  • After various measuring methods and system were investigated, Rogowski colis for the measurement of parameters in current zero region were designed and manufactured. Using the Rogowski coils and a 38kV 40kA VCB (vacuum circuit breaker), at last the post-arc current has been successfully measured firstly. It was found that the Rogowski coils used in this study have good characteristics and propriety to measure the parameters of current zero. We realized that the data processing for evaluating the post-arc current from the experimental results needs much more careful attention than that for building the measuring technique and system. The magnitude of post-arc current and the falling time of it to zero are proportioned to the rate of current di/dt. The magnitude of post-arc currents were around $1{\sim}3A$ to the interruption current of $20{\sim}30kA$ in the model VCB.

  • In deeply scaled CMOS technologies, two major non-ideal factors are threatening the survival of the CMOS; i) PVT (process, voltage, and temperature) variations and ii) leakage power consumption. In this paper, we propose a novel post-silicon tuning methodology to scale optimum voltage and frequency "dynamically". The proposed design technique will use our PVT sensor circuits to monitor the variations and based on the monitored variation data, voltage and frequency will be compensated "automatically". During the compensation process, supply voltage is dynamically adjusted to guarantee the minimum total power consumption without violating the frequency requirement. The simulation results show that the proposed technique can reduce the total power by 85% and the static power by 53% on average for the selected ISCAS'85 benchmark circuits with 45 nm CMOS technology compared to the results of the traditional PVT compensation method.

  • The depth of field is the range that the objects inside of this range treated to be focused. Objects that are placed out of this range are out of focus and become blurred. In computer graphics, generating depth of field effects gives a great reality to rendered images. The previous researches on the depth of field in computer graphics can be divided into two major categories. One of them is the distributed ray tracing that samples the lens area against each pixel. It is possible to obtain precise results without noise if enough number of samples are taken. However, to make a good result, a great number of samples are needed, resulting in an enormous timing requirement. The other approach is the method that approximates depth of field effect by post-processing an image and its depth values computed using a pin-hole camera. Though the second technique is not that physically correct like distributed ray tracing, many approaches which using this idea have been introduced because it is much faster than the first approach. But the post-processing have some limitations because of the lack of ray information. In this paper, we first present an improvement technique that corrects the previous post-processing methods and then propose another one that accelerates the distributed ray tracing by using a radiance caching method.

  • State diagrams describe the dynamic behavior of an individual object as a number of states and transitions between these states. In this paper, we propose an automated technique to the generation of a state diagram from class operations with pre/post conditions. And I also develop a supporting tool, SDAG (State Diagram Automatic Generation tool). Additionally, we propose a complexity metric and a state diagram generation approach concerning types of each operation for decreasing complexity of generated state diagram.

  • The cellular neural networks have the circuit structure that differs from the form of general neural network. It consists of an array of the same cell which is a simple processing element, and each of the cells has local connectivity and space invariant template property. In this paper, time-multiplex image processing technique is applied for processing large images using small size CNN cell block, and we simulate the edge detection of a large image using the simulator implemented with a c program and matlab model. A 5$\times$5 CNN hardware and pre post processor is also implemented and is under test.

  • The Korea Meteorological Administration has improved medium-range weather forecasts by implementing post-processing methods to minimize numerical model errors. In this study, we employ a statistical correction technique known as the minimum continuous ranked probability score (CRPS) to refine medium-range forecast guidance. This technique quantifies the similarity between the predicted values and the observed cumulative distribution function of the Unified Model Ensemble Prediction System for Global (UM EPSG). We evaluated the performance of the medium-range forecast guidance for surface air temperature and relative humidity, noting significant enhancements in seasonal bias and root mean squared error compared to observations. Notably, compared to the existing the medium-range forecast guidance, temperature forecasts exhibit 17.5% improvement in summer and 21.5% improvement in winter. Humidity forecasts also show 12% improvement in summer and 23% improvement in winter. The results indicate that utilizing the minimum CRPS for medium-range forecast guidance provide more reliable and improved performance than UM EPSG.

  • Frame Synchronization is applied to not only digital data transmission for data synchronization between transmitter and receiver but also data communication with satellite. When satellite image data with high resolution and mass storage is transmitted, hardware frame synchronizer for real-time processing or software frame synchronizer for post-processing is used. In case of hardware, processing with high speed is available but data loss may happen for Search of Frame Synchronization. In case of software, data loss does not happen but speed is relatively slow. In this paper, Pending Buffer concept was proposed to cope with data loss according to processing status of Frame Synchronization. Algorithm to process Frame synchronization with high speed using bit threshold search algorithm with pattern search technique and SIMD is also proposed.

  • To apply the real-time kinematic GPS surveying technique, this research has tried to obtain the TOKYO datum first from the continuous reference stations distributed all over the country. Then, analysis of the geography of a coastal area including both of land and sea has been carried out by the post-processed continuous kinematic GPS technique and the real-time kinematic GPS surveying technique. After considering the initial conditions and measuring time zone for real-time kinematic GPS, post-processed and the real-time kinematic GPS measurements have been carried out. A new system has been proposed to store measured data by using a program developed to store GPS data in real time and to monitor the satellite condition through controller simultaneously. The accuracy of GPS data acquired in real time was as good as that acquired by post processing. It is expected that it will be useful for the analysis of coastal geographic characteristics because DTM can be also constructed for the harbor reclamation, the dredging and the variation of soil movement in a river.

  • This paper presents structural analyses performed on the white body of vehicle using the most competitive analyzer, Finite Element Method, and attempts to obtain design criteria of body. By applying the substructure and restart technique to structural model, computation time is reduced. The synthetic processing from modelling to graphic visualization is accomplished by several subprograms, viz., various pre-post processors. On the basis of home-made vehicle modeling, typical cases of accident and service load is analyzed and discussed. The results obtained will guide the designer to design the structure optimally.

  • In this article, we propose and analyze a new nonconforming primal mixed finite element method for the stationary Stokes equations. The approximation is based on the pseudostress-velocity formulation. The incompressibility condition is used to eliminate the pressure variable in terms of trace-free pseudostress. The pressure is then computed from a simple post-processing technique. Unique solvability and optimal convergence are proved. Numerical examples are given to illustrate the performance of the method.
