Nowadays, wireless packet data services are provided over cdma2000 1x/1xEV-DO mobile communication network and Portable Internet are being standardized for users demanding higher data rate services. Portable Internet can provide high data rate services, but its service coverage is relatively small. If Portable Internet may be integrated with cdma2000 mobile networks, users are able to choose the best service according to service areas and get seamless services while they are moving around. At the same time, it is cost-effective for operators to construct and maintain the integrated network. For the purpose of effectively integrating Portable Internet into cdma2000 networks, we propose an integration scheme including network architecture, protocol architecture, functions in network elements, interfaces between them, and call-flow procedures. The integration scheme proposed in this paper adopts a tightly-coupled architecture for unified authentication/accounting and seamless services. In addition, the scheme can be implemented without modifying the existing cdma2000 mobile communication networks. It is also simple to develop the dual-mode mobile station. Through the simulation results based on the performance model for handoffs between cdma2000 and Portable Internet, it has teen validated that the proposed scheme diminishes packet losses compared with the loosely-coupled architecture.

Portable Internet extended from wireless LAN has a large cell size, similar to a wireless mobile communication, and can provides the seamless service which offers middle-low speed mobility. IEEE 802.16e, the international standard of Portable Internet, uses PKMv2(Privacy Key Management) protocol for authorization and key exchange between a MSS(Mobile Subscriber Station) and a BS(Base Station). This paper first reviews and studies overall security architecture of TTA HPi standard and IEEE 802.16e which supports mobility based on WMAN(Wireless Metropolitan Area Network) standard(IEEE 802.16)

In this research, we have developed a model that can explain the potential customer's needs for the potable Internet service, a concept with 'QoS guaranteed lower-price high speed mobile Internet service. Based on the developed model, we have also derived some empirical implications for the business firms interest in the potable Internet market. The developed model is incorporating a survey result, answering of potential customer's attitude for the portable Internet service, from the subscribers to the Internet service, wireless LAN service, and mobile Internet service. As a result, we have found that a very innovative group, such as wireless LAN users and 20's age group using mobile Internet service, could be the most attractive market segment. Moreover, the aspects of the service coverage and the price competitiveness at the service launching stage could be the most critical success factors for the portable Internet service.

High-speed Portable Internet system provides 1-3 Mbps data transmission speed to terminals moving up to 60 km/sec. Since High-speed Portable Internet system supports services requiring different QoS, it needs an efficient scheduling method based on those different QoSs. This paper shows the performance comparisons of several different packet scheduling schemes for minimizing the mean delay over the downlink of High-speed Portable Internet system to support the packet data service. Simulation results show that proposed scheme superior to other schemes at side throughput and data loss rate.

In High-speed Portable Internet system to improve performance of whole system, adaptive modulation and coding technology is used, this technology changes modulation and encoding techniques depending on wireless channel environment. Modulation technology that is used in High-speed Portable Internet system is BPSK, QPSK, 16QAMs and 64QAMs. If terminal is distant from base station transceiver system, BPSK or QPSK technology Is used and 16QAMs or 64QAM technology is used if is near in the base station transceiver system. In this paper, number of sub-channel in each modulation technology minimized total transmitting number of PDU is analyzed for efficient radio resources usage. For this, simulation is conducted and the results are presented at High-speed Portable Internet system environments.

In this thesis, we analyze performance related to reduction scheme of inter-cell interference causing serious problems in portable internet system. Frequency reusing factor(FUF) is 1 in portable internet system, and it means that a adjacent cell uses same frequency band. This channel environment raises inter-cell interference problem, which provokes serious problems related to system performance and channel capacity. Consequently, it affects deterioration in system performance as a whole. This research is to substantially analyze the economic value of portable Internet (WiBro), WCDMA High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA), WiBro+VoIP, and WiBro+DMB regarded as the next generation of broadcasting. Based on the empirical analysis of economic values, we provide the optimal paths of converged communications and broadcasting services related to WiBro. 1,000 Internet users in the Seoul and Gyeonggi areas were surveyed in their homes. The collected survey was calculated as an accurate economic value distribution for relevant services, and the average and mean were taken using a parametric logit model, semi-parametric Spike model, and nonparametric Turnbull and Kernel estimations in order to analyze the contingent economic value of the amount offered to the subjects of the analysis. The contingent value analysis results varied slightly according to the different methodologies; however, all showed the following common features. The economic value of WiBro, Internet-based WCDMA, VoIP, and DMB with WiBro appeared to be similar. Therefore, if WiBro and WCDMA (HSDPA) form a competitive relationship, the types of bundled services offered as portable Internet service and the supply point of such bundled services are expected to emerge in a strategic plan for stimulating service markets and the prior occupation of the market.

In this paper, we designed a portable ECG Recorder which can transmit collected ECG data using wire and wireless communication network. The portable ECG recorder is characterized by the small-sized and the low-power consumption. The ECG data is transmitted to a hospital using internet or PSTN. We designed the protocol in order to transmit safely The portable ECG recording system will contribute largely to telemedicine for a cardiac patient.

This paper explains a new design and Implementation of an efficient portable braille point system for visually Impaired person, The information systems for the visually impaired persons require efficiently designed devices, tools and accessibility to use the devices, and education support. These three conditions are the basic requirements of designing systems for the visually impaired persons, The system proposed in this paper satisfies the above three conditions. The system converts data and web documents between the braille and Hangul using an algorithm stored in a PC, and transfers the converted data to portable devices. And the portable braille device presents the transferred data in an electromagnetic way.

초고속 유선 인터넷 서비스의 성숙된 시장환경에서 이동중에도 인터넷 서비스를 제공 받으려는 사용자의요구가 증가되고 있으며, 이러한 요구를 수용하기 위한 기술로서 휴대인터넷이 주목 받고 있다. 본 고에서는 휴대 인터넷의 표준화 동향을 중심으로 서비스 실현을 위해 고려되어야 하는 요소기술과 연구개발이 진행되고 있는 외국의 휴대인터넷 기술사례에 대하여 살펴보고, 한국전자통신연구원과 통신업체(제조업체 및 통신사업자)들이 협력하여 연구 개발중인 초고속 휴대인터넷(High-Speed Portable Internet: HPi) 시스템의 구조 및 기능을 중심으로 기술한다.
