지역신문 기사생산에 영향을 미치는 요인에 대한 질적 연구 "광주드림" 기사생산을 중심으로 (A Qualitative Study on the Forces that Influence the Article Production of Local Newspapers Focus on the Article Production of Gwangjudream)

  • 이 연구는 무료 일간지임에도 불구하고 지역 언론으로서 나름의 역할을 하고 있는 것으로 평가 받고 있는 "광주드림"의 기사생산과정을 참여관찰과 심층면접을 통해 면밀히 밝히고자 하였다. 특히 기사생산에 영향을 끼치는 요인(힘)들과 이들 사이의 상호작용을 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 통해, 광주지역에 신문들이 난립하고 있지만 지역 언론 본연의 기능을 제대로 수행하고 있는 신문이 거의 없는 현실과 문제들에 대한 이해를 심화시키고 그 개선 방향을 조망하는 데 기여하고자 하였다. 연구결과, "광주드림" 기사생산에 영향을 끼치는 요인(힘)은 크게 다섯 가지로 나타났다; 1) 역사적 요인으로 지역 언론 본연의 기능을 지향했던 "광주드림"의 창간배경, 2) 개인적 요인으로 "광주드림" 구성원들의 주류 사회와 문화에 대한 비판적 성향, 3) 조직적 요인으로 비위계적 조직문화와 편집권의 독립, 4) 관행적 요인으로 출입처 제도의 폐지, 5) 경제적 요인으로 광고주의 영향력, 재정적 열악성, 그리고 독자확보를 위한 경쟁. 역사적 요인과 개인적 요인은 기사생산을 위한 기본적 환경으로, 조직적 요인과 관행적 요인은 실질적 환경으로 작동하면서, "광주드림"이 지역 정치권력에 대한 감시와 비판, 지역성과 시민밀착성, 소수자들에 대한 배려 등과 같은 특성(차별성)들을 지니도록 하였다. 경제적 요인은 이러한 "광주드림"의 특성(차별성) 들을 약화시키는 환경을 제공하였는데, 특히 재정적 열악성은 통신기사의 의존도 그리고 심층성과 전문성이 낮은 기사의 출현가능성을 높였고, 독자확보를 위한 경쟁은 "광주드림" 기사의 연성화를 불러일으켰다. 이 연구의 결과는 지역신문사들이 지역 언론 본연의 기능을 제대로 수행하고 있지 못한 문제를 과도하게 경제적 열악함에 의한 것으로 치부하는 지역 언론계나 학계의 사고 경향에 문제를 제기한다. 또한 지역 신문사들을 살리기 위한 정부차원의 지원은 계속되어야 하지만 지역 신문사들에 대한 정량적 평가를 기준으로 이루어지는 단순한 경제적 지원만으로는 그 목적을 달성하기 어렵다는 것도 시사한다고 하겠다.

한국 근대 자수문화 연구 (A Study of Korean Culture of Embroidery Art in Modern Times)

  • This study examines the processes and characteristics of modern Korean embroidery art from the beginning of Korean modern times to 1945 which was the year of independence from Japan. An objective basis is presented by the analysis of articles and illustrations from the press and publications of the corresponding times. The significance of this study is to research the modern Korean embroidery art, which connected traditional times with modern Korean culture in order to investigate its identity. Due to Korea's modern embroidery art being started in the Japanese colonial times, there are some limits in it because of it being influenced by Western modern embroidery art and Japanese embroidery design. However, modern Korean embroidery art expanded from the private space to public space such as schools, open lectures and exhibitions. It has also accepted diverse foreign embroidery forms, which have been commercialized and accepted as art. The embroidery craft as commerce and art has given women the chance to achieve economic independence and to improve their social status. Modern Korean embroidery was art for the modern woman who had been educated in academic art, as well as a liberal art for wealthy housewives. It was the foundation of economic independence for poor rural women. It can be concluded that Modern Korean embroidery art has been accepted and developed by women in modern times.

패션기업의 SNS (Social Network Service) 활용 현황에 대한 사례연구 - Twitter를 중심으로 - (Case Study of SNS (Social Networks Service) Application on Fashion Corporate - Focused on Twitter -)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine how recently fashion corporate did use SNS applications for their product promotion strategies as case studies, and to provide what kinds of SNS marketing strategies would be developed for fashion corporate. Specifically, this study was focused on Twitter among SNS applications. For this study, Internet webs, news paper, articles, and other press work were used for resources. Five fashion corporate such as Buckaroo, MLB, North Faces, Kolon, and ABC Mart were analyzed. As the results, first, fashion corporate used Twitter as the marketing tool for their product promotion. Second, they tried to make an increase the numbers of Twitter follower from their customers. Third, Twitter was used for making higher customer loyalty by fashion corporate through a variety of program such as special events, game, music, or viral marketing. However, there were still some limitations on fashion corporate's Twitter usage, compared to other non-fashion corporate. Thus, fashion corporate needs to provide more creative and unique Twitter marketing strategies. Therefore, based on these results, fashion brand merchandising marketing strategies of fashion products would be provided from this study.

Evaluation of incorporating metakaolin to evaluate durability and mechanical properties of concrete

  • Concrete is known to be the most used construction material worldwide. The environmental and economic aspects of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) containing concrete have led research studies to investigate the possibility of incorporating supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) in concrete. Metakaolin (MK) is one SCM with high pozzolanic reactivity generated throughout the thermal activation of high purity kaolinite clay at a temperature ranging from $500^{\circ}C$ to $800^{\circ}C$. Although many studies have evaluated the effect of MK on mechanical properties of concrete and have reported positive effects, limited articles are considering the effect of MK on durability properties of concrete. Considering the lifetime assessment of concrete structures, the durability of concrete has become of particular interest recently. In the present work, the influences of MK on mechanical and durability properties of concrete mixtures are evaluated. Various experiments such as slump flow test, compressive strength, water permeability, freeze and thaw cycles, rapid chloride penetration and surface resistivity tests were carried out to determine mechanical and durability properties of concretes. Concretes made with the incorporation of MK revealed better mechanical and durability properties compared to control concretes due to combined pozzolanic reactivity and the filler effect of MK.

Dynamic analysis of higher order shear-deformable nanobeams resting on elastic foundation based on nonlocal strain gradient theory

  • Present investigation deals with the free vibration characteristics of nanoscale-beams resting on elastic Pasternak's foundation based on nonlocal strain-gradient theory and a higher order hyperbolic beam model which captures shear deformation effect without using any shear correction factor. The nanobeam is lying on two-parameters elastic foundation consist of lower spring layers as well as a shear layer. Nonlocal strain gradient theory takes into account two scale parameters for modeling the small size effects of nanostructures more accurately. Hamilton's principal is utilized to derive the governing equations of embedded strain gradient nanobeam and, after that, analytical solutions are provided for simply supported conditions to solve the governing equations. The obtained results are compared with those predicted by the previous articles available in literature. Finally, the impacts of nonlocal parameter, length scale parameter, slenderness ratio, elastic medium, on vibration frequencies of nanosize beams are all evaluated.

Softening and hardening tuned mass dampers

  • Reducing response of buildings during earthquakes by mass dampers, has been examined in many articles and books. Nowadays, many researchers are trying to realistically examine this type of dampers by new methods of performance. In this paper, for the better study of tuned mass damper (TMD), two schematic models are presented for a passive TMD with softening stiffness (softening TMD) and a passive TMD with hardening stiffness (hardening TMD). Then by modeling and analysis of the damper on a single degree of freedom (SDOF) structure and an 11-story steel building, the dampers performance was evaluated. State space was used for damper and structure modeling and to solve nonlinear equations, the Newton-Raphson method was used. The results show that when the structure is subjected to the Chi-Chi earthquake, response of the sixth floor in the system without TMD reduces 54.0% in comparison to the structure with softening TMD. This percentage of reduction for hardening TMD is 55.0%. Also for the Tabas earthquake, reduction in the RMS acceleration of the sixth floor in the system with hardening TMD is 96.2% more than the structure without TMD. This percentage of reduction for hardening TMD is 96.3%.

  • Stability and loosening of implanted femoral stems in Total Hip Replacement have been well established as barriers to the primary concerns of osseointegration and long term implant survival. In-vitro experiments and finite element modeling have for years been used as a primary tool to assess the bone stem interface with variable methodologies leading to a wide range of micromotion, interference fit and stress shielding values in the literature. The current study aims to provide a comprehensive review of currently utilized methodologies for in-vitro mechanical testing as well as finite element modeling of both micromotion and interference of implanted femoral stems. A total of 12 studies detailed in 33 articles were selected for inclusion. Experimental values of micromotion ranged from 12 to $182{\mu}m$ while finite element analysis reported a wider range from 2.74 to $1,277{\mu}m$. Only two studies were found that modeled bone/implant contact with consideration for interference fit. In studies evaluating stem micromotion in THA, the reference surface at the bone/stem interface should be well defined. Additionally, the amount of penetration considered should be disclosed and associated with bone density and roughness.

Buckling analysis of graphene oxide powder-reinforced nanocomposite beams subjected to non-uniform magnetic field

  • Present article deals with the static stability analysis of compositionally graded nanocomposite beams reinforced with graphene oxide powder (GOP) is undertaken once the beam is subjected to an induced force caused by nonuniform magnetic field. The homogenized material properties of the constituent material are approximated through Halpin-Tsai micromechanical scheme. Three distribution types of GOPs are considered, namely uniform, X and O. Also, a higher-order refined beam model is incorporated with the dynamic form of the virtual work's principle to derive the partial differential motion equations of the problem. The governing equations are solved via Galerkin's method. The introduced mathematical model is numerically validated presenting a comparison between the results of present work with responses obtained from previous articles. New results for the buckling load of GOP reinforced nanocomposites are presented regarding for different values of magnetic field intensity. Besides, other investigations are performed to show the impacts of other variants, such as slenderness ratio, boundary condition, distribution type and so on, on the critical stability limit of beams made from nanocomposites.

Discourse Analysis of News Articles on the U.S and China Trade War in Korean Press

  • In the global economy, trade is not confined in geological boundaries, enhancing the international relation among countries. However, the trade tension between the largest economy and the second-largest economy raise concerns among the world economies, enhancing the uncertainties around world. In particular, the trade tension between the two countries is highly related with South Korea's trade balance, because the country is highly dependent on the trade with the two countries. Given this, we analyzed the news editorials published in Korean quality newsaper, with related to U.S. and China Trade War by looking at the ideological perspectives of news outlets or journalists to the issue within the framework of critical discourse analysis. In particular we gave a special attention to the attitude to each country in order to investigate their ideological stance to the country, following van Dijk (1998)' ideological square. The results are as follows: first, the Chosun Ilbo emphasized 'their' bad properties directly and aggresively, while the Hankyoreh designated the U.S. as a member of an out-group, thus mitigating 'our' bad quatilies; Second, the two strategies of emphasis and mitigation enabled both newspapers to reinforce in-group homogeneity and out-group exclusion. Thus, we could conclude that the editorial is a clear indicator to show the news outlet's ideological stance to each country in regard to the trade issue.

몽골에 대한 국내 뉴스 토픽 모델링: 한몽 수교 이후 양국 관계 보도 양상 변화를 중심으로 (Modeling Domestic News Topics for Mongolia: Focusing on Changes in Press on Diplomatic Relations between the two countries after the establishment of Diplomatic ties between Korea and Mongolia)

  • 본 연구는 한국과 몽골이 수교 이후부터 지금까지 외교관계 격상을 이루는 동안 국내에서는 어떤 분야에 관심을 가져왔는지 확인하고자 몽골과 관련된 국내 언론 보도를 중심으로 빅데이터 분석을 실시하였다. '몽골' 키워드로 검색된 13만여 개의 기사를 분석 대상으로 삼고, 관계 격상일을 기준으로 4개의 시기로 나누어 토픽 모델링을 실시하였다. 시기별 주요 토픽을 도출하여 살펴본 결과, 관계 격상에 따라 사라지는 이슈도 있었으나 초기에 나타났던 이슈들이 상당수 유지되면서 여러 분야의 이슈가 추가되어 나타나는 양상을 보였다. 즉, 기존의 정치, 역사 위주의 협력에서 문화, 교육, 보건, 항공, 기후 등으로 분야가 다양화되고 있었으며, 특히 민간교류 측면에서 토픽이 더욱 세분화되어 발전하는 양상을 보였다. 본 연구는 양국 간 외교 관계 연구에서 기존에 시도되지 않았던 새로운 분석 방법을 시도함으로써 막대한 양의 데이터를 바탕으로 결론의 신뢰성을 높이고 기존 연구에 새로운 시각을 제공하고 있다.
