Single-Stage High Power Factor Converter for $90-260V_{rms}$ Input ($90-260V_{rms}$ 입력범위를 갖는 단일전력단 고역률 컨버터)

  • A new single stage power factor corrected AC/DC converter has been proposed, that is unified with buck topology and suitable for universal input. The design example of the proposed converter lot 5V 12A application has been presented. The design considerations and simulation results for the proposed converter have been shown. The simulation results show that the line input current harmonics can meet IEC 1000-3-2 Class D requirements for the line input voltage from 90 to 260V.

  • 본 논문은 새로운 역률보상회로를 적용한 플러그인 하이브리드 전기 자동차 탑재형 완속 충전기(On-Board Charger, OBC)를 제안한다. 제안하는 완속 충전기용 역률보상회로 (Power Factor Correction, PFC)는 기존의 부스트 컨버터를 기본으로 하는 역률보상회로와 동일한 개수의 회로 부품과 입 출력전압 관계를 가진다. 회로 구조상 전파 정류된 DC 전압을 저장하는 입력 커패시터와 입력 인덕터의 에너지가 저장되는 출력 커패시터가 직렬 결합되어 DC-link 전압을 형성하므로 출력 커패시터의 동작전압(Working voltage)을 낮출 수 있어 단가절감이 가능하다. 제안된 역률보상 회로를 적용한 플러그인 하이브리드 전기 자동차 탑재형 완속 충전기에 대한 동작 특성을 해석하고 시뮬레이션을 통해 타당성을 검증한다.

An Effective Control Scheme for Battery Charger System in Electric Vehicles

  • This paper presents an effective control scheme for an electric vehicle battery charger where a symmetrical bridgeless power factor-corrected converter and a buck converter are cascaded. Both converters have been popular in industries because of their high efficiency, low cost, and compact size, hence combining these converters makes the overall battery charging system strongly efficient. Moreover, this charger topology can operate at universal input voltage and attain a desired battery current and voltage without ripple. In order to achieve a unity input power factor and zero input current harmonic distortion, the proposed control scheme adopts duty ratio feed-forward control technique in both current and voltage control loop. Additionally, in the current loop, its reference is created by a phase-locked loop (PLL) block, leading to a pure sinusoidal input current although the input voltage waveform is being distorted. The feasibility and practical value of the proposed approach are verified by simulation and experiment with an 110V/60Hz ac line input and 1.5kW-72V dc output of the battery charging system.

Improved nodal equivalence with leakage-corrected cross sections and discontinuity factors for PWR depletion analysis

  • This paper introduces a new two-step procedure for PWR depletion analyses. This procedure adopts the albedo-corrected parameterized equivalence constants (APEC) method to correct the lattice-based raw cross sections (XSs) and discontinuity factors (DFs) by accounting for neutron leakage. The intrinsic limitations of the conventional two-step methods are discussed by analyzing a 2-dimensional SMR with the commercial DeCART2D/MASTER code system. For a full-scope development of the APEC correction, the MASTER nodal code was modified so that the group constants can be corrected in the middle of a microscopic core depletion. The basic APEC methodology is described and color-set problems are defined to determine the APEC functions for burnup-dependent XS and DF corrections. Then the new two-step method was applied to depletion analyses of the SMR without thermal feedback, and its validity was evaluated in terms of being able to predict accurately the reactor eigenvalue and nodal power profile. In addition, four variants of the original SMR core were also analyzed for a further evaluation of the APEC-assisted depletion. In this work, several combinations of the burnup-dependent and -independent XS and DF corrections were also considered. The results show that the APEC method could enhance the nodal equivalence significantly with inexpensive additional costs.

  • This paper presents a novel power factor corrected(PFC) single-stage AC/DC half-bridge converter, which features discontinuous conduction mode(DCM) and soft-switching. The reduced conduction losses are achieved by the employment of a novel powder factor correction circuitry, instead of the conventional configuration composed of a front-end rectifier followed by a boost converter. To identify the validity of the proposed converter, simulated results of 500[W] converter with 100[V] input voltage and 50[V]output voltage are presented.

On the equivalence of reaction rate in energy collapsing of fast reactor code SARAX

  • Scattering resonance of medium mass nuclides leads complex spectrum in the fast reactor, which requires thousands of energy groups in the spectrum calculation. When the broad-group cross sections are collapsed, reaction rate cannot be completely conserved. To eliminate the error from energy collapsing, the Super-homogenization method in energy collapsing (ESPH) was employed in the fast reactor code SARAX. An ESPH factor was derived based on the ESPH-corrected SN transport equation. By applying the factor in problems with reflective boundary condition, both the effective multiplication factor and reaction rate were conserved. The fixed-source iteration was used to ensure the stability of ESPH iteration. However, in the energy collapsing process of SARAX, the vacuum boundary condition was adopted, which was necessary for fast reactors with strong heterogeneity. To further reduce the error caused by leakage, an additional conservation factor was proposed to correct the neutron current in energy collapsing. To evaluate the performance of ESPH with conservation factor, numerical benchmarks of fast reactors were calculated. The results of broad-group calculation agreed well with the direct full-core Monte-Carlo calculation, including the effective multiplication factor, radial power distribution, total control rod worth and sodium void worth.

  • To improve the efficiency of PDP TV, it should minimize the power losses transpired during AC-to-DC power conversion and PDP driving process. Generally the input power supply for PDP driving employes a two-stage power factor corrected converter, and it independently consists of sustain driver, which has high power consumption. However, such a circuit configuration has a difficulty for the PDP market requires low cost. To alleviate this problem, a new circuit composition is presented. It integrates input power supply with sustain driver in a single power stack. The input power supply of the proposed circuit has a single-stage structure to minimize power conversion loss, and it directly supplies power to the sustain driver so as to reduce the system size and cost.

  • In this study, the heat balance test of an engine was conducted, and the heat released to coolant is measured and corrected using a power adjustment factor for high fuel temperature to simulate heat rejection of the engine. An engine-converter matching simulation program which can compute the engine speed, transmission output speed, transmission input and output power is developed from the vehicle, transmission and engine performance curve. With this information and the engine heat rejection characteristics, the engine and transmission heat rejection rates can be determined at given condition. In analyzing the air mass flow, a sub program computing the air mass flow rate from the equation of the pressure balance between cooling fan static pressure rise and pressure losses of cooling components is developed.

  • 높은 효율과 긴 수명 등으로 형광등을 대체하며 차세대 조명기구로 각광받고 있는 LED 는 필수불가결적으로 PFC 및 DC-DC 컨버터 등으로 구성된 구동회로가 필요하다. 일반적으로 이러한 LED 구동회로의 조건으로 전체 90 % 이상의 고효율이 요구되고 있으나 Two-Stage 로 구성된 구동회로의 하드 스위칭에 따른 손실 및 기타 요건들에 의한 전력소모로 인해 실질적으로 완벽하게 조건을 달성하기 까다롭다. 최근에는 이러한 구동조건을 달성하기 위해 브릿지리스 PFC 컨버터를 적용한 Two-Stage 를 사용하거나 순환 전류 및 스위칭 손실이 보다 적은 LLC 공진 컨버터를 LED 용 구동회로에 접목하는 추세이다. 이에 따라서 본 논문은 LED 조명용 Single-stage LLC 공진 컨버터를 구성하여 동작특성을 분석하였다.

A Study on Estimating Method of Vehicle Fuel Consumption Using GPS Data (GPS 데이터를 이용한 차량의 연료소모량 연산법 연구)

  • It's important to measure fuel consumption of vehicles. It's possible to monitor green house gas from vehicles for various traffic conditions with the measured data. It's effective to eco-drive for drivers with fuel consumption data also. There's a display of fuel consumption in the modern vehicles, but it's not useful to get the data from the display. An estimating method for fuel consumption of a vehicle is suggested in the study. It's a simple but an effective method using GPS data. The GPS data(speed, acceleration, road slope) and vehicle data(weight, frontal area, model year, certified fuel economy) is necessary to estimate the fuel consumption for the method. It calculates driving resistance force to estimate engine power. Then it estimates the necessary fuel consumption to maintain the engine power with fuel-power conversion factor. The conversion factor is corrected with certified fuel economy, model year and rated power. The precision of the methods is checked with road test data. The test driving data was measured with GPS and OBD. The error of the estimated fuel consumption for the measured one is about 1.8%. But the error is large for the 1000 and 100 data number from the total data number of about 10,000. The error is from the larger change range of the GPS data than the one of the measured fuel consumption data. But the proposed estimating method is useful to percept the fuel consumption change for better fuel economy with simple gadget like smart phone or other GPS instruments.
