Characteristic of Trait Anxiety and Positive Psychological Factors in Patients with Depression and/or Anxiety Disorders (우울증 및 불안장애 환자에서 특성불안 차이에 따른 긍정심리요인의 특징)

  • Objective : The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between trait anxiety and positive psychological factors. Methods : A total of 429 outpatients diagnosed with depression and/or anxiety disorders surveyed with questionnaires measuring socio-demographic, clinical, and positive psychological factors. The relationships of trait anxiety with clinical symptoms and positive psychological factors were evaluated. Results : Patients with low trait anxiety showed high optimism, gratitude, hope, spirituality and purpose in life. After adjusting age, scores of BDI and STAI-S, the results showed low trait anxiety was associated with high spirituality and purpose in life. Conclusion : The result revealed that trait anxiety had negative-relationship with spirituality and purpose in life in patients with depressive and/or anxiety disorders. Although trait anxiety was known as a general tendency which is stable, approach to trait anxiety by modulating these associated positive psychological factors would be newer approach of treatment to patients with depressive and/or anxiety disorders.

Influences of Burnout, Emotional labor, and Positive Psychological Capital on Job Satisfaction of Nurses (간호사의 소진, 감정노동 및 긍정심리자본이 직무만족에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand job satisfaction, burnout, emotional labor and positive psychological capital and to identify the factors that influence on job satisfaction in the hospital nurses. Methods: This study was conducted through a survey of 274 nurses at two hospitals in the D city, Korea. Data were collected in September 7 to September 23, 2016 using structured questionnaires which included general characteristics, burnout, job satisfaction, positive psychological capital and emotional labor. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, and stepwise multiple regression test with SPSS/WIN 22.0. Results: The score for job satisfaction was 3.03 out of 5. Job satisfaction was significantly correlated with burnout, emotional labor and positive psychological capital. The factors influencing job satisfaction were age, burnout, emotional labor and positive psychological capital. The predict variables accounted for 37.5% of job satisfaction. Conclusion: The results of this study show that factors influencing job satisfaction are burnout, emotional labor and positive psychological capital. Therefore, it is necessary to develop intervention programs to improve job satisfaction of nurses for emotional labor reduction and positive psychological capital improvement.

Factors influencing positive psychological capital of dental hygiene students (치위생과 학생의 긍정심리자본에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • Objectives: This study aimed to explore ways to improve the level of positive psychological capital of dental hygiene students. After comparing the levels of positive psychological capital, social support, and emotional regulation ability of dental hygiene students and identifying correlations, the sub-factors of social support and emotional regulation ability that affect positive psychological capital were identified. Methods: A survey of 70 questions was conducted targeting 310 dental hygiene students in Gyeonggi-do and Chungcheong-do. The results were subjected to exploratory factor analysis, frequency analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis using the PASW statistics 18.0 program. Results: The level of positive psychological capital was high when students had high grades and perceived positive relationships with professors and peers (p<0.001). Factors highly correlated with positive psychological capital include 'self-emotional regulation ability' among 'emotion regulation abilities' (r=0.665, p<0.001), and 'emotional support related to daily life' recognized 'social support' (r=0.635, p<0.001), followed by 'social support' (r=0.602, p<0.001). Factors affecting positive psychological capital include 'self-emotion recognized ability' (β=0.377, p<0.001), 'quality of professor relationship' (β=0.201, p<0.001), and 'emotion control ability'. Among 'social support', 'emotional support related to daily life' (β=0.201, p=0.003) and 'grades' (β=0.159, p<0.001), and among 'social support', 'social-related support' (β=0.149, p=0.016), followed by 'grade' (β=0.076, p=0.043) were identified. Conclusions: To improve the positive psychological capital of dental hygiene students, efforts should be made to improve self-emotion regulation ability, professor relationships, emotional support related to daily life, and social support.

A Study on the Impact Positive Psychological Capital of Tour Guides on Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment (관광가이드의 긍정심리자본 요인이 직무만족 및 조직몰입에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to identify the influence relationship between positive psychological capital, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment of tourism guides, and to provide implications through empirical research to increase the capabilities of tourism guides that are a factor in the performance of planned travel products Design/methodology/approach - This study conducted an empirical survey using the google online questionnaire. It was directly surveyed, distributed, and collected from workers who were or were performing tourism guide duties in Asia and Europe, and 203 questionnaires were used for analysis. The empirical survey was conducted in a self-written manner through a simple random sampling method, and the statistical package was conducted with frequency analysis, factor analysis, multiple regression analysis, and correlation analysis using the spss 21.0 program. Findings - First, among the positive psychological capital factors, two factors, hope and optimism, have a significant positive (+) effect on job satisfaction. Second, among the positive psychological capital factors, two factors, self-efficacy and optimism, have a significant positive (+) effect on organizational commitment. Third, job satisfaction has a significant positive (+) effect on organizational commitment Research implications or Originality - The implications of this study are that the research results have had a positive (+) effect on the variables of positive psychological capital, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment of tourism guides, and have laid the foundation for academic research on research topics. In practice, it is expected to increase the positive psychological capital of tourism guides and have a significant impact on the organization's performance by actively supporting and supporting individuals related to the sustainable growth of travel products.

  • In this study, we would like to consider the main factors that influence psychological well-being by using social network service. suggest ways to use healthy social network services, and empirically verify how behavioral approaches, in other words self-determination theory, that deals with human psychological needs, affect psychological well-being by self-esteem and satisfaction to comprehensively examine the characteristics of service and user individuals and social influences, etc. First research result, it has been confirmed that the autonomy has a positive effect on self-esteem. Second, it has been confirmed that the autonomy does not have a positive effect on satisfaction. Third, it has been confirmed that the competence has a positive effect on self-esteem. Fourth, it has been confirmed that the competence does not have a positive effect on satisfaction. Fifth, it has been confirmed that the relationship has a positive effect on self-esteem. Sixth, it has been confirmed that the relationship does not have a positive effect on satisfaction. Seventh, it has been confirmed that self-esteem has a positive effect on psychological well-being. Eighth, it has been confirmed that self-esteem has a positive effect on satisfaction. Ninth, it has been confirmed that satisfaction has a positive effect on psychological well-being. These results mean that meeting basic human psychological needs has a significant impact on psychological well-being of the social network service users. In addition, it was confirmed that increasing the desire for autonomy, competence, relationship, which are factors of self-determination, is an important factor to enhance psychological well-being.

Influencing of compassion satisfaction and burnout on positive psychological capital of clinical dental hygienists

  • Objectives: This study seeks to identify the positive psychological capital, burnout, and compassion satisfaction levels of clinical dental hygienists to understand the factors affecting positive psychological capital and to establish measures to improve the positive psychological capital, and to utilize them. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 190 dental hygienists of the clinic from February 1 to April 30, 2020. Statistical analyses were conducted with the help of independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. Results: Dental hygienists scored 3.47 points in positive psychological capital. The variables that influenced positive psychological capital were burnout and compassion satisfaction. The variables influencing positive psychological capital were monthly income_dummy2 (200-249/≥250), burnout, and compassion satisfaction. Conclusions: The positive psychological capital of clinical dental hygienists was found to be related to burnout and compassion satisfaction; additionally, compassion satisfaction had the greatest influence. Therefore, it will reduce burnout, improve compassion satisfaction, positive psychological capital, and contribute to efficient human resource management.

Impact of dental hygienists' positive psychological capital, growth mindset, and self-leadership on retention intention (치과위생사의 긍정심리자본과 성장마인드셋, 셀프리더십이 재직의도에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to analyze the factors influencing the positive psychological capital, growth mindset, and self-leadership of dental hygienists in the Seoul and Gyeonggi regions with regard to their retention intention. The findings would serve as basic data for improving the retention intention. Methods: The methods espoused for analysis comprised independent sample t-test and ANOVA for group comparisons, Pearson's correlation analysis for examining the correlation between variables, and multiple regression analysis for identifying factors affecting retention intention. Results: Positive psychological capital was higher among those under the age of 27 and employed in dental clinics. Growth mindset was higher among those with less than three years of work experience and those working in clinics. Self-leadership was higher among those aged 28-31, and retention intention was higher among those under the age of 27 and with less than three years of work experience (p<0.05). A correlation was observed between positive psychological capital and self-leadership (r=0.760), self-leadership and retention intention (r=0.514), positive psychological capital and retention intention (r=0.505), positive psychological capital and growth mindset (r=0.337), and growth mindset and self-leadership (r=0.245) (p<0.001). Factors influencing the intention to stay at work were self-leadership (β=0.309) and positive psychological capital (β=0.242) (p<0.05). Conclusions: In order to improve dental hygienists' retention intention, it is necessary to devise strategies for improving positive psychological capital and self-leadership.

Factors Affecting Burnout among Clinical Nurses according to Positive Psychological Capital (임상 간호사의 긍정심리역량이 소진에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze factors affecting burnout among clinical nurses according to Positive Psychological Capital. Methods: The study design was a descriptive survey and questionnaires were collected from 412 clinical nurses who worked in a general hospital in "J" city. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, independent t-test, One-way ANOVA, Scheff$\acute{e}$ test, Pearson Correlation, and hierarchical multiple regression. Results: In Model individual characteristics accounted for 27.8% of the influence on burnout. In model II with the addition of the 4 factors; Self-efficacy, Hope, Resilience, Optimism, individual characteristics accounted for 48.5% of the influence on burnout. Optimism and Resilience of the Positive Psychological Capital sub-variables were statistically useful as factors influencing burnout. Conclusion: The results indicate that it is necessary to develop active human resource management and educational programs to decrease burnout and strengthen the Positive Psychological Capital of the nurses.

The Influence of Psychiatric Nurses' Positive Psychological Capital, Empathy Ability and Stress Coping Style on Their Compassion Fatigue (정신과 병동 간호사의 긍정심리자본, 공감능력, 스트레스 대처방식이 공감피로에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effect of positive psychological capital, empathy ability, and stress coping style on psychiatric ward nurses' compassion fatigue. Methods: Data were collected using structured questionnaires for 140 psychiatric ward nurses. The data were analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA, and hierarchical regression. Results: The variable predictors of compassion fatigue were as follows: positive psychological capital (β=-.35, p<.001), empathy ability (β=.32, p<.001), and passive coping (β=.25, p=.004). These factors explained 27% of compassion fatigue, and psychological capital was found to have the greatest influence among these variables. Conclusion: Positive psychological capital, empathy ability, and passive coping are important factors influencing nurses' compassion fatigue in psychiatric wards. It is necessary to develop interventions and appropriate coping styles that strengthen positive psychological capital to prevent and reduce nurses' compassion fatigue in psychiatric wards. In addition, it is necessary to identify the required level of empathy ability to maintain a therapeutic relationship.

Effects of Academic Stress and Academic Self-Efficacy on Positive Psychological Capital of Nursing Students (간호대학생의 학업스트레스, 학업적 자기효능감이 긍정심리자본에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose. The purpose of this study was to examine relationships among academic stress and academic self-efficacy on positive psychological capital and identify the factors that influence on positive psychological capital in the nursing students. Methods. The data were collected from 184 nursing students in the five colleges located Y and S city using self-reported questionnaires and Oct. 25 2020 to Nov. 5 2020. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, T-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression with SPSS 20.0 program. Results. The result of positive psychological capital was found to be in a significant positive correlated with academic self-efficacy. the multiple regression indicates the Major satisfaction and academic self-efficacy 22.1%(F=11.4 P<.001) of positive psychological capital. Conclusions. Therefore, it is necessary to develop academic self-efficacy increase education program for strategy positive psychological capital in nursing students.
