This paper contains a precise calibration technique for the position of seabed acoustic target and theoretical error analysis of calibration results. The target is deployed on seabed as a standalone transponder. The purpose of target is performing accuracy test for active sonar as well as position calibration itself. For the position calibration, relative range between target and test vessel should be measured using target's transponder function. The relative range data combined with vessel position can be converted into a estimated position of target by the application of nonlinear LSE method. The error analysis of position calibration was divided into two stages. One is for relative range estimator and the other for target position estimator. Numerical simulations for position calibration showed good matching between results and developed CRLB.
In this work, a new 3-PSP type spatial 3-degree-of-freedom parallel mechanism is proposed. And a 6 DOF hybrid manipulator which consists of a 3-PPR type planar 3 DOF parallel mechanism and a new 3-PSP type spatial 3-degree-of-freedom parallel mechanism is proposed. Both 3 DOF mechanism modules have closed-form forward position solutions and particularly, 3-PSP spatial module has unique forward position solution. Firstly, the closed-form position analysis and first-order kinematic analysis for the proposed 3-PSP type module are carried out, and the first-order kinematic characteristics are examined via maximum singular value and the isotropic index of the mechanism. It is shown through these analyses that the mechanism has excellent isotrpic property throughout the workspace. Secondly, position and kinematic analysis of the 3-PPR planar module are briefly described. Thirdly, the forward position analysis for the 3-PPR 3-PSP type 6 degree-of-freedom hybrid mechanism consisting of a 3-PPR planar module and a 3-PSP spatial module is performed along with the analysis of the workspace size and first-order kinematic characteristics. The kinematic characteristics of the proposed hybrid manipulator are compared to those of geometrically similar Stewart manipulator.
This paper addresses the concept of the representative mean position, which was devised to improve the numerical efficiency of a time domain fatigue analysis of a mooring chain. To investigate the influence of an artificial offset of the floater on the fatigue of the mooring chain, a parametric study was performed on the moored FPSO under various combinations of offsets and environmental conditions. Tension time histories were calculated using the de-coupled analysis method, and fatigue damages were calculated to determine the influence of the offset. The parametric study was extended to a more realistic case to determine the actual effect of the representative mean position, where a comparison was made between the two different analysis results, one using the representative mean position and the other one using the actual mean position. It was confirmed that the application of the representative mean position guaranteed the conservatism of the fatigue damage with the enhanced numerical efficiency in the time domain fatigue analysis.
In this paper, the initial pole-position estimation of a surface (non-salient) permanent magnet synchronous motor is mathematically analyzed and surveyed on the basis of simulation analysis, and developed for accurate servo motor drive. This algorithm is well carried out under the full closed-loop position control without any pole sensors and is completely insensitive to any motor parameters. This estimation is based on the principle that the initial pole-position is simply calculated by the reverse trigonometric function using the two feedback currents in the full closed-loop position control. The proposed algorithm consists of the predefined reference position profile, the information of feedback currents, speed, and relative position, and the reverse trigonometric function for the initial-pole position estimation. Comparing with the existing researches, the mathematical analysis is introduced to get a more accurate initial pole-position of the surface permanent magnet motor under the closed-loop position control. It is found that the proposed algorithm can be easily applied in servo drive applications because it satisfies the following user's specifications; accuracy and moving distance.
The compound of the 6,7-dichloroquinoline-5,8-dione has two asymmetric chloro radicals at the position of the C6 and C7. When the compound reacts with ethyl acetoacetate in the presence of sodium ethoxide, it is considered that C6 and/or C7 position of the compound can be substitued. The exact substitued position of the product (I) could not be identified by the NMR analysis in our experiment. Therefore, we synthesized the 3-ethoxycarbonyl-2-methyl-1-N-propyl pyridino(2,3f)indole-4,9-dione by reaction of the product (I) with propylamine via intramolecular cyclization to identify the substitued position of the product (I) using the X-ray crystallographic structure analysis. The result demonstrates that the position of nucleophilic substitution of the product (I) is at the position of the C6.
Purpose: This study was done to investigate the effects of backrest elevation of 0 degree and 30 degrees that minimize the risk of increasing ICP when CVP is measured. Methods: Subjects were sixty-four patients who stayed in the neurosurgical intensive care unit after brain surgery at two university-based hospitals. CVP, blood pressure, heart rate and ICP were measured along with position changes in order of backrest position with primary 30 degrees backrest position, 0 degree backrest position and secondary 30 degrees backrest position. For data analysis, one-group, repeated-measures analysis of variance design was used in SAS program. Results: Backrest elevations from 0 degree to 30 degrees did not alter the CVP without increasing the ICP. Therefore, 30 degrees backrest position is a preventive position without increasing ICP. Conclusion: 30 degrees backrest position might be appropriate for brain injury patients when CVP is measured.

This paper presents a statistical analysis on the position-specific distributions of amino acid residues in transmembrane proteins. A hidden Markov model segments membrane proteins to produce segmented regions of homogeneous statistical property from variable-length amino acids sequences. These segmented residues are analyzed by using chi-square statistic and relative-entropy in order to find position-specific amino acids. This analysis showed that isoleucine and valine concentrated on the center of membrane-spanning regions, tryptophan, tyrosine and positive residues were found frequently near both ends of membrane.
The use of error compensation techniques has been recognized as an effective way in the improvement of the accuracy of a machine tool. The laser measurement method for identifying position errors of machine tool has the disadvantages such as high cost, long calibration time and usage of volumetric error synthesis model. Accordingly, this paper deals with analysis of the position errors of a machine tool using ball bar test without using complicated error synthesis model. Statistical analysis method was adopted in this paper for deriving position errors using hemispherical helix ball bar test.
In this paper, a flux linkage model based on four magnetization curves fitting is proposed for three-phase 12/8 switched reluctance motor (SRM), with the analysis of the basic principle of flux detection method and function analysis method. In the model, the single value function mapping relationship between position angle and flux is established, which can achieve a direct estimation of rotor position. The realization scheme of SRM indirect position detection system is presented. It is proved by simulation and experiment that the proposed scheme is suitable for rotor position detection of SRM, and has high accuracy of position estimation.
Two control strategies are proposed for two arm robots; i.e. position-position control and position-force control. For the proof of these control strategies, the stability analysis is conducted with robot dynamics included. First, the closed form dynamic equation of the robot is derived, then it is transformed into the operational space for further analysis. Finally, Liapunov method is applied to the dynamic equation in operational space.
