  • Obsolescent control systems for power systems are evolving into intelligent systems and connecting with smart devices to give intelligence to the power systems. As networks of the control system are growing, vulnerability is also increasing. The communication network of distribution areas in the power system connects closely to vulnerable environments. Many cyber-attacks have been founded in the power system, and they could be more critical as the power system becomes more intelligent. From these environment, new communication network architecture and mitigation method against cyber-attacks are needed. Availability and Fault Tree analysis used to show that the proposed system enhances performance of current control systems.

  • Power flow analysis(PFA) methods have shown many advantages in noise predictions and vibration analysis in medium-to-high frequency ranges. Applying the finite element technique to PFA has produced power flow finite element method(PFFEM) that can be effectively used for analysis of vibration of complicated structures. PFADS(power flow analysis design system) based on PFFEM as the vibration analysis program has been developed for vibration predictions and analysis of coupled structural systems. In this paper, to improve the function of vibro-acoustic coupled analysis in PFADS, the PFFEM has been extended for analysis of the interior noise problems in the vibro-acoustic fully coupled systems. The vibro-acoustic fully coupled PFFEM formulation based on energy coupled relations is extended to structural system model by using appropriate modifications to structural-structural, structural-acoustic and acoustic-acoustic joint matrices. It has been applied to prediction of the interior noise in two room model coupled with panels, and the PFFEM results are compared to those of statistical energy analysis(SEA).

  • This paper presents numerical analysis and design of high power contactless transformer with a large air-gap for moving on a guided linear track which is appropriate for high-speed train or MAGLEV. The system has the typical characteristics of large leakage inductance, small magnetizing inductance, and low coupling coefficients giving rise to lower power transfer efficiency, which have been compensated by the purposely-designed contactless transformer coupled with the resonant converter modulating with high switching frequency. In particular, the best model selected from the generated six design candidates has been applied for 3D Finite Element Analysis (FEA) investigating on iron loss to evaluate the overall system efficiency.

  • In this paper describe for development of conversion program by EMS data acquisition. Currently EMS output data has a arbitrary bus number and incorrect bus name. It is need to delvelop converting program for using this data to analysis real power system. Conversion consist of bus number and bus name convert, machine's MBASE, X''d, Machine ID, Area, Zone Code, adding tie-line and remove small genererator that was not consider in transient stability analysis. As result of this work, the efficiency of power system analysis is increase and the result input data is used for many analysis applications.

  • The bolier systems of coal fired power plants are large, non-linear systems with numerous interactions between its component parts. In the analysis of such complex systems, dynamic simulation is recognized as a powerful method of keeping track of the myriad of interactions. The boiler system consists of air/gas system and water/steam system. Due to recent reinforcement of environmental regulation on pollutant discharge and requirements of design validation on properites of boiler, the commercial programs are used for the analysis of boiler system. This paper addressed to the development of model using MMS(Modular Modeling System) developed by EPRI(Electric Power Research Institute) as the simulation tool. The developed model using MMS is tested for the design and local data on boiler combustion system of korea standard coal fired power plant boiler. The simulation results show that the developed model well reproduces responses of the combustion system with less than ${\pm}$5% error under steady state and transient state conditions. The developed model for analysis of the combustion system in this paper is general and applicable to any type of coal fired power plant.

  • This paper deals with operational characteristic analysis of a single-phase PCS (Power Conditioning System) for PV (Photovoltaic) power generation system with AF (Active Filter) function. The theory of dq transformation has been applied to the control strategy of a single-phase PV power generation system to implement the AF function. Application of the virtual two-phase using phase-shift makes it possible to use the dq theory for the single-phase PV power generation system. The authors are sure that the proposed system is a very useful to compensate harmonics caused by nonlinear loads in a single-phase utility system. In this paper, not only a theoretical aspect of the single-phase PV-AF system is discussed, but also the DSP (Digital Signal Processor) based experiment results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the single-phase PV-AF system.

  • To ensure a DC current path and avoid large voltage overshoot of the DC-link inductor, alternating PWM pulses in the current-source rectifier should be supplemented by overlap time, which generates an overlap current and causes input current distortion. In this study, the influence of overlap time is illustrated by comparing the AC-side current before and after overlap time is added. The overlap current distribution caused by overlap time is discussed under different modulation carriers, including triangle carrier, positive-going carrier, and negative-going carrier. The quantitative relationship between the extra harmonics of the AC-side current and overlap time is based on the Fourier analysis. Based on the commutation analysis, a new carrier modulation scheme that can restrain overlap current is proposed. A 3 kW prototype is established to verify the effectiveness of the influence of overlap time and the proposed restraining modulation scheme.

  • In this paper, the performance analysis for evaporation capacity, total work and efficiency of the ocean thermal energy conversion(OTEC) power system using mixed refrigerant(R32,R152a) is conducted to find the effect of hot wasted water on OTEC power system. The system in this study is applied with two stage turbine, regenerator, cooler and separator on Organic Rankine Cycle. The commercial program HYSYS is used for the performance analysis. The main results were summarized as follows : The efficiency of the OTEC power cycle has a largely effect on the evaporation capacity and total work. As increasing temperature of heat source water, evaporator's capacity is decreased but total work increase. Otherwise, using hot wasted water bring effects not only increasing system efficiency but also declining evaporator's capacity. Thus With a thorough grasp of these effect, it is necessary to find way to use hot wasted water emitted by power plant and so on.

  • This paper deals with the characteristic analysis of the integrated power system applied for the electric propulsion ships. This includes the electric power system modeling which is accomplished with the electric power network mainly composed of generators, switchboards, variable frequency devices, electric motors, and etc. In addition, performance comparison between the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) and the induction motor (IM) for 3.7MW ship propulsion has been done. In order to investigated the main performance of propulsion motor, a coupled model taking into account torque density, copper loss, iron loss, efficiency, power factor, and torque ripple using finite element analysis (FEA) has been employed.
