing the intensity of PSP coated surface with each coolant, the film cooling effectiveness was calculated. Three blowing ratio of 0.5, 1, and 2 were tested with two mainstream turbulence intensities. Results clearly showed the effect of blowing ratio and mainstream turbulence intensity. As the blowing ratio increases, the film cooling effectiveness was decreased near the film cooling holes. However, the film cooling effectiveness far downstream from the injection hole was higher for higher blowing ratio. As the mainstream turbulence intensity increased, the film cooling effectiveness was decreased at far downstream from the injection hole.

Unsteady Pressure Measurement of Fan Stator Vane Using Pressure Sensitive Paint

  • The pressure sensitive paint (PSP) technique has been well established in external flow field. However, there are still unresolved issues in internal flow field. This work was focused on the application to unsteady pressure measurement of fan flow field. The PSP measurement system was established and the image processing software was developed. First, the performance of PSP was investigated at the static cell. Then the unsteady PSP measurement was carried out at fan test facility. PSP data images were acquired from the suction and pressure surface of stator vanes. Pressure distributions on the surface of the stator vane were detected non-intrusively. The issues of image acquisition and image processing were clarified through the practical PSP application to fan flow field.

  • Materials that can be used for 3D printing have been developed in terms of phase and functionality. Materials should also be easily printed with high accuracy. In recent years, the concept of 4D printing has been extended to materials whose physical properties such as shape or volume can change depending on the environment. Typically, such high-performance 3D printing materials include bio-inks and inks for sensors. This study deals with the optimization of the manufacturing method to improve the functional properties of the pressure sensitive material, which can be used as a sensor based on change of the resistance according to the pressure. Specifically, the number of milling for dispersion, the ratio of hardener for controlling elasticity, and the content of MWCNTs were optimized. As a result, a method of manufacturing a highly sensitive pressure-sensitive ink capable of use in 3D printing was introduced.

CNG 용기용밸브의 압력방출장치 성능에 관한 연구 (A Study on Performance of Pressure Relief Devices of CNG Cylinder Valves)

  • 이 연구는 천연가스버스에 장착된 용기가 국부화염에 집중적으로 노출되었을 때나 외기온도가 높은 여름철 충전과정에서 과 충전되었을 때 용기파열을 방지하기 위한 방안으로 압력방출장치의 성능을 확인하고 확대 적용할 목적으로 의도되었다. 열사이클링 실험결과, $-40^{\circ}C{\sim}82^{\circ}C$ 인증기준에서 가스누출요건을 모두 충족하였지만 $-45^{\circ}C{\sim}135^{\circ}C$의 가속조건에서는 3개사 시험편중 2개사 시험편의 오링이 손상되었다. 또한 온도감응형 PRD의 평균작동시간은 액체봉입식이 1분 39초가 걸렸고, 가용합금식이 2분 31초가 소요되어 액체봉입식이 가용합금식보다 약 1분 정도 빠름을 나타내었다. 또한 압력감응형 PRD의 작동압력은 가속조건에서 약 32.1 MPa을 나타내었고 인증기준에서의 압력감응형 PRD의 파열압력은 $30.7{\sim}32.1\;MPa$를 기록하였다. 이상의 실험을 통해서 압력방출장치의 성능은 온도감응형 PRD의 경우, 액체봉입식이 가용합금식보다 화염에 더 효과적이며, 압력 감응형 PRD의 파열압력은 외부온도 및 반복가압이 파열판의 작동압력에 크게 영향을 미치지 않음을 확인할 수 있었다.
