Outcome measures included physical and emotional function. Results: The program participants had significantly greater motor function (t=-2.85, p=.008) and activity of daily living (t=-5.34, p<.001), and lower depression (t=5.20, p<.001), state anxiety (t=4.71, p<.001), and trait anxiety (t=4.40, p<.001). Conclusion: The nurse managed day care rehabilitation program significantly improved physical and emotional function in patients with job-related injuries. The program should be further tested in a larger sample to validate the findings.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of an individual education program on breast cancer patients who received chemotherapy. Methods: The quasi-experimental design was employed with a nonequivalent control group pre-post test. The study was performed from January 1 to July 30, 2010 for the patients who were firstly treated by A C (Adriamycin, Cyclophosphamide) chemotherapy in a university hospital. Control group was recruited first to prevent treatment diffusion. The experimental group was recruited and received an individual education during 30 minutes. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 16.0 version. ${\chi}^2$-test, t-test, and the Pearson correlation were implemented in order to examine the effect of the individual education among the patients who are treated by chemotherapy. Results: The experimental group had a greater improvement in self-care knowledge (t=-5.236, p=.001), and self-care performance (t=-6.543, p=.004) than did control group. Moreover, the experimental group had significantly positive correlation between self-care knowledge and self-care performance (r=.494, p=.006) as compared to the control group. Conclusion: The individual education program on cancer patients who were treated by chemotherapy could be utilized as an effective nursing intervention.

The research showed a meaningful change of p>.001 for self-esteem and the ideal family in pre, post-test to the experimental group and control group. That proved the effectiveness of the pre-parent education program. Observing the experimental group's change process, the researcher proved the following results. At the beginning of the program experimental group showed hopelessness and disliked participating in the program. At the end of this, they had active attitudes, confidence and challenge to the vision. This study contains theory and various practical family activities. This study made a contribution to help adolescents in residential care enhance self-esteem and define the future ideal family.

The program educates hypertensives in community areas about blood pressure, self-care, health promoting behaviors, and life satisfaction. For this purpose a one group time series design was used. Sixteen subjects were evaluated from S Community Health center of B city. Self-help programs developed by the author were given to the subjects. The program consisted of group education on hypertension and self-care including blood pressure self-monitoring, recording of self-care activities, and encouraging and reinforcing self-help. The whole program was carried out from October to December in 2002. Data was analyzed by repeated measure ANOVA, and post-hoc Turkey. The results were as follows: There were significant relationships between changes in systolic pressure(F=10.638. P=.000), diastolic pressure(F=6.783. p=.013), self-care(F=13.506. p=.000), and health promoting behavior(F=9.067. p=.001) at the 6th week and the 9th week. There were no significant relationships between changes in life satisfaction at the 6th week or 9th week. From these results, it can be concluded that the self-help program is an effective nursing strategy to promote self-care of hypertensives in community areas.

  • Purpose: The study was to analyze clinical outcomes and risk factors of for complications associated with the hip fracture surgery in the elderly before and after interdisciplinary treatment. Methods: A retrospective method was used to investigate the general and therapeutic characteristics, frequency of complications and clinical outcomes. The subjects of the study were 553 patients who underwent hip fracture surgery from January, 2009 to December, 2014. Results: The interdisciplinary group was older and less likely to walk independently even before the fracture than a usual care group. The incidence of complications was higher in the interdisciplinary group than the usual care group. The prevalence of complications in both groups was 66.5%. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showsed that the risk factors for complications of hip fracture surgery were as follows: advanced age, stroke, Parkinson disease, time interval from emergency room to operation, pre & post ambulatory status, American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) classification quality of postop intensive care unit (ICU) care and foley indwelling. Conclusion: This study has implications in that it recognized the necessity for interdisciplinary treatment and provided the basic base data for nursing intervention of the elderly patients who underwent hip fracture surgery.

  • Purpose: This study was to identify the effects of simulation-based training for advanced cardic life support on the competence of nurses in critical care settings. Methods: In this study, a nonequivalent control pretest-post test quasi-experimental design was used. Data were collected from May 1 to June 1, 2006 at one general hospital in W city. Among 40 nurses in critical care settings, twenty were assigned to the experimental group and twenty to the control group. Nurses in the experimental group received simulation-based training for advanced cardiac life support. Measurement tool were ACLS related knowledge and skills developed by AHA & Mega Code (2005) and some items were modified. The collected data were statistically processed using SPSS version 12.0 for Windows, and analyzed using descriptive statistics, $X^2$test, t-test, paired ttest, Pearson correlation coefficients. Results: 1) Hypothesis 1“: Nurses who received simulationbased training would have more knowledge of advanced cardiac life support than nurses who received traditional training”, was supported (t=11.51, p=.00). 2) Hypothesis 2: “Nurses who received simulation-based training would have better advanced cardiac life support skills than nurses who received traditional training”, was supported (t=2.38, p=.00). Conclusion: Simulation-based training for advanced cardiac life support is an effective strategy for increasing the competence of nurses in advanced cardiac life support in critical care settings.
