Psychosocial Risks: Is Risk Management Strategic Enough in Business and Policy Making?

  • Background: In times of continuous change and volatile markets, organizations are increasingly characterized by downsizing, work intensification, and resource rationalization. This has resulted in diversification, and the emergence of newrisks within the field of occupational health and safety, with an important impact. This paper focuses on one such type of risk in the modern workplace-psychosocial risks. The current study aimed to explore stakeholder perspectives, regarding the extent to which psychosocial risks are incorporated into strategic risk management practices, at both the business and policy level. Methods: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 14 professionals, representing employer, expert, policy maker, and trade union stakeholder perspectives. Results: It was found that the majority of organizations do not sufficiently, if at all, understand and incorporate psychosocial risks into strategic decision making, whereby the key barrier related to practical difficulties of not knowing how to manage psychosocial risks adequately. Conclusion: The study found that there is a need to close the gap between policy and practice on a number of levels. Future recommendations comprise a policy framework and infrastructure underpinned by educational initiatives, partnerships, and networks to drive a shift in attitudes toward recognizing the duality of the concept of risk (including both potential negative and positive outcomes) and moving beyond simple regulatory compliance.

Effect of Liquidity, Profitability, Leverage, and Firm Size on Dividend Policy

  • This study aims to investigate the relationship between the variables of Current Ratio (CR), Return-on-Equity (ROE), Return-on-Assets (ROA), Debt-to-Equity Ratio (DER), and Firm Size (FS) on Dividend Policy (DP) in real estate and property companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in the period 2016-2019, looking at nine real estate companies in Indonesia. The research methodology uses an explanatory analysis approach and linear regression. Based on the eligibility and homogeneity of the data, the number of sample companies selected was nine companies. The company's financial statement data derived from primary data obtained on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, such as current ratio (CR), return-on-equity (ROE), return-on-assets (ROA), debt-to-equity ratio (DER) and firm size and dividend policy variables. The data analysis procedure is first to transform financial data from the original ratio data into interval data and, then, transform it to ordinal data. Furthermore, the validity and reliability process are ignored because the data is primary. Finally, regression testing is part of the hypothesis testing stage. The results of this study showed that the CR, ROE, and firm size had no positive and significant effect on dividend policy. In contrast, DER and ROA have a positive and significant impact on dividend policy.

The Influence of Wage Satisfaction and Personnel Management Policy on the Hotel Employees' Organizational Commitment and Job Satisfaction (호텔 종사원의 임금 만족 및 인사 공정성이 직무 만족과 조직 몰입에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the influence of wage satisfaction and personnel management policy on hotel employees 'organizational commitment and job satisfaction in Korean hotels. In the standpoint of management, almost all hotels seek to meet their employees' satisfaction whether they try to or not. The survey was performed on hotel employees in Seoul and 231 sheets are returned out of 300 sheets. This study use SPSS for WIN 12.0 and AMOS 4.0 to analyze the hypotheses. There are several prerequisites for employees' job satisfaction according to researches and theories. The main factors for employees' job satis-faction are drawn by the prior researches on wage satisfaction and personnel management policy. Then job satisfaction and organizational commitment are extracted to study how the two factors are affected. As a result, the satisfaction with wages affects job satisfaction not significantly. Followed by the results, the effects of the organizational commitment on the job satisfaction and the job satisfaction on personnel management policy were shown significantly. Based on the results, this study will give a suggestion that to get the organizational commitment from employees through job satisfaction, hotels should apply fair personnel management policy to their employees.

  • Science & Technology(S&T) is the most important thing to attain competitiveness in the 21st century. Our traditional S&T policies have been forcused on hardware infra structure. We should consider software of S&T to enhance effectiveness. S&T Should be had a correct understanding method of the creation for S&T culture. It implies that S&T policy should consider nonmaterial factors which include social, environmental and culture. Under this background, The purpose of this paper is to seek new S&T policy. Therefor this paper deals with how we can prepare for the future S&T policy and classify the change of S&T policy of korea. In addition, Recent construction sector integration and fusion technologies in various areas of research and planning system is being maintained by the system. Past experience of conservative management in this emerging technology-driven technology commercialization in management of technology through the convergence of various technologies and to find synergies to secure the future of construction technology because it is a need.

A Study on the Recognition and Policy Direction of Welfare Service for the Disabled - Focusing on D-County -

  • This study is a study on the recognition and policy direction of welfare service for the disabled. For this, it aims to draw implications about the policy direction of welfare service for the disabled using basic investigation of welfare for the disabled among $2^{nd}$, $3^{rd}$ community social welfare plans of Jeollanam-do. As study results, it was analysed that the demand of welfare service for the disabled is increasing from providing the past livelihood such as establishing the foundation for basic livelihood to customized welfare service such as supplying jobs for enhancing the quality of life of the disabled. That is judged to be caused by needs for human's basic rights according to economic development and improvement in income level, and it will be appropriate to set up the software-focused policy for the disabled individuals rather than to set up the hardware-focused policy like the past. Despite the implications like these, however, this study has limitation that its subject is restricted to D-gun, so henceforth it needs to draw more general conclusions through comprehensive research about more extensive regions.

  • In this paper, we studied a policy direction for promoting wireless industry. For this, we defined the concept of wireless industry and classified their structure and suggested a growth model of wireless industry and policy elements, which is composed of technology development, service development, advancement of law and regulations, business model development, assistance of production and use, publicity enforcement for promotion. Also, we had a survey on the policy elements for promoting the industry by experts interview. We drew some policy directions for promotion of wireless industry from survey results.

  • The purpose of this study is to present the price computation criteria with the aspect of price policy for the geographical information circulation. The price policy is to make activated circulation for geographical information. The price policy of this research considered the supplier and the user side at the same time. Important issue of price policy is that initial cost for system development calculate burying cost, and preservation and renewal cost charge to user. Distribution cost of geographical information charge to user according to use media, and apply differential rates of cost according to the purpose of using, up-to-dateness of data. Also, present the price policy that must apply copyright fee to of offer geographical information. Consider various terms that was studied in this study, the price computation criteria was presented. Through this, it is expected that geographical information circulation is activated more.

Learning from Benchmarking: A Comparison of Iranian and Korean Foresight Exercises

  • What are some of the explanations for cross-national diversity of foresight performance among technological followers? Why are some countries more successful than others in learning how to develop national innovation system foresight? This paper argues that the answers are linked to organizational capacities at three different levels: governmental, policy network and social learning. To corroborate this argument, the paper chose Iran and Korea as benchmarking partners, and attempts to find out what makes Iran a slow learner in building innovation system foresight. The conceptual model is an improved model of Saritas's, by integrating Borras' and Andersen's conceptions and classifications. The data are collected from comprehensive interviews in both countries and second-hand data of international indexes. The paper, finally, concludes that it is the weakness of analytical-systemic capacity that impedes and delays the emergence of systemic foresight in Iran, and that this weakness stems from the adverse impacts of the dominant institutions, surrounding the innovation system. The final point is that it is not sufficient for Iran to learn the methods and techniques of foresight from Korea. It should learn how to open its macro-policy towards the global market and design appropriate industrial strategy in a coherent policy-strategy portfolio.

  • In December 2017, the Moon Jae-in administration announced a major policy shift away from nuclear and coal, committing itself to the vision of creating a society where renewable sources account for 20% of its electricity generation by 2030. This energy transition involves not just a technical transition from conventional energy sources to renewable energy but also active participation of multiple stakeholders in the energy governance. While energy policy making has long been dominated by the central government in Korea with the aim of managing the supply for rapid industrialization and economic growth, the Moon administration aims to diffuse the central government's authority across various actors in society. Among those actors, this study focuses on the roles that local governments play in energy transition. Despite deepening local autonomy since 1995, Korean local governments have remained policy targets or recipients in the energy policy domain. This article discusses how such a traditional role has evolved under the new administration's energy transition policy and examines what challenges and limitations local governments face in creating a more decentralized energy governance system.

Analysis of Efficacy of The National Scholarship System and Policy Suggestions (국가장학금의 효과성 분석과 개선방안에 대한 고찰)

  • This study analyzes whether the national scholarship system achieves the policy goal to provide the half-tuition and suggests ways to improve the policy. The study finds that the national scholarship system provides free education for students from under 2nd decile income and the half-tuition for students from under 6th decile. However, since students don't feel fully the effect of the policy, this study proposes policy improvements on new approaches to public communications. Also is suggested the necessity to change the policy tool from debt-like to equity-like investment.
