In this paper, we present thermal dependancy of LED package element by changing temperature of MCPCB for design high efficiency LED lamp, and confirmed influence of LED chip against temperature with analysis of thermal resistance and thermal capacitance. As increasing temperature, WPOs were decreased from 25 to 22.5 [%] and optical power were also decreased. that is decreased reason of optical power that forward voltage was declined by decrease of energy bandgap. Therefore optical power by temperature of MCPCB should consider to design lamp for street light and security light. Moreover, compensation from declined optical efficiency is demanded when LED package is composed. Also, thermal resistances from chip to metal PCB were decreased from 12.18 to 10.8[$^{\circ}C/W$] by changing temperature. Among the thermal resistances, the thermal resistance form chip to die attachment was decreased from 2.87 to 2.5[$^{\circ}C/W$] and was decreased 0.72[$^{\circ}C/W$] in Heat Slug by chaning temperature. Therefore, because of thermal resistance gap in chip and heat slug, reliability and endurance of high power LED affect by increasing non-radiative recombination in chip from heat.
The high-power LED (Light Emitting Diode) which is recently gaining popularity as a digital light source has such advantages as low power consumption, long life, fast switching speed, and high efficiency. Thus, many efforts are being made to use the high-power LEDs for general lighting. This paper proposes LED driving circuit uses a DC/DC converter that can recover energy to compensate for the current variations caused by changes in LED equivalent resistance following a temperature change instead of serial resistance. The maximum input voltage of this DC/DC converter has low voltage variations by temperature change when the rated current is formed. In order to return current to the input side, we need a high boosting at low power. Thus, to improve the low efficiency of power converter, the power converter can be configured in such a way to gather the powers of low-capacity DC/DC converters and return the total power. Experiments showed that the proposed system improved efficiency compared to the conventional LED drive using the existing DC/DC converter.
We introduce an indoor broadcasting system using light-emitting diode (LED) lamps coupled with a 220 V power line. Two couplers connected to the power line constitute a power line communication (PLC) link. The transmission path from an LED lamp to a photodetector forms a visible light communication (VLC) link in free space. When the LED lamp is coupled to the power line, a composite PLC-VLC link is formed, making it possible to transmit a VLC signal beyond line-of-sight. In experiments, a 4 kHz analog signal modulated with a 100 kHz carrier was sent to the power line by a PLC coupler, and LED lamps coupled to the power line detected the signal and radiated it to multiple VLC receivers in the room. This configuration is useful in expanding an indoor VLC sensor network to adjacent rooms or constructing a voice broadcasting system in a building or apartments with existing power lines.
This paper shows significant methods that improve the lifespan of LED modules as well as efficiently using an aluminum heat-sink for LED module in high power. It proposes a method that raises stability and lifespan to protect LED modules and the power unit when the LED module has been used for a long hours at high temperatures. During the research, we applied a method of pulse-width modulation (PWM) in order to prevent the phenomenon that the entire power of a system is turned off and the lifespan is reduced when the LED nodule reacts to the high temperatures. To protect the LED module and SMPS based on high efficiency, a temperature sensor is attached underneath the circuit board and the sensor measures the temperature of circuit board when the LED module is powered on. The electrical power connected to SMPS is controlled by PWM when the temperature of the LED module reaches a particular temperature.
A new single-stage flyback power converter with PFC for electrolytic capacitor-less LED driver is proposed in this study. This method minimizes the peak-to-average ratio of the LED driving pulsating current by adding the LED driving current near the LED current valley area, as well as the third harmonic component injection into the input current. The reduced peak current value of the LED drive current minimizes the thermal stress of the LED itself, thereby increasing the reliability of the LED, as well as achieving a long lifetime. Simulation and experimental results show the usefulness of the proposed topology.
According to recent technological developments in high-power LEDs, the stage lighting is one of most important areas to apply power LED system. Moving light for color rendering of stage uses the RGBW(red, green, blue, white) color mixing method. LED moving light system needs to have a wide range of dimming control as enough to operate at very low power. Also LED dimming system should not be induced color-shift and flicker in camera. This paper is experimentally verified the LED Moving Light driving circuit of 200Watt level designed to satisfy the above characteristics which applied the DC current-controlled and PWM mixed dimming method.
