A Pipelined 60Ms/s 8-bit Analog to Digital Converter (8-bit 60Ms/s 파이프라인 아날로그 디지털 변환기)

  • This paper introduces the design of high-speed analog- to-digital converter for high-definition TV, camcorders, portable equipments and implemented in a 0.65${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS technology. Key circuits developed for low power and high speed A/D converter are a dynamic comparator that consumes no static power, a source follower buffered op amp that achives wide bandwidth using large input devices. The converter achieves low power dissipation of 40-mW at 3.3-V power supply. Measured performance includes 0.53 LSB of INL and 0.48 LSB of DNL while sampling at 60MHz.

  • A power line communications, power, the outgoing line is a means of communication.   • In this paper, an 8bit CMOS low power, high-speed current-mode folding and interpolation A/D converter is designed with te LG semicon $0.8\mu\textrm{m}$ N-well single-poly/double-metal CMOS process to be integrated into a portable image signal processing system such as a digital camcoder. For good linearity and low power consumption, folding amplifiers and for high speed performance of the A/D converter, analog circuitries including folding block, current-mode interpolation circuit and current comparator are designed as a differential-mode. The fabricated 8 bit A/D converter occupies the active chip area of TEX>$2.2mm \times 1.6mm$ and shows DNL of $\pm0.2LSB$, INL of <$\pm0.5LSB$, conversion rate of 40M samples/s, and the measured maximum power dissipation of 33.6mW at single +5V supply voltage.

  • The conventional 3D graphic accelerator is mainly focused on high performance in the application area of computer graphic and 3D video game How ever the existing 3D architecture is not suitable for portable devices because of its huge power. So, we analyze the embedded 3D graphics renderer. After the analyzing, to reduce the power, triangle set-up stage and edge walking stage are executed sequentially while scan-line processing stage and span processing stage which control performance of 3D graphic accelerator are executed parallel.

  • The AC-DC Adapter has been widely used in Mobile Phones, Note Book PC, LCD monitors, and portable electronic products. Recently, high-power-density Adapter was developed. This adapter increases power factor using a bridge diode rectifier and PFC, however, there are weak points that improving efficiency is limited. In the bridgeless rectifier circuit proposed in this paper, there is no PFC, however, the power factor and efficiency are improved by BCM and ZCS operations.

  • HFPD(High Frequency Partial Discharge) measurement has been widely performed to diagnosis of cable system in the world although Korea just begin. The efficiency of measurement has been reported and proved by many researchers who are engaged in the diagnosis of high power apparatus. LG Cable has investigated the technology of diagnosis for cable system by means of PD measurement for 10 years. In this paper, PD measurement with portable device was performed to evaluate the quality of the 154kV transmission line and the 22.9kV XLPE cable line. Test results are shown that the HFPD detection technology is very attractive for the diagnosis of power cable system by high detection sensitivity at on-site.

  • 본 논문에서는 150W급 휴대용 연료전지 Power pack의 사양을 고려한 최적 설계과정을 제시하고, 제작된 시작품을 이용하여 제안된 모드전환 제어 알고리즘을 검증한다. 연료전지, 배터리 및 부하의 상태를 가정하여, 다양한 시나리오에 따른 운전모드 변경 시, 출력전압 제어 성능을 확인한다. 또한, 전부하 영역에서 시스템 효율을 측정하여 효율 성능을 확인한다.

  • Batteries are widely used for energy storage, such as ESS(Energy Storage System), electric vehicles, electric aircraft, and electric powered ships. Among them, a submarine uses a high power battery for an energy storage. When the battery of a submarine is discharged, a diesel generator generates AC power, and then AC/DC power converter change AC power to DC power for charging the battery. Therefore, in order to lower the current capacity of the diesel generator, it is necessary to use an AC/DC converter with a high input power factor. And, a power converter with a large power capacity must have high stability because it can lead to a major accident when a failure occurs. However, the control algorithm using the traditional PI controller is difficult to satisfy stability and dynamic characteristics. In this paper, we design the high power AC/DC converter with high input power factor for battery charging systems. And, we propose a stable control algorithm. The validity of the proposed method is verified through simulation and experiments.

Real-time and Power Hardware-in-the-loop Simulation of PEM Fuel Cell Stack System

  • Polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cell is one of the popular renewable energy sources and widely used in commercial medium power areas from portable electronic devices to electric vehicles. In addition, the increased integration of the PEM fuel cell with power electronics, dynamic loads, and control systems requires accurate electrical models and simulation methods to emulate their electrical behaviors. Advancement in parallel computation techniques, various real-time simulation tools, and smart power hardware have allowed the prototyping of novel apparatus to be investigated in a virtual system under a wide range of realistic conditions repeatedly, safely, and economically. This paper builds up advancements of optimized model constructions for a fuel cell stack system on a real-time simulator in the view points of improving dynamic model accuracy and boosting computation speed. In addition, several considerations for a power hardware-in-the-loop (PHIL) simulation are provided to electrically emulate the PEM fuel cell stack system with power facilities. The effectiveness of the proposed PHIL simulation method developed on Opal RT's RT-Lab Matlab/Simulink based real-time engineering simulator and a programmable power supply is verified using experimental results of the proposed PHIL simulation system with a Ballard Nexa fuel cell stack.

Triple-band Multiplexer for a Low Power Portable Base Station (이동통신 기지국용 삼중대역 멀티플렉서)

  • In this paper, a triple-band multiplexer using a microstrip transmission line was designed and fabricated to make use of a low power portable base station. This multiplexer was used in the triple-band including the cellular, WCDMA and LTE mobile frequency band, and designed to have an insertion loss of 0.8 dB, low SWR of 1.5 in the passband and a band rejection of 15 dB in the stopband. From the measured results obtained by a confidence test for the fabricated multiplexer samples, the maximum insertion loss and SWR of the fabricated multiplexer samples in all passbands of 824-894MHz, 1920-2170 MHz and 2500-2600 MHz were below 0.71 dB and 1.38, and the attenuations in the stopbands were better than 15 dB. Therefore, the triple-band multiplexer has good performance and satisfies the design specifications.
