The article describes the development of a novel dissipative bracing connection device (identified by the acronym DRBrC) for concentrically braced frames in steel and composite structures. The origins of the device trace back to the seminal work of Kelly, Skinner and Heine (1972), and, more directly related, to the PIN-INERD device, overcoming some of its limitations and greatly improving the replaceability characteristics. The connection device is composed of a rigid housing, connected to both the brace and the beam-column connection (or just the column), in which the axial force transfer is achieved by four-point bending of a dissipative pin. The experimental validation stages, presented in detail, consisted of a preliminary testing campaign, resulting in successive improvements of the original device design, followed by a systematic parametric testing campaign. That final campaign was devised to study the influence of the constituent materials (S235 and Stainless Steel, for the pin, and S355 and High Strength Steel, for the housing), of the geometry (four-point bending intermediate spans) and of the loading history (constant amplitude or increasing cyclic alternate). The main conclusions point to the most promising DRBrC device configurations, also presenting some suggestions in terms of the replaceability requirements.

Construction safety is a predominant hindrance in in-situ workflow and considered an unresolved issue. Current methods used for safety optimization and prediction, with limited exceptions, are paper-based, thus error prone, as well as time and cost ineffective. In an attempt to exploit the potential of BIM for safety, the objective of the proposed methodology is to automatically predict hazardous on-site conditions related to the route that the dozers follow during the different phases of the project. For that purpose, safety routes used by construction equipment from an origin to multiple destinations are computed using video cameras and their cycle times are calculated. The cycle times and factors; including weather and light conditions, are considered to be independent and identically distributed random variables (iid); and simulated using the Arena software. The simulation clock is set to 100 to observe the minor changes occurring due to external parameters. The validation of this technology explores the capabilities of BIM combined with simulation for enhancing productivity and improving safety conditions a-priori. Preliminary results of 262 measurements indicate that the proposed methodology has the potential to predict with 87% the location of exclusion zones. Also, the cycle time is estimated with an accuracy of 89%.
Purpose: This study developed a scale of nurses' stress and examined the validity and reliability of the scale. Methods: The scale was developed according to DeVellis' scale development procedure. Based on the Nursing Work Environment Stress model and the results of focus group interviews, 43 preliminary items were generated. A survey was conducted with 208 clinical nurses to test the psychometric properties of the scale. Both exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were employed to figure out and confirm the scale's theoretical structure statistically. In addition, content, convergent, and discriminative validity were evaluated and Cronbach's α was calculated to test internal reliability. Results: The final scale consisted of 19 items and verified four-factor structures. The structure of the scale was confirmed using confirmatory factor analysis, and it showed moderate correlations with the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory and Korean Nurses Occupational Stress Scale. Cronbach's α was .87. Conclusion: A scale of nurses' stress to nursing work was developed to embrace a wide range of nurses' psychological responses to nursing work based on the theoretical model.
Fashion stress is a pertinent aspect of modern consumer culture that has been underexplored in academic research. This study developed a conceptual framework of fashion stress and a multidimensional scale to measure consumers' fashion stress. The qualitative study included literature reviews on consumption stress, shopping stress, and consumer behavior, as well as focus group interviews to gain insight into various dimensions of fashion stress. NVivo 12.0 was used to analyze the qualitative data and identify core categories following the grounded theory methodology. The quantitative study involved a preliminary and a primary surveys to verify the validity and reliability of the fashion stress scale. A total of 220 questionnaires were used for data analysis. The results show that fashion stress consists of eight factors: care, shopping, fit, brand, financial, closet, style, and disposal. Choice difficulty plays a significant role in all factors of fashion stress. Moreover, shopping stress had a negative impact on impulse buying, while other factors such as fit, brand, closet, and disposal stress had a positive impact on impulse buying. Thus, fashion stress is a potential antecedent of impulsive consumer behavior. The results also confirm the validity and reliability of the scale. The fashion stress scale developed in this study offers researchers a valuable tool for assessing and understanding consumer experiences.
The purpose of this study was to develop the Post-bereavement Growth Inventory(PBGI) for the elderly and to evaluate its validity. The items for developing PBGI were compiled from a literature search, content validity review, and a preliminary survey. A main survey of 308 widowed persons(aged 60+) was conducted. The results were as follows. First, an exploratory factor analysis revealed six factors of the PBGI. The results of the confirmatory factor analysis supported a five-factor structure for the final 24 scale items of scale. Second, in terms of concurrent validity, the PGBI compared favorably with the "Personal Growth" scale from The Hogan Grief Reaction Checklist (HGRC: Hogan and Schimdt, 2001). Third, the results of contrast group validity tests demonstrated that the group scoring in the upper 30% on the scales of Psychological Well-being (PWB, Ryff and Keyes, 1995) and the Grief Reaction Inventory (GRI: Remondet and Hansson, 1987) showed a significantly higher degree of post-bereavement growth (PBG) than the group scoring in the lower 30%. Fourth, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ values for the five factors were between .649-.856 and .907 overall, indicating high internal consistency. Finally, education had the most significant influence on PBG. All results indicated the high validity of the PBGI. The findings from this study could provide the rationale for practical interventions from a growth-oriented perspective for widowed persons, as well as an objective assessment tool for practitioners in clinical areas.

At present, universities in Korea are trying to raise the competency of university students by preparing them with abilities and attitudes required in society, and many universities are carrying out "core competency based education." Therefore, there is a need to evaluate the core competencies of students and verify educational performance. M University, which trains students in specialized marine topics, also conducts core competency based education, reflecting the specificity of the university. The purpose of this study was to develop and validate a tool to measure the core competencies of M University students. First, preliminary questions were developed based on a literature review. Second, item analysis and exploratory factor analysis were conducted. As a result, six factors were identified. Finally, a total of 50 items were extracted from the final test, and validity was confirmed. The scale developed on the basis of this study can not only diagnose the core competency of students overall but also connect programs by diagnosing individual core competencies. It will be possible to use these results as basic data for honing the differentiated talents of universities specialized in maritime and ocean-related topics.

This is a preliminary study for the real-time feedback vibration control of building structures. The study developed a wireless acceleration sensor system based on authentic technology capacities, to integrate with the Prototype AMD system and ultimately construct the feedback vibration control system. These systems were used to evaluate the basic performance levels of the control systems within model building structures. For this purpose, the study first developed a wireless acceleration sensor unit that integrates an MEMS sensor device and bluetooth communication module. Also, the study developed an operating program that enables control output based on real-time acceleration response measurement and control law. Furthermore, the Prototype AMD and motor driver system were constructed to be maneuvered by the AC servo-motor. Eventually, all these compositions were used to evaluate the real-time feedback vibration control system of a 2-story model building, and qualitatively measure the extent of vibrational reduction of the target structure within the laboratory validation tests. As a result of the tests, there was a definite vibrational reduction effect within the laboratory validation tests. As a result of the tests, there was a definite vibrational reduction effect within 1st and 2nd resonance frequency as well as the random frequency of the model building structure. Ultimately, this study confirmed the potential of its wireless acceleration sensor system and AMD system as an effective tool that can be applied to the active vibration control of other structures.
Despite the fact that the dissolution test can serve as an effective tool for drug quality control and prediction of in vivo drug performance, there are a number of drugs with no established dissolution specifications because they were developed quite a long time ago. Under this circumstances, KFDA started the new project that establishes dissolution method and specifications for drugs with no dissolution specifications listed in the Korea Pharmaceutical Codex (KPC). This project aims for promoting the appropriate management of oral solid dosage forms. Seoul regional KFDA selected 2 items, Nicametate citrate tablet and Norfloxacin capsule, for establishing dissolution specifications. We went through the following procedures to develop the dissolution method and specifications: (1) Validation of dissolution test equipment, (2) Purchase of test drugs, (3) Preliminary test with one of the test products (1 lot), (4) Validation of analysis methods (3 lots), (5) Final tests and cross tests among other laboratory to establish dissolution specifications, (6) Additional test with the other test drugs. The outcome of this study will be reflected in revision of the KPC. It is believed that the quality control and evaluation of oral solid dosage forms listed in KPC will be advanced with the revision which adds additional dissolution test and specifications for the drugs with no established dissolution specifications.
Objective: The purpose of the present study is to develop a teacher efficacy scale of early childhood teachers and explore the validity and reliability of it. Methods: As the first step of this research, 17 teacher efficacy factors were extracted from previous studies on related areas and a survey from directors, teachers, and professors. The preliminary 83 items applicable to the chosen factors were developed and revised through content validity test from seven early childhood professionals, pilot test, item correction, main survey, and exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. Four hundred seventy one teachers working in a kindergarten or day care center participated in this study. Results: The teacher efficacy scale for early childhood teachers was finalized with 3 factors and 23 items. The teacher efficacy scale was composed of 16 items in teaching competence, 4 items in interpersonal relationship, and 3 items in a sense of calling. Conclusion/Implications: In this study, the valid and reliable teacher efficacy scale was developed. This scale might be a useful tool to develop the further studies in the topics of teacher efficacy and teacher education by analyzing the relationship between efficacy of early childhood teachers and other variables.
This study was conducted to develop and validate the social media anxiety and anger scale(SAACS), which measures emotions, especially anxiety and anger that can be contagioned to individuals, through posts and comments on social conflicts in social media. A literature search was conducted on social conflicts in social media, 12 factors(anxiety and anger about gender, crime, generation, wealth gap, politics, region) were selected. Then questions were developed after looking into previous literature and reviewing community posts and comments, and 105 preliminary questions were selected. Following the results of exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis for people aged 20 to 39 age group, SAACS was revised to 12 factors(anxiety and anger about gender, crime, generation, wealth gap, politics, and region) and 48 questions. When verifying the validity, the SAACS had a significant level of correlation with the SNS addiction tendency scale, Rosenberg self-esteem scale, Korean aggression questionnaire(K-AQ), and the state-trait anxiety inventory(STAI-X). SAACS showed no significant correlation with Korean emotional contagion scale(K-ECS). Finally, based on the results, the implications of this study and suggestions for future studies were discussed.
