GBFS(granulated Blast Furnace Slag이하 GBFS라 함)의 경우 플로우는 감소하며, 초기강도는 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. MC의 경우 플라이애시 혼입시 강도발현에 있어 도움이 되지 않는 것으로 나타났다.
Recently, it has been increased to construct massive concrete structures, like under-ground structure, offshore structure etc., ie. concrete construction have become larger and higher and are demanding lower heat concrete to prevent thermal cracking. It has been progressed to replace cements with fly-ash and slag to lower heat of hydration, but it is hard to control quality of the mineral admixtures in stage of adjusting of real construction. Application of low heat portland(Belite Rich) cement for the mass concrete is the best solution to satisfied those requirements. Here are explained the basic properties of fresh concrete as well as hardened concrete of using low heat portland cement(LHPC). Also, we compare the results of adiabatic temperature rise test using LHPC and OPC.
Recently, concrete structures have become larger and higher and are demanding high performance concrete with lower heat to prevent thermal cracking, far greater workability, high strength and durability, Application of low heat portland(Type IV) cement for the high performance concrete is the best solution to satisfied those requirements. Here are explained the effect on the properties of high flowing concrete using low heat portland cement by material and mixing variations. Variables for sensitivity test were selected items like finess modulus of aggregates, particle size of limestone powder, unit water, superplasticizer, viscosity agent and concrete temperature. The results of this study were be applied to slurry wall of #215 and #216 of underground LNG tank in Inchon.
Concretes with binary blends of Portland cement, silica fume, fly ash and ground granulated blast furnace slag were produce to investigate their effects on compressive strength and chloride transport in rapid chloride permeability. Ten different mix of concrete with 0.45 water/binder were produced. Portland cement was replacedby: (i) 10%, 20%, 30% Fly ash (ii) 3%, 5%, 10% Silica Fume (iii) 20%, 40%, 60% GGBS. Compressive strength of concrete with the pozzolans is higher compared to that of the Portland cement concrete. The test results indicate the fly ash, silica fume, and ground granulated furnace slag greatly reduce the rapid chloride permeability of concrete. It was concluded that pozzolans are more effective to reduce chloride permeability of concrete.
This study has been carried out to investigate the effect of the surface properties of Portland cement, diatomite and zeolite on the performance of concrete composites. In this context, to describe the materials used in this study and determine the properties of them, chemical, physical, mineralogical, molecular, thermal, and zeta potential analysis have been applied. In the study, reference (Portland cement), 10%-20% diatomite, 10%-20% zeolite, 5+5%-10+10% diatomite and zeolite were substituted for Portland cement, a total of 7 different cements were obtained. Ultrasonic pulse velocity, capillary water absorption and compressive strength tests were performed on the hardened concrete specimens. Hardened concrete tests have been done on seven different types of concrete, for 28, 56 and 90 days. As a result of experiments it has been identified that both the zeolite and diatomite substitution has a positive effect on the performance of concrete.
This paper investigated the effect of W/C and the kinds of cement on the chloride invasion resistance of the offshore concrete. W/C set up 0.30, 0.35, 0.40 and The kinds of cement were used four(ordinary portland cement, ground granulated blast-furnace slag cement, belite cement, low heat portland cement). For the electrical migration test, NT BUILD 492's method was used to estimate the migration coefficient of chloride ion. As a result, the migration coefficients of chloride ion of concrete according to w/c were shown reducing with the w/c increasing, and according to kinds of cement were shown discrepancy in chloride invasion resistance. Especially blast-furnace slag cement was most low it. In the each cement, the compressive strength was shown related to the migration coefficient.
This study is performed to evalute experimentally the nondestructive properties on the concrete that is treated with crushed oyster shell powder of 0.15m or smaller in diameter. The ultrsonic pulse velocity of crushed oyster shell concrete(COSC) is in the range of 4.110-4.267m/s, and the dynamic modulus of elasticity of COSC range from 288$\times$10$^3$ to 318 $\times$10$^3$kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$. The ultrasonic pulse velocity and dynamic modulus of elasticity are similar to those of normal portland cement concrete. The highest ultrasonic pulse velocity and dynamic modulus of COSC are measured at the 2.5% addition rate by weight of crushed oyster shell powder. The acid-resistance in increased of the content of crushed oyster shell powder. The acid-resistance of COSC with 15% addition rate by weight of crushed oyster shell power is 1.6 times greater than that of normal portland cement concrete. It is concluded that the addition of crushed oyster shell powder to normal portland cement concrete contributed to improve the nondestructive properties of concrete.
Remediation grouting has been widely used for the rehabilitation of various civil works like hydraulic and traffic structures. Recently there were some cases of remediation grouting for repairing old dams in korea. So this study will describe the case of remediation grouting of the concrete dam base located east-northern part of Seoul. We use Lugeon Test and Borehole Image Processing System(BIPS) for estimating the effectiveness of remediation grouting of this project. As the results of this study, we could find the lots of joints between the old concrete body and the weathered rock base. So the about 30% quantity of total cement grouts was injected at the boundary surface between concrete and rock base. And Lugeon Test and BIPS could be compared relatively because BIPS results could be presented quantitatively as well as qualitative analysis. Finally, we could find microfine cement was very effectively injected to the fine fissured concrete body compared with ordinary portland cement, but there was little injectability differences beteween microfine cement and ordinary portland cement at the large cracks or cavities were developed rock base.
Impact experiments have been carried out on concrete slabs. The first group was traditionally manufactured, densely reinforced concrete targets, and the next were ordinary Portland and calcium aluminate cement based HPSFRC (High performance steel fiber reinforced concrete) and SIFCON (Slurry infiltrated concrete) targets. All specimens were hit by anti-armor tungsten projectiles at a muzzle velocity of over 4 Mach causing destructive perforation. In Part I of this article, production and experimental procedures are described. The first group of specimens were ordinary CEM I 42.5 R cement based targets including only dense reinforcement. In the second and third groups, specimens were produced using CEM I 42.5 R cement and Calcium Aluminate Cement (CAC40) with ordinary reinforcement and steel fibers 2 percent in volume. In the fourth group, SIFCON specimens including 12 percent of steel fibers without reinforcement were tested. A high-speed camera was used to capture impact and residual velocities of the projectile. Sample tests were performed to obtain mechanical properties of the materials. In the companion Part II of this study, numerical investigations and simulations performed will be presented. Few studies exist that examine high-velocity impact effects on CAC40 based HPSFRC targets, so this investigation gives an insight for comparison of their behavior with Portland cement based and SIFCON specimens.
Strength development of low heat portland cement(Type IV) concrete according of addition of fly-ash in high strength range is tested. In this study strength development according to water-binder ratio, strength development according to age, effect of fly ash are tested. This study tests effect of low heat portland cement in high strength range concrete and provide guide line concrete mix design for later study and construction.
