펨토초 레이저를 이용한 폴리머 박막 재료 초미세 공정에 관한 연구 (Investigation on Femtosecond Laser Processing of Polymeric Thin Films)

  • Two-photon absorption coefficient of a series of dyes in polymer thin films was determined by measuring the femtosecond laser ablation threshold. The threshold value of polymeric thin films decreased gradually when the dopant increased. The two-photon absorption coefficient of the dye molecules dispersed in the polymer film was estimated by using the theoretical relationship between the ablation threshold of the blended polymeric thin films and the dye concentration. The relative values of two-photon absorption cross-section are in good agreement with those measured in solution. On the other hand, the absolute values are smaller than the latter.

산소분압의 변화에 따른 ITO/polymeric 박막의 특성 (Characteristics of ITO/polymeric Films with Change of Oxygen Partial Pressure)

  • Transparent conducting indium tin oxide (TC-ITO) thin films on polymeric substrates have been deposited by a dc reactive magnetron sputtering without heat treatments. The polymeric substrates are acryl (AC), poly carbornate (PC), and polyethlene terephthalate (PET) as well as soda lime glass is also used to compare with the polymeric substrates. Sputtering parameters are an important factor for high quality of TC-ITO thin films prepared on polymeric substrates. Furthermore, the material, electrical and optical properties of as-deposited ITO films are dominated by the ratio of oxygen partial pressure. As the experimental results, the surface roughness of ITO films becomes rough as the oxygen partial pressure increases. The electrical resistivity of as-deposited ITO films decreases initially, and then increases with the increase of oxygen partial pressure. The optical transmittance at visible wavelength for all polymeric substrates is above 82 %.

  • Indium tin oxide (ITO) thin films on polymeric substrates such as acryl (AC), Poly carbornate (PC), polypropylene (PP), and polyethlene terephthalate (PET) have been deposited by a do reactive magnetron sputtering without heat treatments.   • Nanotribological characteristics between a Si$_3$N$_4$ AFM tip and hydrophobic thin films were experimentally studied. Tests were performed to measure the nano adhesion and friction in both AFM (atomic force microscope) and LFM (lateral force microscope) modes in various .ranges of normal load. Plasma-modified thin polymeric films were deposited on Si-wafer (100). Results showed that wetting angle of plasma-modified thin polymeric film increased with the treating time, which resulted in the hydrophobic surface and the decrease of adhesion and friction. Nanotribological characteristics of these surfaces were compared with those of other hydrophobic surfaces, such as DLC, OTS and IBAD-Ag coated surfaces. Those of OTS coated surface were superior to those of others, though wetting angle of plasma-modified thin polymeric film is higher.

A Composite of Metal and Polymer Films: Thin Nickel Film Coated on a Polypropylene Film after Atmospheric Plasma Induced Surface Modification

  • Polymeric films of high chemical stability and mechanical strength covered with a thin metallic film have been extensively used in various fields as electric and electronic materials. In this study, we have chosen polypropylene (PP) as the polymer due to its outstanding chemical resistance and good creep resistance. We coated thin nickel film on PP films by the electroless plating process. The surfaces of PP films were pre-treated and modified to increase the adhesion strength of metal layer on PP films, prior to the plating process, by an environment-friendly process with atmospheric plasma generated using dielectric barrier discharges in air. The surface morphologies of the PP films were observed before and after the surface modification process using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The static contact angles were measured with deionized water droplets. The cross-sectional images of the PP films coated with thin metal film were taken with SEM to see the combined state between metallic and PP films. The adhesion strength of the metallic thin films on the PP films was confirmed by the thermal shock test and the cross-cutting and peel test. In conclusion, we made a composite material of metallic and polymeric films of high adhesion strength.

Control of Wettability Using Regularly Ordered Two-Dimensional Polymeric Wavy Substrates

  • Two-dimensional poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) films with wavy patterns were studied in order to investigate reversible and irreversible wetting effects. Pre-strained, surface oxidized layers of PDMS were used to form relieved wavy geometries, on which hydrophobic functionalization was carried out in order to produce irreversible wetting effects. Wavy-patterned PDMS films showed time-dependent reversible wetting effects. The degree of surface wettability could be tuned by the choice of wavy groove geometries. And the groove geometries were controlled via $O_2$ plasma treatment and mechanical pre-straining. The pre-strained, buckled PDMS films were applied to the fabrication of hydrophobic polystyrene nano-patterns using colloidal self-assembly, where the colloids were arrayed in two-dimensional way. The wavy polystyrene films were found to be more hydrophobic relative to flat polystyrene films. The grooving methodology used in this study could be applied to enhancing the hydrophobicity of other types of polymeric thin films, eliminating the need for chemical treatment.

Characteristic and moisture permeability of SiOxCy thin film synthesized by Atmospheric pressure-plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition

  • Atmospheric pressure- plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition(AP-PECVD)Processes are recognized as promising and cost effective methods for wide-area coating on sheets of steel, glass, polymeric web, etc. In this study, $SiO_xC_y$ thin films were deposited by using AP-PECVD with a dielectric barrier discharge(DBD). The characteristic of $SiO_xC_y$ thin films were investigated as afunction of the HMDSO/O2/He flow rate. And the moisture permeability of $SiO_xC_y$ thin films was studied. The $SiO_xC_y$ thin films were characterized by the Fourier-transformed Infrared(FT-IR) spectroscopy and also investigated by X-ray photo electron spectroscopy(XPS), Auger Electron Spectroscopy(AES). The moisture permeability of $SiO_xC_y$ thin films was investigated by $H_2O$ permeability tester Detailed experimental results will be demonstrated through th present work.

증착조건에 따른 극미세 다이아몬드상 카본 박막의 탄성률 변화거동 (A variation of elastic modulus of very thin diamond-like carbon films with deposition condition)

  • 증착 조건에 따라 나타나는 폴리머상, 경질, 흑연상의 다이아몬드상 카본(DLC) 박막에서 두께 감소에 따른 탄성률의 변화거동을 구조적인 관점에서 살펴보았다. 실험에 사용된 박막은 r.f.-PACVD 장비를 이용하여 증착하였으며, 반응 가스로는 벤젠과 메탄을 사용하였다. 기판을 식각 과정을 통해 완전히 제거시켜 주기 때문에 다른 방법들과는 달리 기판의 영향 없이 박막만의 탄성률을 정확히 측정할 수 있는 free overhang 방법을 이용하여 DLC 박막의 biaxial elastic modulus를 측정하였다. 또한 Raman 분석을 이용하여 박막의 구조를 조사하였다. 박막이 폴리머상 혹은 흑연상인 경우 두께가 감소함에 따라 탄성률이 감소하는 것을 확인하였고, Ramanm spectrum의 G-peak 위치를 분석한 결과 그 원인은 폴리머상인 경우 증착 초기에 낮은 물성을 가지는 폴리머상의 박막이 형성되기 때문이며, 흑연상인 경우 증착 초기에 낮은 물성을 가지는 흑연상의 박막이 증착되기 때문이다. 반면에 경질의 박막에서는 두께에 상관없이 일정한 탄성률을 가지고 있었으며, 두께에 따른 박막의 구조적인 변화도 관찰되지 않았다.

  • ITO (indium tin oxide) thin films on PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and glass substrates have been deposited by a dc magnetron sputtering without heat treatments such as substrate heater and post heat treatment. Each sputtering parameter during the sputtering deposition is an important factor for the high quality of ITO thin films deposited on polymeric substrate. Particularly, the material, electrical and optical properties of as-deposited ITO oxide films are dominated by sputtering power, oxygen partial pressure and films thickness. As the experimental results, the XRD patters of ITO films are influenced by sputtering power and pressure. As the power and pressure are increased, (411) peak is grown suddenly. the electrical resistivity is also increased, as the sputteing power and pressure are increased. Transmittance of ITO thin films in visible light ranges is lowered with increasing the sputtering power and film thickness. Reflectance of ITO films in infia-red region is decreased, as the power and pressure is increased.
