Accurate Positioning with a Pneumatic Driving Apparatus (공기압 구동장치를 이용한 정밀위치제어)

  • The accurate position control of pneumatic driving apparatus is considered in this paper. In pneumatically actuated positioning systems, accurate positioning as an electrical servo has been known to be difficult because of the friction force and compressibility of the air. For good control performance of the pneumatic system, an actuator mounted with externally pressurized air bearings is produced to compensate for friction force. For the controller design, the governing equation of the pneumatic driving apparatus is derived. In order to reduce the nonlinear characteristics of the control valve, linearized control input is derived from the relation between the effective area of the valve and the control input. The experimental results are presented to show the results of the improved position control of the pneumatic driving apparatus.

  • In electrical machinery and apparatus, the most important problem is protect of machinery and apparatus in due to transient phenomena and overload on operation. Particularly by advanced technology of late, there Is demand for low cost of equipments and high percentage of use of equipments. Therefore, protection of machinery and apparatus In condition of overload is more valued considering that all efficiency increase is passed by operating all machinery and apparatus in condition of heavyload. In this paper, the suggested system is added overload interrupt system using CT in condition of overload.

  • To reduce the maintenance expence, and the possibility of electric outage and accident, accurate measurement should be carried. But the classical method has some problems in the aspect of man power, reliability, and expence. In this paper, we propose a new type apparatus, which could detect the degree of contamination on insulators on outdoor insulation system, such as transmission and distribution line insulator and bushing. The new type apparatus consists of Pelltier module, electrode system, and measuring part. At first leakage current detecting method was considered, then with the fault(oxidation of electrode) of that method we should propose a another method. We carried various test to prove the possiblity and reliability of the propoused apparatus. And we get some useful result with laboratory test.

  • Pneumatic system is widely applied in various industry because it have a many advantage(low cost, high safety, etc..). For design of pneumatic system, accurate flow measurement is required. In this study, compressible fluid flow measurement apparatus was designed and built. It uses an isothermal chamber that can approximate isothermal condition. Therefore, it can be measured for flow-rate using pressure response of isothermal chamber. As a result, this apparatus can be measured for sonic conductance and critical pressure ratio of pneumatic components and it required less time and energy than conventional flow meter. The effectiveness of the designed apparatus is proved by experimental result.

  • In this paper a preventative and diagnostic system for high and ultra high voltage electric power transmission apparatus is proposed to secure substation normal operation. The proposed system consists of monitoring sub-system and diagnostic sub-system, which are mainly for GIS and main transformer, and the system will be applied for newly established 765kV class substation in Korea. Some guideline for combination with substation control system are presented, and engineering solution as an improved substation automation system is also proposed.

  • Pneumatic driving systems have hard non-linear characteristic and large friction force compared with driving power. Hence, it cannot be robust against parameter uncertainties, modelling error, disturbance and noise. In this study, we apply a mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ control to the generalized plant for a pneumatic driving apparatus system including parameter uncertainty and disturbance. In order to design the $H_2/H_{\infty}$ controller, we use the LMI technique. To evaluate control performance and robust stability of the designed controller, we compare it with a conventional controller such as PVA(Position-Velocity-Acceleration state controller) using the simulation results. As a result, it can be known that designed controller shows better robust stability than the conventional controller.

  • This paper presents the temperature distribution of the oil-immersed self-cooled transformer with radiator performed by coupled magneto-fluid-thermal analysis. Particularly, 3D temperature distribution of cooling oil and sub-components under the natural convection is obtained by computational fluid dynamics analysis, while heat sources are predetermined by magnetic field analysis using F.E.M. The predicted temperature distribution of the power transformer model is compared with the measured data for verifying the validity of the proposed analysis.

  • A motor cylinder apparatus is used to transfer a load in industrial applications. The apparatus is composed of a motor and power transmission elements such as worm gear and screw. In this case, the nonlinear friction of the transmission elements has a bad influence on the position control performance. To overcome this problem, the position control system consists of a feedback controller to achieve nominal control performance and a disturbance observer to compensate nonlinear friction. Especially the filter of a disturbance observer is designed from viewpoint of robust stability. Finally, the simulation result shows that the proposed control system is effective for the disturbance elimination as well as the friction compensation.

  • This paper presents coupled analysis between finite element method and analytic technique for predicting temperature rise of 25.8kV 25kA three-phase GIS bus bar. The power losses and temperature distribution of three-phase GIS bus bar model are analyzed by magneto-thermal finite element method. The heat transfer coefficients on the boundaries are analytically calculated by applying Nusselt number considering material constant and model geometry for the natural convection. And these are used as the input data to predict the temperature rise of three-phase GIS bus bar model by coupled magneto-thermal F.E.A. The predicted temperature of 25.8kV 25kA three-phase GIS bus bar model shows good agreement with the experimental data.
