The photovoltaic generators have a nonlinear V-I characteristics and maximum power points which vary with the illumination levels and temperatures. Using maximum power point tracker with the intermediate converter can increase the system efficiency by matching the PV systems to the load. A novel MPPT control for photovoltaic system is proposed. The system input parameters are (dP, dI, and last incremental of duty ratio $L\deltaD$)and the output is the new incremental value (new ${\deltaD}$) according to the maximum power point under various illumination levels. Using fuzzy logic controller allows extracting the maximum power rapidly and without significant oscillations. Also FLC provides excellent features such as fast response, good performance and the ability to change the fuzzy parameters to improve control system.
The design of an $H{\infty}$ controller for a TCSC to enhance the damping of an inter-area oscillation in a Power system is presented. The paper describes a comprehensive and systematic way of applying the $H{\infty}$ control design algorithm in power systems. Eigen sensitivity analysis to selction a TCSC location is described. Time simulation and eigenvalue analysis show that the proposed TCSC $H{\infty}$ controller can suppress the inter-area oscillations efficiently with robustness.
This paper proposes new series and parallel Sin+Cos PSS(power system stabilizer) for the purpose to improve the existing PSS1A's performance. The purpose of PSS is used to enhance damping of power system oscillations through injection of auxiliary signal for an excitation control terminal. The Proposed series and Parallel Sin+Cos PSS is connected adding the Sin+Cos terms additionally with serial and with parallel connection in a conventional PSS1A. The proposed controller is aim to considering of a damping of oscillation when it changes parameter fluctuations or operational load variations in a power system. The object of electric power system is KEPCO system and the voltage of power transmission line is a 154kV and a 345kV. The PSCAD/EMTDC package is used to authorize the effect of the proposed controller. Simulations were shown by and compared with the waveforms for frequency, voltage and electric power.
A Voltage Instability Predictor(VIP) estimates the proximity of a power system to voltage collapse in real time. Voltage Instability Index(Z-index) from VIP algorithm is estimated using LS(Least Square) method. But this method has oscillations and noise of result due to the system's changing conditions. To suppress oscillations, a larger data window needs to be used. In this paper. I propose the new other method which improves that weakness. It uses RLS(Recursive Least Square) to estimate voltage instability index without a large moving data window so this method is suitable for on-line monitor and control in real time. In order to verify effectiveness of the algorithm using RLS method, the method is tested on HydroQuebec system in real time digital simulator(HYPERSIM).
The problem of small-signal stability is usually one of insufficient damping of system oscillations. The use of power system stabilizers to control generator excitation system os the most cost effective method of enhancing the small-signal stability of power system. This paper presents the fuzzy type stabilizing controller to damp out the sustained oscillation, which is observed in normal operation. through the comparative simulation with PI type power stabilizer under various system operating condition, the efficiency of fuzzy stabilizing controller with respect to nonlinear power system is verified.

Advances in low power design open the possibility to harvest energy from the environment to power electronic circuits. Electrical energy can be harvested from piezoelectric transducer. Piezoelectric materials can be used as mechanisms to transfer mechanical energy usually vibrating system into electrical energy that can be stored and used to power other devices. Micro- to milli-watts power can be generated from vibrating system. We developed definitive and analytical models to predict the power generated from a cantilever beam attached with piezoelectric transducer. Analytical models are pin-force method, enhanced pin-force method and Euler-Bernoulli method. Harmonic oscillations and random noise will be the two different forcing functions used to drive each system. It has been selected the best model for generating electric power based upon the analytical results obtained.

This paper describes modeling Voltage Sourced Inverter (VSI) type Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) controllers and control methods for power system dynamic stability studies. The considered FACTS controllers are the Static Compensator (STATCOM), the Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC), and the Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC). In this paper, these FACTS controllers are derived in the current injection model, and it is applied to the linear and nonlinear analysis algorithm for power system dynamics studies. The parameters of the FACTS controllers are set to damp the inter-area oscillations, and the supplementary damping controllers and its control schemes are proposed to increase damping abilities of the FACTS controllers. For these works, the linear analysis for each FACTS controller with or without damping controller is executed, and the dynamic characteristics of each FACTS controller are analyzed. The results are verified by the nonlinear analysis using the time-domain simulation.

Quantitative Feedback Theory(QFT) has been used to design a robust power system stabilizer(PSS) to improve transient and dynamic stabilities of a power system. This design technique is basically accomplished in frequency domain. The most important feature of QFT is that it is able to deal with the design problem of complicated uncertain plants. A basic idea in QFT design is the translation of closed-loop frequency-domain specifications into Nichols chart domains specifying the allowable range of the nominal open-loop response and then to design a controller by using the gain-phase loop shaping technique. This paper introduces a new algorithm to compute QFT bounds more efficiently. The propose QFT design method ensures a satisfactory performance of the PSS under a wide range of power system operating conditions.
Power System Stabilizer is designed to improve dynamic stability and umdamped power angle oscillations through the application of supplementary stabilizing of excitation control. The object of this paper is to describe the design considerations of microprocessor based Power System Stabilizer especially in hardware design.
The problem of reactivity oscillations for a point reactor constitutes an interesting aspect of nuclear reactor physics and its solution may give important information for dynamic and safety assessments. The present paper considers the problem of a reactivity oscillation for a source-driven system which involves some specific aspects that introduce significant differences with respect to the source-free situation. Assuming a square-wave shape for the reactivity insertion, the solution is derived by a fully analytical approach. The conditions for stability and instability can be identified in a straightforward way by directly studying the stationarity of the power response. Numerical results presented allow to discuss the role of the system kinetic parameters and of the time-shape of the reactivity wave.
