Analysis of Aging Characteristic using the Switching Current of Electrical Point Machine (선로전환기의 전환전류를 이용한 노화 특성 분석)

  • A point machine requires lots of time and attention in terms of maintenance, since it causes 40% of failures among the railway signaling devices. The senescence of the point machine critically matters to the overall turnout system. In this paper, we analyzed the aging characteristics of the point machine by using the switching current of the point machine. The analysis is done based on the switching current measurements of the point machines deployed in the Sehwa outdoor test site and the Korail Kyongbu line. It is expected that the analysis result can be utilized for real-time diagnosis in the aspect of the maintenance of the point machines and predicting abnormal operations.

  • Existing PoS (Point of Sale) based payment frameworks are vulnerable as the Payment Application's integrity in the smart phone and PoS are compromised, vulnerable to reverse engineering attacks. In addition to these existing PoS (Point of Sale) based payment frameworks do not perform point-to-point encryption and do not ensure communication security. We propose a Smart and Secure PoS (SSPoS) Framework which overcomes these attacks. Our proposed SSPoS framework ensures point-to-point encryption (P2PE), Application hardening and Application wrapping. SSPoS framework overcomes repackaging attacks. SSPoS framework has very less communication and computation cost. SSPoS framework also addresses Heartbleed vulnerability. SSPoS protocol is successfully verified using Burrows-Abadi-Needham (BAN) logic, so it ensures all the security properties. SSPoS is threat modeled and implemented successfully.

  • This paper proposes an algorithm and hardware architecture for a broadcast communication which has the worst bottleneck among multiprocessor using distributed memory architectures. In conventional systems, collective communication is converted into point-to-point communications by MPI library cell without considering the state of communication port of each processing node which represents the processing node is in busy state or free state. If conflicting point-to-point communication occurs during broadcast communication, the transmitting speed for broadcast communication is decreased. Thus, this paper proposed an algorithm which determines the order of point-to-point communications for broadcast communication according to the state of each processing node. According to the state of each processing node, the proposed algorithm decreases total broadcast communication time by transmitting message preferentially to the processing node with communication port in free state. The proposed MPI unit for broadcast communication is evaluated by modeling it with systemC. In addition, it achieved a highly improved performance for broadcast communication up to 78% with 16 nodes. This result shows the proposed algorithm is useful to improving total performance of MPSoC.

  • Point-to-point congestion, a criterion by which service quality in a communication network is estimated, Can be obtained by single moment method of analysis, point-to-point congestion can be computed by link blocking probability in turn is calculated by link offered traffic. Consequently, exact calculation of link offered traffic is vital to analysis of communication network. In this paper a fomula which facilitaties the calculation of link offered traffic in the limited available state of links, is derived.

  • Satellite communication systems will play an important role in establishing high-speed information communication network ddue to the characteristics of flexibility of bandwidth, mobile communication, wide coverage, multipoint and broadcasting. Also satellite systems have the capability to supply terrestrial B-ISDN with flexible links for accessing networks as well as trunking networks. Therefore, satellites must provide compatibility to earth-based B-ISDN signalling interface, services and network capability. This paper proposed interworking model between terrestrial B-ISDN and satellite B-ISDN signalling protocol and illustrated basic call-process procedure of satellite B-ISDN signalling protocol supporting point-to-point and point-to-multipoint connection.

Advanced 360-Degree Integral-Floating Display Using a Hidden Point Removal Operator and a Hexagonal Lens Array

  • An enhanced 360-degree integral-floating three-dimensional display system using a hexagonal lens array and a hidden point removal operator is proposed. Only the visible points of the chosen three-dimensional point cloud model are detected by the hidden point removal operator for each rotating step of the anamorphic optics system, and elemental image arrays are generated for the detected visible points from the corresponding viewpoint. Each elemental image of the elemental image array is generated by a hexagonal grid, due to being captured through a hexagonal lens array. The hidden point removal operator eliminates the overlap problem of points in front and behind, and the hexagonal lens array captures the elemental image arrays with more accurate approximation, so in the end the quality of the displayed image is improved. In an experiment, an anamorphic-optics-system-based 360-degree integral-floating display with improved image quality is demonstrated.

  • Cognitive radios are typically known to exploit vacant spectrum resources in order not to interfere with primary communication systems. However, cognitive radios may not be able to secure a clear spectrum band in a bustling spectrum band. Underlay spectrum sharing provides a way to cope with such a spectrum sharing problem. Cognitive radios share the same spectrum band with the spectrum licensees, i.e., primary users, by adjusting signal transmission power so as not to severely deteriorate the performance of the primary users. We propose an underlay spectrum sharing policy leveraging uplink spectrum resource to be used in a cellular network. A pair of end terminals attempts to establish a direct point-to-point link, and perform as cognitive radios in the sense that they share the uplink radio resource of other primary users. We formulate the transmit power constraints of the cognitive radios and propose a practical uplink band sharing framework. Our simulation results demonstrate that such an uplink sharing underlay direct link can enhance the throughput performance of point-to-point link with low overhead.

  • Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) has been focused on as 4th generation communication method for realization of Ubiquitous Network in land mobile communications services, and has been a standard technology of Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) for a High Date Rate communication. And in maritime data communication using high frequency (HF) band, 32-point FFT OFDM system is recommended by International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Maritime communication should be kept on connecting when maritime accident or the maritime disaster happen. Therefore, main device FFT should be operated with low power consumption. In this paper we propose a low power 32-point FFT algorithm using radix-2 and radix-4 for low power operation. The proposed algorithm was designed using VHSIC hardware description language (VHDL), and it was confirmed that the output value of Spartan-3 field-programmable gate array (FPGA) board corresponded to the output value calculated using Matlab. The proposed 32-point FFT algorithm will be useful as a leading technology in a HF maritime data communication.

  • This paper proposes a compensation method to improve the distorted space vectors when a 3-level Neutral Point Clamped (NPC) inverter has an unbalanced neutral point voltage. Since both the neutral point voltage of the DC link and the space vector of a 3-level NPC inverter are closely related depending on the output load connecting state, a distorted space vector can occur when the neutral point voltage of a 3-level NPC inverter is unbalanced. The proposed method can improve the distorted space vectors by adjusting the injection time of the small and medium vectors and by modulating the amplitude of the carrier waveforms. In this paper, the proposed method is verified by both simulation and experimental results based on a 3-level NPC inverter.

  • In this paper, LAN Access Point is realized by making out bluetooth protocol stack in Linux Kernel, porting Linux in an embeded system employed bluetooth module. Hardware for a general-purpose embeded system is designed and Linux Kernel is ported after deploying Bluetooth Module. Also, Boot loader for system booting and management is composed, and Kernel is modified to meet with the system. Finally, Ethernet devise driver is made out, and bluetooth protocol Stack and Lan Access Point are realized. The possibility of TCP/IP communication through LAN Access Point to PC employed Bluetooth module, which is considered as client, is evaluated. From the evaluation results, we can see that the performance in Telnet FTP, Web browsing through Bluetooth LAN Access Point is satisfactory.
