  • This study delves into methods for enhancing the power efficiency of air compressor systems, with the primary objective of significantly impacting industrial energy consumption and environmental preservation. The paper scrutinizes Shinhan Airro Co., Ltd.'s power efficiency optimization technology and employs machine learning ensemble models to simulate power efficiency optimization. The results indicate that Shinhan Airro's optimization system led to a notable 23.5% increase in power efficiency. Nonetheless, the study's simulations, utilizing machine learning ensemble techniques, reveal the potential for a further 51.3% increase in power efficiency. By continually exploring and advancing these methodologies, this research introduces a practical approach for identifying optimization points through data-driven simulations using machine learning ensembles.

  • Owing to the development of Internet of Things (IoT), the fifth-generation (5G) wireless communication is going to foresee a substantial increase of mobile traffic demand. Energy efficiency and spectral efficiency are the challenges in a 5G network. Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is a promising technique to increase the system efficiency by adaptive power control (PC) in a 5G network. This paper proposes an efficient PC scheme based on evolutionary game theory (EGT) model for uplink power-domain NOMA system. The proposed PC scheme allows users to adaptively adjusts their transmit power level in order to improve their payoffs or throughput which results in an increase of the system efficiency. In order to separate the user signals, a successive interference cancellation (SIC) receiver installed at the base station (BS) site. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed EGT-based PC scheme outperforms the traditional game theory-based PC schemes and orthogonal multiple access (OMA) in terms of energy efficiency and spectral efficiency.

  • More than 80% of electric loads need DC electricity rather than AC at the moment. If DC power could be supplied directly to the terminal loads, power conversion stages including rectifiers, converters, and power adapters can be reduced or simplified. Therefore, DC microgrids may be able to improve energy efficiency of power distribution systems. In addition, DC microgrids can increase the penetration level of renewable energy resources because many renewable energy resources such as solar photovoltaic(PV) generators, fuel cells, and batteries generate electric power in the form of DC power. The integration of the DC generators to AC electric power systems requires the power conversion circuits that may cause additional energy loss. This paper discusses the capability and feasibility of DC microgrids with regard to energy efficiency analysis through detailed dynamic simulation of DC and AC microgrids. The dynamic simulation models of DC and AC microgrids based on the Microgrid Test System in KEPCO Research Institute are described in detail. Through simulation studies on various conditions, this paper compares the energy efficiency and advantages of DC and AC microgrids.

  • In this paper, we design a high efficiency class E power amplifier operating at low drain bias voltage for wireless power transfers. A 13.56 MHz power amplifier is designed at drain bias voltage of 12.5 V using Si MOSFET with the breakdown voltage of 40 V. High quality-factor solenoidal inductor is designed and fabricated for use in output matching circuit to improve output power and efficiency. Input matching circuit simply consists of resistor and inductor to reduce the circuit area and improve the stability. The fabricated power amplifier shows the measured output power of 38.6 dBm with the gain of 16.6 dB and power added efficiency of 89.3 % at 13.56 MHz.

  • This paper proposes an energy-efficient mode selection and power allocation scheme in device-to-device (D2D) communication system as an underlay coexistence with cellular networks. We analyze the energy efficiency which is defined as the summation of the energy efficiencies for all devices. The proposed scheme consists of two steps. First, we calculate the transmission power maximizing the energy efficiency for all possible modes of each device. Although the proposed power cannot maximize the system capacity, we prove that the proposed transmission power is the optimal power which maximizes the energy efficiency. In the second step, we select a mode which has the maximal energy efficiency among all possible mode combinations of the devices. Then we can jointly obtain the transmission power and the mode which can maximize the energy efficiency. The proposed scheme has the optimal performance with respect to the energy efficiency and outperforms the conventional schemes.

  • This paper studies the energy efficiency power allocation for cognitive radio networks based on uplink orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing. The power allocation problem is intended to minimize the maximum energy efficiency measured by "Joule per bit" metric, under total power constraint and robust aggregate mutual interference power constraint. However, the above problem is non-convex. To make it solvable, an equivalent convex optimization problem is derived that can be solved by general fractional programming. Then, a robust energy efficiency power allocation scheme is presented. Simulation results corroborate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

  • This paper investigates efficiency and power factor of Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) using Finite Element Method considered driving circuit. The efficiency and power factor are calculated in Input terminal and Output terminal respectively. When calculating power factor, apparent power is obtained by effective voltage and current because SRM is operated by switching of driving circuit. Efficiency is calculated by mechanical output and active power. Finally, the characteristics of efficiency and power factor in three proposed models are compared due to the switching pattern.

  • This paper demonstrates an efficiency improvement of the class E power amplifier (PA) by tuning-out the input capacitance ($C_{IN}$) of the power HBT with a shunt inductance. In order to obtain high output power, the PA needs the large emitter size of a transistor. The larger the emitter size, the higher the parasitic capacitance. The parasitic $C_{IN}$ affects the distortion of the voltage signal at the base node and changes the duty cycle to decrease the PA's efficiency. Adopting the L-C resonance, we obtain a remarkable efficiency improvement of as much as 7%. This PA exhibits output power of 29 dBm and collector efficiency of 71% at 1.9 GHz.

  • In this paper, the power transfer efficiency analysis based on the resonant repeater in a magnetic resonance wireless power transfer system is proposed. The efficiency of the magnetic resonance method was verified by comparing the general frequency with the resonance frequency. The resonance repeater was arranged to increase the efficiency and increase the transfer distance. When using resonant repeaters, the maximum efficiency increase is about 36.23[%] and the transfer distance was extended to more than 20[cm]. Through this study, confirmed the effect of using resonance repeaters in wireless power transfer system. As a result, it can be expected that the overall technology related to wireless power transfer system will be more valuable for energy-IT technology.

  • This paper aims at enhancing the electric production efficiency of photovoltaic(PV) system. The electrical power of PV system is proportional to light intensity on a PV module surface. In this paper, we apply two types of systems to enhance power generation efficiency. First, of all, concentring sunlight using specular surface and one-axis tracking system which traces the sun with vertical direction are applied in this project. From this, we analyze the fixed type method and power generation efficiency.
