  • The purpose of this study was to make marketing strategies for Korean fashion companies that wish to enter into foreign markets. In-depth-interviews along with documentary research were performed on consumers who lived in Italy. The interviews were executed from May to December 2010. The results of research were as follows. The general image of Korea was at a high level. Therefore, the general and economical image of Korea had a significant impact on product evaluation. However, the Italian consumer had only a little understanding about the Korean fashion brand and product. This was so because the Korean fashion companies did not appear in the Italian fashion market. However, they were accustomed to using products of Samsung and LG. Therefore, the economical image of Korea is necessary to facilitate the official entrance of fashion companies in the Italian market as well as the global market.

  • As restructuring in power industry has introduced competitive markets, a new method on demand side management has been developed. Many programs using the method were developed with providing several choices for customer. Nowadays the programs are called demand response as the load management is done by customer's responding to the market price signal. It was proven that the method was effective for demand control with the active consumer's attending for the program. This paper analyses the perspective and the requirement for designing the demand response system.

  • Forecasting prices in electricity markets is critical for consumers and producers in planning their operations and managing their price risk. We utilize the generalized autoregressive conditionally heteroskedastic (GARCH) method to forecast the electricity prices in two regions of New York: New York City and Central New York State. We contrast the one-day forecasts of the GARCH against techniques such as dynamic regression, transfer function models, and exponential smoothing. We also examine the effect on our forecasting of omitting some of the extreme values in the electricity prices. We show that accounting for the extreme values and the heteroskedactic variance in the electricity price time-series can significantly improve the accuracy of the forecasting. Additionally, we document the higher volatility in New York City electricity prices. Differences in volatility between regions are important in the pricing of electricity options and for analyzing market performance.

  • In the aftermath of the financial crisis of 2008, while numerous members of the general public lost their homes and jobs, many of the largest banks held responsible for the crisis have been successfully rescued by bailouts. In this paper, through the analysis of income inequality, unemployment, tax cuts, and bailouts, we show that the interests of the general public are different from the interests of politicians and bankers. While the small elite group of politicians and bankers could set the deregulation policies with inordinate power based on full information, most people were ignorant and unconcerned about the policies, and hence did not oppose them. Specifically, we model the credit change in the financial markets of the United States by a finite state machine, and design three local supervisors representing three groups with different interests. It is then shown that the deregulation policies were adopted according to the difference of the supervisors' powers.

  • The Korean National Photovoltaic Project was initiated in October 1989 to develop technologies for the generation of economically competitive electric power by photovoltaic systems. It consists of four stages through the year 2006 with technical goals and cost targets related with solar cells, balance of systems and system application. The objectives of the project are to utilize photovoltaic technology, to transfer developed technology to industries and end users by research activities and to diffuse photovoltaic systems by demonstration projects. This paper reviews long-term plan abd status of technology R&D, and markets of photovoltaics. Some activities designed to promote collaboration with foreign countries are also introduced.

  • Transmission pricing is one of important issues related to competitive electricity markets since rational pricing scheme ensures a fair competition between this market participants. Transmission pricing scheme is classified briefly into marginal cost pricing and embedded cost pricing. In economic efficiency, marginal cost pricing is more adequate for competitive electricity market. However, this pricing scheme requires revenue reconciliation since it cannot ensure full recovery of Transco's revenue requirements. This paper presents a new revenue reconciliation to maximize social welfare. For this analysis, this paper provides the results applied by various revenue reconciliation methodologies.

  • The drug industry of China is faster than before, so it will rank 5$^{th}$ at world-wide markets in 2010. This is because of expansion of purchase power on increase in economic growth, extended human life expectancy. As it is entered the WTO in January 2002, it will positively affect on export of Korea for China. This paper focuses on the analysis of export increase caused by reduction of custom tariff in China. The time schedule on average reduction of custom tariff is 15% in 2000, 10% in 2005, 5% in 2010. As the empirical test, it presents 8.48% export increase rate for China of Korea on reduction of custom tariff.

  • In this study, we suggest a multi-generation Lotka-Volterra model, which is a competition model using game theory and complex system theory. The suggested model shows many improvements to weakness of a well known Bass model to forecast new technology in competitive markets. We show that the Lotka-Volterra model has strong power to forecast mobile communication services when it is used for competition of 1st generation mobile phone service and 2nd generation phone service in Korea. We finally use the model to forecast IMT-2000 service, the 3rd generation mobile communication service.

  • This paper is concerned with the deployment of core technologies for automotive steel sheets, based on the structural change of global market. The main tasks of automotive industry are to ensure the energy consumption, environmental regulations, and driving safety. With social and legal requirements, this study analyzes the market creation processes with technological innovations for hot rolled, cold rolled and galvanized steel sheets during the 20th century. It has been proven that the leading country in the steel industry was also that in the automotive. The purchaser-supplier relations of sheet materials are then patternized in the regional markets of the United States and Japan, who share nearly 50% of market in the world. According to the paradigm shift of globalization, the balance of power in Porter's 5 forces has been moved to the buyers', and both industries pursue Win-Win strategies such as the PNGV(Partnership for a New Generation of Vehicles ) and design-in system with the competition.

  • Industrial interest in switched reluctance motor (SRM) drives has varied since 1850s. This has been primarily due to the emerging markets for variable speed drives in consumer and industrial products, such as home appliances, air conditioning, hand tools, fans, pump motor, etc. However, SRM has been plagued with the acoustic noise and vibration problem by input power of fixed section. Therefore, This paper offers operating characteristics by dynamic simulation through the generalization of inductance profile and estimation of inductance according to current. the control methode are applied from DSP(digital signal processor) with voltage reference and position detection.
