In this paper, we consider the case where D2D users and the cellular user share the uplink of the cellular system. We propose an iterative power control algorithm that converges to the optimum power value. Each user iteratively updates its transmit power level according to the interference function. Finally, all D2D users and cellular user that participate in the transmission get the optimum transmit power level. We first investigate the interference structure and define the interference function. Then, we show that the considered interference function belongs to the standard interference function that converges the unique transmit power level. Through numerical examples, the convergence of the proposed power control algorithm is examined in the various transmission scenarios.

Power continues to be a driving force in central processing units (CPU) design. Most of the advanced breakthroughs in power have been in a realm that is applicable to workstation CPUs. Advanced power management systems will manage temperature, dynamic voltage scaling and dynamic frequency scaling in a CPU. The use of power management systems for microcontrollers and embedded CPUs has been modest, and mostly focuses on very large scale integration (VLSI) level optimizations compared to system level optimizations. In this paper, a dynamic frequency controlling (DFC) technique is introduced, to lay the foundation of a system level power management system for commercial microcontrollers. The DFC technique allows a commercial microcontroller to have minor modifications on both the hardware and software side, to allow the clock frequency to change to save power; results in this study show a 10% savings. By adding an additional layer of software abstraction at the interrupt level, the microcontroller can operate without having knowledge of the current clock frequency, and this can be accomplished without having to use an embedded operating system.
This paper proposes a simplified and efficient control scheme for Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC) based on three-level (NPC) inverter capable to mitigate source current harmonics and compensate all voltage disturbances perturbations such us, voltage sags, swells, unbalances and harmonics. The UPQC is designed by the integration of series and shunt active filters (AFs) sharing a common dc bus capacitor. The dc voltage is maintained constant using proportional integral voltage controller. The shunt and series AF are designed using a three-phase three-level (NPC) inverter. The synchronous reference frame (SRF) theory is used to get the reference signals for shunt and the power reactive theory (PQ) for a series APFs. The reference signals for the shunt and series APF are derived from the control algorithm and sensed signals are injected in tow controllers to generate switching signals for series and shunt APFs. The performance of proposed UPQC system is evaluated in terms of power factor correction and mitigation of voltage, current harmonics and all voltage disturbances compensation in three-phase, three-wire power system using MATLAB-Simulink software and SimPowerSystem Toolbox. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed UPQC system can improve the power quality at the common connection point of the non-linear load.
The photovoltaic (PV) power conditioning system for small-scale applications has gained significant interest in the past few decades. However, the standalone mode of operation has been rarely approached. This paper presents a two-stage multi-level micro-inverter topology that considers the different operation modes. A multi-output flyback converter provides both the DC-Link voltage balancing for the multi-level inverter side and maximum power point tracking control in grid connection mode in the PV stage. A modified H-bridge multi-level inverter topology is included for the AC output stage. The multi-level inverter lowers the total harmonic distortion and overall ratings of the power semiconductor switches. The proposed micro-inverter topology can help to decrease the size and cost of the PV system. Transient analysis and controller design of this micro-inverter have been proposed for stand-alone and grid-connected modes. Finally, the system performance was verified using a 120 W hardware prototype.
As the economy has grown and the main industry in Korea has been changed from secondary industry to tertiary industry, the importance of indoor environment has been a matter of common concern, in which one of the main concerns is to improve the indoor acoustic conditions. However, even though this is required more than before, there are no measures to protect the human being from the noise of electric home appliances. This is owing to the absence of the data about sound power level of electric home appliances. So, we investigate the sound power level of them and analyze the acoustical characteristics of each one. First, we tried to investigate the sound power measurement method of each electric home appliance. After it we test the sound power level of them. From the survey, we can know that the vacuum cleaner is the most noisy electric home appliance, and the refrigerator is the least noisy one. The noise of a range hood is distributed over a wide range frequency. Lastly, we intented to propose the proper method measuring sound power level on each electric home appliance.
A linear compressor generates pulsating pressure and oscillating flow in a cryocooler such as Stirling cryocooler and pulse tube refrigerator. It is driven by AC power source and designed to operate at resonance of piston motion. The driving voltage level is determined by electric parameters of resistance, inductance and thrust constant of linear motor. From voltage equation on linear motor, the power factor of driving power is inherently less than 1. The phase difference between voltage and current of supplied power can be zero using capacitor and this can minimize a supply voltage level. Especially, the linear compressor of kW class requires high voltage and thus can cause a difficulty in selecting power supply unit due to limitation of voltage level. The capacitor in driving electric circuit is useful to settle this problem. In this study, the electric circuit of linear compressor is analytically investigated with assumption of mechanical resonance. The electric parameters of commercial linear motor are used in the analysis. The effects of capacitor on driving voltage level and power factor are investigated. From analytic results, it is shown that the voltage level can be mimized with using capacitor in driving electric circuit.
A single-ended primary-inductor converter (SEPIC) features low input current ripple and output voltage up/down capability. However, the switching devices in a two-level SEPIC suffer from high voltage stresses and switching losses. To cope with this drawback, this study proposes a three-level SEPIC that uses a low voltage-rated switch and thus achieves better switching performance compared with the two-level SEPIC. The three-level SEPIC can reduce switch voltage stresses and switching losses. The converter operation and control method are described in this work. The experimental results for a 500 W prototype converter are also discussed. Experimental results show that unlike the two-level SEPIC, the three-level SEPIC achieves improved power efficiency with balanced capacitor voltages.
The objective of this paper is to present the design of a Neural Network(NH) based optimal pulse-width modulation(PWM) techniques for a three-level power inverter. Considering the importance of safety, power factor and harmonics of power inverters, two-level type and three-level type of power inverters using NNs are precisely investigated and compared in computer simulation.
This paper present the design of a novel neural-network (NN) based pulse-width modulation (PWM) techniques for a three-level power converter of electric trains along with nonlinear mapping of essential switching patterns and fault tolerance, which are inherent characteristics of NNs. Considering the importance of safety, power factor and harmonics of electric train power converters, two-level type and three-level type of power converters using NNs are precisely investigated and compared in computer simulation. A computer simulation shows that a new current control scheme provides an improved performance over a fixed-band hysteresis current control in many aspects.
The objective of this paper is to study if the EEG spectral relative power would be a reasonable measure of expertise level. EEG electrodes were placed on the locations of Fp1, Fp2, F3, F4, T3, T4, O1, O2 while 5 subjects were playing 4 kinds of game on PC. EEG spectral relative power was significantly related with expertise level on the locations of Fp1, T3, T4, O1, O2. And the results showed that the $\theta$ and $\alpha$ activities were decreased, while $\beta$ and $\gamma$ activities were increased. The results indicated that the EEG spectral relative power would be applicable as a quantitative measure of expertise level.
