  • This study aims to inform seafarers to prepare their retired life by researching the life style of ex-seafarers. These information will also help seafarers to increase job satisfaction and government to establish national policy. 217 retirees who have several educational background responded the research questionnaire. Research results are as follows; First, Korean seafarers' retired ages are faster than shore employee due to the isolation from their families and society. Second, life satisfaction of retired seafarers depends on the level of life expenses regardless the educational background or length of sea life. Third, the level of retired life expenses of shore based, higher education background or short sea-life seafarers is higher than the sea based, lower education background or long sea-life seafarers. Forth, life style of retired seafarers is staying at home regardless their expectation during career period. Finally special seafarers' social security is needed and education to the ex-seafarers will help re-enter for sea-life.

  • The importance of the GPS is becoming larger and larger since it is one of the Global Navigation Satellite Systems and is regarded as a national infrastructure in the field positioning and timing Nowadays many researches avoiding and/or minimizing economic loss caused by unexpected fault of the GPS are being carried out because GPS fault can give a large impact on social security system as well as economic system NDGPS network which has been authorized by the Ministry of Marine and Fisheries provides services for marine users and evolved into a national infrastructure for GNSS users. Many researchers and engineers are doing research work in order to apply the NDGPS network to other fields. From this trend, it can be expected that the integrity and related functions for the NDGPS users will become more important than before. This paper analyzes integrity informations about the real GNSS fault and proposes method on integrity monitoring improvement of the DGPS reference station.

  • The development and operation of the MASS (Maritime Autonomous Surface Ship) is being actively discussed for more efficient and safer maritime transportation solutions. The autonomous navigation technology has positive aspects such as the prevention of marine accidents, improvement of fuel efficiency of ships and cost reduction, and negative aspects such as job loss, task change, and security problems. It is expected that there will be new human element issues such as the situation awareness of remote operators, because the shore-based control will be conducted when fully autonomous ships are in operation. In this paper, we consider major human element issues that should be factored in the development and operation of MASS, and suggest a method of HRA (Human Reliability Analysis) for P IFs (Performance Influencing Factors) of the remote operators that are expected according to the shore-based control.

  • VTS operators may suffer from acute, chronic, or traumatic stress caused by their workload and working environments associated with task or combination of task. This study intended to measure the level of VTS operator' stress and find out factors influencing it by understanding their characteristics during carrying out their task. For this purpose, analyzed the data collected through conducting survey on VTS operators as the Korea Occupational Stress(KOSS) and Psychological Well-being Index(PWI). As a result, VTS operators are experiencing higher level of psychological stress than the national average. And the factors to cause VTS operators' occupational stress can be summarized as follows; working environment factors, shift work especially night duty, workload, etc. This study provides the fundamental information for understanding human factors of VTS operator' occupational stress.

We used a tool aggressive actual DoS You install the N-IDS which used Snort in networks in order to detect a DoS attack. Storages of Winpcap and a packet to detect a packet and MySQL, HSC, to analyze. We install NET Framework etc. E-Watch etc. analyzes Packet regarding a DoS attack of a hacker and TCP, UDP etc. information, Port, MAC and IP information etc. through packet analysis tools. There is a meaning you analyze data regarding the cyber DoS, DDoS attack that is dysfunction of Ubiquitous Information Society, and it generates forensics data regarding an invader and back-tracking analysis data, and to ensure safe Internet information system through this paper study.

  • A marine accident is caused various legal liability such as compensation for damages on civil law, responsibility on the Criminal Code and administrative sanctions. The results occurred by any acts is not connected directly to the legal responsibility. As a prior condition for these legal liabilities, it is required the causation between the act caused and the occurrence of the effect. It is very difficult to find out the cause in marine accidents, because of trouble of a proof security, the place occurred, time difference between accident and investigation point of time etc.. However, finding out the correct cause is an element important to prevent similar accident and to determine the liability reverted. The logical concept of the causation is not limited, but there is early necessity to limit it in the liability reverted. Therefore, this study aims to suggest reasonable standard to determine liability reverted in marine accidents.

  • Since many years ago and in spite of the existence of national regulations and international conventions ratified by the countries that are conformed the Central American Region (CAR), the seagoing maritime sector of this Region, has developed its activity without any type of safety measures. Therefore, a large number of people are known to die, disappear and suffer from serious injuries each year. These maritime casualties devastate the families affected by these events, and severely impact the local social and economic well-being. While all these accidents occurred in this Region, non government or any other official records are available recording these casualties Due to the lack of any historical written reports about maritime casualties occurred in this Region, the compilation of this type of accidents information and data was carried out directly by the researchers in the field. Also, all the information about the CAR Maritime Organization Components was too compiled by the authors from the respective National Maritimes Authorities. From the compiled information was elaborated the CAR maritime casualties data base and from the analysis of the above data base were determined the main causes of the maritime accidents occurred in the CAR. The lack of safety measures onboard and the ignorance of the presence and influence of atmospheric phenomena were among main factors that had been caused the maritime casualties in this Region. By other hand, from the analysis of the CAR maritime organization components, the existence of one level of organization very similar among them was determinate. The objective of this research was to analyze the role of the CAR maritime organization in the prevention of the occurrence of maritime casualties. The results of this study provides general understanding of the causes of this type of accidents in the CAR and basis for support in improving safety navigation system and measures so that the number of fatalities and maritime accidents may be reduced in the future.

  • Recently, renewed attention for technological applications within the maritime industry has taken place, particularly regarding unmanned vessels. There has been a lot of interest about the number of projects aiming at testing the operational feasibility of unmanned vessels, particularly in relation to technological, safety and security issues. Nevertheless, no studies have investigated this issue from the point of view of seafarers towards unmanned vessels; this paper aims at filling this gap. Data has been collected through a survey questionnaire. A Pearson correlational coefficient has been used to test the correlation between some of the variables. The results show that more than half of the respondents indicated that unmanned vessels do not contribute to an increase in accidents at sea. In addition, seafarers believe unmanned vessels will not be operational in the near future, with most of the respondents indicating a 10-20 year time frame. Thirdly, most of the respondents(both officers and ratings).
