  • The module UPS can flexibly implement expansion of power system capacities. Further-more, it can be used to build up the parallel redundant system to improve the reliability of power system operation. To realize the module UPS, load sharing without interconnection among parallel connecting modules as well as a small scale and lightweight topology is necessary. In this paper, the three-arm converter/inverter is compared with the general full-bridge and half-bridge topology from a practical point of view and chosen as the module UPS topology. The switching control approaches based on a pulse width modulation of the converter and inverter of the system are presented independently. The frequency and voltage droop method is applied to parallel operation control to achieve load sharing. Two prototype 3㎸A modules are designed and implemented to confirm the effectiveness of the pro-posed approaches. Experimental results show that the three-arm UPS system has a high power factor, a low distortion of output voltage and input current, and good load sharing characteristics.

  • The unequal impedances of the interconnecting cables between paralleled inverters in the island mode of microgrids cause inaccurate reactive power sharing when the traditional droop control is used. Many studies in the literature adopt low speed communications between the inverters and the central control unit to overcome this problem. However, the losses of this communication link can be very detrimental to the performance of the controller. This paper proposes an improved reactive power-sharing control method. It employs infrequent measurements of the voltage at the point of common coupling (PCC) to estimate the output impedance between the inverters and the PCC and then readjust the voltage droop controller gains accordingly. The controller then reverts to being a traditional droop controller using the newly calculated gains. This increases the immunity of the controller against any losses in the communication links between the central control unit and the inverters. The capability of the proposed control method has been demonstrated by simulation and experimental results using a laboratory scale microgrid.

  • The subject of this research is what is the most effective strategy of the nuclear sharing strategy of South Korea through the nuclear strategy that the U.S. is pursuing now. The U.S. Nuclear Strategy-related change can be found in a Nuclear Posture Review (NPR) report released by the U.S. The first NPR was announced in 1994 and after that, the U.S. has additionally announced a total of four NPRs along with administration changes. The change in the U.S. nuclear strategy and nuclear power are considered both deterrence and offset strategies. It can be summarized in two ways. First, by maintaining overwhelming nuclear power against the enemy, the U.S. is to lead nuclear advantage that is the core of the U.S. nuclear strategy. Second, the U.S. is to limit the competition of nuclear power with nations seeking to challenge the U.S. nuclear power advantage. Additionally, the U.S. is to actively sign an agreement with nations on the reduction and restriction of nuclear weapons. Through the NPR of the U.S., South Korea should know its unclear power and strategy and have an effective nuclear strategy of South Korea. Therefore, this research is to deal with the suitability of the nuclear sharing strategy with the U.S., which is one of the various nuclear strategies of South Korea.

  • In this paper, a low-power structure for 512 tap FIR filter in MPEG audio algorithm is proposed. By using CSD(Canonic Signed Digit) form filter coefficients and maximum sharing of input signal sample, it is shown that the number of adders of proposed structure can be minimized. To minimize the number of adders, the proposed structure utilizes the 4 steps of sharing, i.e., common input sharing, linear phase symmetric filter coefficient sharing, block sharing for common input, and common sub-expression sharing. Through Verilog-HDL coding, it is shown that reduction rates in the implementation area and relative power consumption of the proposed structure are 60.3% and 93.9% respectively, comparison to those of the conventional multiplier structure.

  • Parallel distributed generators (DGs) in the islanded micro-grid are normally controlled with the aid of the droop control scheme. However, the traditional droop control methods which use the P-${\omega}$ and Q-E curve to share power between DGs are still concerned to improve the accurate of reactive power sharing and variation of frequency and voltage at the point of common coupling (PCC). This paper proposes a control scheme to solve the limitation of microgrid in islanded operation such as reactive power sharing accuracy and PCC voltage and frequency restoring. In order to achieve the control objective, a secondary control is implemented with both central controller and local controller by using the low bandwidth communications. The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme is analyzed through the simulation.

  • This paper describes a low power ROM using single charge-sharing capacitor and hierarchical bit line (SCSC-ROM). The SCSC-ROM reduces the power consumption in bit lines. It lowers the swing voltage of bit lines to a very small voltage by using a charge-sharing technique with a single capacitor. It implements the capacitor with dummy bit lines to improve noise immunity and make easy to design. The hierarchical bit line further saves the power by reducing the capacitance in bit lines. The SCSC-ROM also reduces the power consumption in control unit and predecoder by using the hierarchical word line decoder. The simulation result shows that the SCSC-ROM with $4K{\times}32bits$consumes only 37% power of a conventional ROM. A SCSC-ROM chip is fabricated in a $0.25{\mu}m$ CMOS process. It consumes 8.2mW at 240MHz with 2.5V.

  • In this paper, we proposes a new load-sharing algorithm with a ATmega2560 based digital communication. Proposed algorithm is different from conventional analog method. The high speed communication digital control is performed. To apply the digital communication and real-time control for time-sharing token bus method, we implemented high efficient load-sharing and redundancy. Also this system make down the price by auto ID algorithm and system response is improved by controller's voltage and current integral value sharing. In parallel system prototype, each module have controller and performed load-sharing according to master module integral value. In this paper, we verify the validity of proposed algorithm using PSIM program and prototype.

  • The avionic battery discharge regulator (BDR) plays an important role in a power-conditioning unit. With its merits of high efficiency, stable transfer function, and continuous input and output currents, the non-isolated Weinberg converter (NIWC) is suitable for avionic BDR. An improved peak current control strategy is proposed to achieve high current-sharing accuracy. Current and voltage regulators are designed based on a small signal model of a three-module NIWC system. The system with the designed regulators operates stably under any condition and achieves excellent transient response and current-sharing accuracy.

  • This paper presents an improved droop method of the high voltage DC power supply which minimizes the voltage droop of a parallel-connected power supply. Conventionally, the droop method has been used to achieve a simple structure and no-interconnections among the power sources. However, it has a trade-off between output voltage regulation and load sharing accuracy. In this paper, the droop is minimized with a current and droop gain control using steady-stage estimation. The proposed method can achieve both high performance voltage regulation and load sharing. Two 10kV, 100mA parallel power modules were made and tested to verify the proposed current-sharing method.

  • This paper proposes an enhanced distributed generation (DG) unit with an adaptive virtual impedance control approach in order to address the inaccurate reactive power sharing problem. The proposed method can adaptively regulate the DG virtual impedance, and the effect of the mismatch in feeder impedances is compensated to share the reactive power accurately. The proposed control strategy is fully distributed and the need for the microgrid central controller is eliminated. Furthermore, the proposed method can be directly implemented without requirement of pre-knowledge of the feeder impedances. Simulations are performed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed control approach.
