The Minimum PAPR Code for OFDM Systems

  • In this letter, a block code that minimizes the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals is proposed. It is shown that peak envelope power is invariant to cyclic shift and codeword inversion. The systematic encoding rule for the proposed code is composed of searching for a seed codeword, shifting the register elements, and determining codeword inversion. This eliminates the look-up table for one-to-one correspondence between the source and the coded data. Computer simulation confirms that OFDM systems with the proposed code always have the minimum PAPR.

  • We designed the compound CVT(Continuously Variable Transmissions) by combining power circulation mode and power split mode, which have been proposed for connecting 2K-H I differential gear to the V- belt type CVU(Continuously Variable Unit), as an input coupled type. With the designed compound CVT, we carried out theoretical analysis and performance experiments for efficiency, speed ratio, power flow, and power transmission ratio. We proved that the compound CVT had a better performance than either of the power circulation mode or power split mode.

예연소실(豫燃燒室)의 형상(形狀)이 농용(農用) 디이젤엔진의 성능(性能)에 미치는 영향(影響) (Effects of Form and Angle of Precombustion Chamber on Performance of Agricultural Diesel Engine)

  • This study was conducted to determine whether or not the form and angle of the precombustion chamber affected the performance of agricultural diesel engines. Twenty different types of precombustion chambers were designed and tested using a two way classification with four individual tests. The output power and specific fuel consumption ratio at full load were measured and analyzed. The results of the study were summarized as follows; 1. The diameter of main passageway giving the best power output and specific fuel consumption ratio at full load was between 5.8 and 6.1mm. The ratio of area of main passageway bore to that of piston head was from 0.4 to 0.44 percent at the highest engine power. 2. The angle of main passageway giving the best power output and specific fuel consumption ratio at full load was between 41 and 43 degrees. 3. The change of the diameter of main passageway affected the output of engine more significantly than the change of angle, however, on the specific fuel consumption ratio the angle of main passageway had more effect than the diameter.

  • The IGCC (Integrated gasification combined cycle) is known for one of the highest efficiency and the lowest emitting coal fueled power generating technologies. As the core technology of this system is the gasifier to make the efficiency and the continuous operation time increase, the research about different coal's gasification has been conducted. Our research group had set-up the coal gasifier for the pilot test to study the effect of different coals-Shenhua and Adaro coal- on gasification characteristics. Gasification conditions like temperature and pressure were controlled at a fixed condition and coal feed rate was also controlled 30 kg/h to retain the constant experimental condition. Through this study we found effects of coal composition and $O_2$/coal ratio on the cold gas efficiency, carbon conversion rate. The compounds of coal like carbon and ash make the performance of gasifier change. And carbon conversion rate was decreased with reduced $O_2$/coal ratio. The optical $O_2$/coal ratio is 0.8 for the highest cold gas efficiency approximately. At those operating conditions, the higher coal has the C/H ratio, the lower syn-gas has the $H_2$/CO ratio.

  • 본 논문에서는 cdma2000 규격을 채용한 역방향 링크 동기식 DS-CDMA 시스템을 시뮬레이션 하여 시스템의 성능을 분석하였고, 파일롯 채널과 정보 채널 즉, 기존의 트래픽 채널간의 최적 전력비를 구하였다. cdma2000 시스템은 기존의 IS-95와는 달리 파일롯 채널을 이용하여 페이딩 채널을 추정하고 이를 이용하여 채널 환경에 의한 수신신호의 위상변화를 보강해 준다. 채널 추정길이 31pcg 심볼에서 파일롯 채널과 트래픽 채널의 최적 전력비를 구하였다. 또한 시스템에 전력 제어를 적용하여 목표 FER을 만족시키기 위한 required Eb/No를 구하였고, 다중의 사용자가 고속의 데이터를 동시에 전송할 때의 성능을 분석하였다.

  • 본 논문은 OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) 시스템에서 PAPR (peak-to-average power ratio) 감소 기법으로 복잡도가 낮은 컴팬딩 (companding) 기법을 고려한다. 기존의 컴팬딩 함수는 시스템 요구 사항에 따라 설계하기 어렵고 비트오류율 성능 열화가 매우 큰 단점이 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 임의의 최대 PAPR 값을 제공하고 그에 따라 비트오류율 성능이 점진적으로 바뀌는 스케일러블 컴팬딩 함수를 제안한다. 제안하는 컴팬딩 함수는 시스템이 요구하는 PAPR 성능과 비트오류율 성능에 따라 쉽게 설계할 수 있으며, 모의실험 결과 같은 PAPR 조건에서 기존의 클리핑이나 $\mu$-low 기법보다 우수한 비트오류율 성능을 제공함을 볼 수 있다.

  • Effects of power ratio on the electrical and optical properties of Au based Ga-, B- codoped ZnO(GZOB) thin films were investigated. GZOB thin films on Au based PC flexible substrate were deposited at various power in the range from 50 to 125 W by DC magnetron sputtering. Au layer was fabricated to achieve good electrical conductivity. The presence of additional boron impurity leads to improve structural defects. Thus, the c-axis orientation along (002) plane was enhanced with the increasing of power ratio and the surface morphology of the films showed a homogeneous and nano-sized microstructure. GZOB films grown at 125W were investigated a low resistivity value of $1{\times}10^{-3}{\Omega}cm$ and a visible transmission of 80% with a thickness of 300nm.

Effect of the Signal-to-Noise Power Spectra Ratio On MTF compensated EOC images

  • EOC (Electro-Optical Camera) of KOMPSAT-1 (Korea Multi-Purpose SATellite) has been producing land imageries of the world since January 2000. After image data are acquired by EOC, they are transmitted from satellite to ground via X-band RF signal. Then, EOC image data are generated and pass through radiometric and geometric corrections to generate standard products of EOC images. After radiometric correction on EOC image data, Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) compensation is applicable on EOC images with user's request for better image quality. MTF compensation is concerned with filtering EOC images to minimize the effect of degradations. For Image Receiving and Processing System (IRPE) at KOMPSAT Ground Station (KGS), Wiener filter is used in MTF compensation for EOC images. If the Pointing Spread Function (PSF) of EOC system is known, signal-to-noise power spectra ratio is the only factor in the determination of Wiener filter. In this paper, MTF compensation in IRPE at KGS is introduced and MTF compensated EOC 1R images are generated using Wiener filters with various signal-to-noise power spectra ratios. MTF compensated EOC 1R images are correlated with EOC 1R images for observing linearities between them. As a result, the effect of signal-to-noise power spectra ratio is shown on MTF compensated EOC 1R images.

  • This paper deals with transformer turns ratio design with the consideration of loss minimization in isolated bidirectional DC-DC converter. Generally, the rms value of current, magnitude of current at switching instance, and duty ratio of a converter vary according to the turns ratio of an isolation transformer in the converter under the same voltages and output power level. Therefore, the transformer turns ratio has an effect on the total loss in a converter. The switching and conduction losses of IGBTs and MOSFETs consisting of dual-active bridge converter are analyzed, and iron and copper losses in an isolation transformer and inductor are calculated. Total losses are calculated and measured in cases of four different transformer turns ratios through simulation and experiment with 3-kW converter, and an optimum turns ratio that provides minimum losses is found. The usefulness of the proposed transformer turns ratio design approach is verified through simulation and experimental results.
