  • In this paper we describe the design of a Dual Power Controller(DPC) for Power Control System(PCS) in Nuclear Power Plant. The PCS also provides information regarding rod motion, rod position, and status of the Rod Control System. It has Hot/Stand-by type, and also has the function of fault detection for controller itself and power modules. We have implemented the various functions with the dual Power Controller. Due to the developed DPC, we are assured that the commmecial use by this controller be made before long.

  • 신재생에너지 비중 증가에 따른 전력계통 불안정성과 탈원전, 노후 석탄화력 폐쇄로 인한 안정적인 발전자원 감소에 대한 대응 방안으로 터빈제어밸브 4개중 2~3개를 교축하여 발전기 출력 증·감발과 주파수를 추종하는 복합 변압 운전 방식을 터빈제어밸브를 전개하여 교축손실을 줄임으로서 발전 효율을 극대화하는 순 변압운전 방식으로 대체하고, 계통 주파수 변동에 신속하게 대응하기 위해 ESS를 연계하여 주파수 추종 및 자동발전운전을 하는 제어로직을 500MW 석탄화력인 태안 5호기를 대상으로 개발하였다. ESS 운전(신속한 응답, 용량 한계)과 발전소 터빈제어밸브 교축 운전(느린 응답, 지속적인 운전)의 장·단점을 보완하는 협조제어 알고리즘이 실제 발전소에 적용시 발전 효율 향상은 물론 전력 수요에 신속하고 유연하여 대응하여 계통 안정성에 기여할 것으로 확신한다.

시화호 조력발전소 신설에 따른 전력계통 특성 및 경제적 이득 분석 (A Study on Power System Characteristics and Economic Benefit by Operating the New SIHWA Tidal Power Plant)

  • This paper presents the various analysis of the power system for operating the new SIHWA tidal power plant. In the analysis of the power system, summer load condition of 2011 is used. Especially, power flow, fault current, voltage and contingency of SIHWA tidal power plant area are analyzed by using PSS/E and there is no problem for the dynamic stability simulation. The new SIHWA tidal power plant is located in near metropolitan area where about 43% amount of the system load is consumed. Therefore, transmission losses are reduced. In addition, system marginal price can be lowered by generating the new SIHWA tidal power plant. The generation pattern of the SIHWA tidal plant is analyzed and the changes of generation are presented for various water levels by control of the rotor angle alpha and beta in water wheel generator.

  • Using a surplus head in presented water supply pipes, we have studied to improve the operating efficiency of small hydro generator, which was chosen for a test model with 00 hydro power plant. With regard to power control and countermeasure of water hammer impact, Finally we have represented the optimal control method through the synthetical analysis of existing system symptoms, operation efficiency, the effect of water hammer impact and system configuration.

  • In this paper we obtain a discrete mathmatical model of a Boiler control system from expermental data, we find appropriate input signal and parameter estimation algorithm for identification of the Boiler control system in power plant. Under these conditions experimental data are collected from real system and parameters are estimated by the Recursive Least Square algorithm. The computer simulation results show the parameter estimation algorithm for identification and the effectiveness of controller design of the Boiler control system.

  • The Loss of a Main Feedwater Pump test at 100% Power for YGN 4 was simulated in order to verify and validate the KSNPA. The comparison of the test data with the KSNPA prediction results showed reasonable agreement in the trends of the major plant parameters. All plant control systems including NSSS and T/G control systems are properly actuated and stabilized the plant conditions to a new steady state conditions in the KSNPA. From the comparison results, the KSNPA showed its capability to simulate the LOMFP event for the Korean Standard Nuclear Power Plant.

  • A fuzzy control algorithm of bell-type membership functions and 9 rules is constructed for narrow range level control of steam generators in nuclear power plants. It is implemented at a field digital distributed controller, a Westinghouse-made controller called Westinghouse Distributed Processing Family(WDPF). Performance for level control of the developed fuzzy controller is compared with that of conventional controller, both at the field controller. For these comparisons, both the fuzzy control algorithm and the conventional PI control algorithm were carefully tuned. Also the sampling time for optimal performance was investigated. The results show that the fuzzy control algorithm is not only better in performance than the conventional algorithm but also much easier to be tuned by operators in the field.

  • Used analog control systems have been converted into digital control systems due to performance degradation and difficulty of maintenance. There are few domestic DCS (Distribued Control System)s that have been applied to Bower plant. To apply a demestic DCS to power plant, the reliability, redundacny, and fault tolerance of DCS is important. Besides those items, the control action of control function block is also important. In this paper, we describe the requirements that PID control function block has to have, and implement a PID control function block that satisfies those requirements. Finally. simulation result using digital simulator for boiler system in thermal power plant shows the validity of a implemented PID control function block.

  • This paper presents the application of a FARMA controller to stabilization of nonlinear Two-Generator Five-Bus power Systems. The control rules and the membership functions of the FARMA controller are generated automatically without using any plant model high complexity and severe nonlinearity of power systems are introduced and two-Machine Five -Bus Power system stabilization problem is formulated. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness and application possibility of the FARMA controller to the control problem of high order and nonlinear plants.
