Analysis of Horticultural Activities in the Teacher's Guidebooks of Nuri Curriculum for 5-Year-Olds

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the frequency and contents of horticultural activities in 696 individual activities listed in 11 teacher's guidebooks of Nuri Curriculum for 5-year-olds, and to find out the perceptions of horticultural activities in the formal curriculum. The target horticultural activities that were selected were those using natural objects like potted plants, water, wind, soil, stones, etc. as the topic or subject of activities, and those with different topics but are mentioning plants or natural objects as an example at least twice. The 150 selected horticultural activities were classified by life-based theme, activity type, activity domain, and medium. As a result of examining horticultural activities by life-based theme, there were 150 horticultural activities (21.55%): 40 in Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter (5.75%), 34 in Animals, Plants, and Nature (4.89%), 22 in Environment and Life (3.16%), 19 in Our Country (2.73%), and nine in Our Neighborhood (1.29%), nine in Various Countries of the World (1.29%), four in Health and Safety (0.57%), four in Living tools (0.57%), four in Transportation (0.57%), three in Kindergarten and Friends (0.43%), two in Me and My Family (0.29%; χ2=130.427, p < .001). As a result of examining horticultural activities by activity type, there were 61 free choice activities (40.67%), 80 large and small group activities (53.33%), and nine outdoor play activities (6.00%), indicating that outdoor play was the fewest activity type (χ2=54.040, p < .001). The results of analyzing horticultural activities by activity domain showed that there were 25 in conversation (16.67%), 19 in science (12.50%), 14 in art (9.33%), 14 in cooking (9.33%), 10 in fairy tales (6.00%), nine in music (6.00%), eight in language (5.33%), eight in number operation (5.33%), eight in others (5.33%), six in children's plays (4.0%), six in games (4.0%), four in body and movement (2.67%), three in stacking (2.00%), three in roles (2.00%), three in rhythm (2.00%), two in children's poems (1.33%), two in field experience (1.33%) and one in outside play (0.67%; χ2=87.600, p < .001). As a result of examining the mediums used in the horticultural activities, 46 activities (30.67%) directly used plants as the mediums, 11 activities (7.33%) used soil such as stones, gravel, and earth as the mediums instead of plants, four activities (2.67%) used dry plants such as branches and dry leaves as the mediums, and 89 activities (59.33%) used videos, photos of plants, and pictures of plants as the mediums (χ2=121.307, p < .001).

유아 전통 놀이의 현장 적용을 위한 기초 연구 (The Educational Application of Children's Traditional Play in the Kindergarten Setting)

  • This study investigated how kindergarten teachers apply children's traditional play to educational curriculum and how kindergarten children engaged in traditional play. The subjects of this study were 120 kindergarten teachers and their 2930 5-year-old kindergarten children. Data were gathered through questionnaires. The results showed that most teachers included children's traditional play in educational curriculum as indoor and outdoor play activities, but they had difficulties in this process by lack of play materials and their knowledge of children's traditional play. The results also showed that kindergarten children played "Yut" most frequently and, in most cases, they engaged in traditional play in ways which were adjusted to their developmental level and life style.

공동주택단지 어린이놀이시설의 설계의도와 이용형태와의 차이점 (Differences between Design Guidelines and Use Behavior abort Play Facilities of Children\\` Playguound in Multi-Family Housing Site)

  • This study aims to find out differences between designer's design guidelines and user's actual behavior about play facilities of children playground in multifamily housing site by using the method of Post-Occupancy Evaluation. Korea National Housing Cooperation developed the 18 play facilities and constructed them into children' playground of Bun-dong and Junggae-dong housing site in Seoul. The results are as follows: First, user's behaviors which differed from designer's guidelines were influenced by mechanical and technical problems rather than design. Second, users adjusted their brahvior to play facilities which have a little operational problems. Third. users tried to make dangrous activity instead of designer's guidelines based on the safety. It infers that users want to make creative activities from play facilities. Fourth. designers should have developed play facilities for infants and youth. Fifth. users liked to play more complicated play facilities rather than single facility.

중년후기 성인이 지각하는 여가제약 및 여가충족이 생활만족도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Leisure Constraints and Leisure Sufficiency of Late Middle-Aged Adults on Their Life Satisfaction)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships among 'leisure constraints', 'leisure sufficiency' and 'life satisfaction' perceived by late middle-aged adults. The subjects of this research were 275 adults from 50 to 64. The results are as follows: 1) Among 5 categories of 'leisure constraints', the subjects perceive' financial constraints' as the most important, and in order of importance, 'social constraints', 'physical constraints', and 'familial constraints' followed. 2) Among five 'leisure activities', a factor perceived most sufficiently by middle-aged adults is 'simple relaxation' and followed by 'social activities', 'activities with family'. 'learning activities', and 'play-recreation activities'. 3) The factors influencing life satisfaction perceived by late-middle aged adults are 'religion', 'financial constraints', 'education', 'familial constraints', 'physical constraints', 'learning activities', and 'play-recreation activities'. These 7 factors explain 38.9% of total variation. Also, the 'leisure constraints' has a greater impact on their 'life satisfaction' than on their 'leisure sufficiency'.

만 5세 유아의 로봇 놀이 경험의 의미연구: 자유놀이와 구조적 집단활동을 중심으로 (A Study on the Meaning of Robot Play Experience of 5-Year-Old Children: Focused on free play and structured group activities)

  • 본 연구는 어린이집 만 5세 유아의 자유놀이시간 로봇 놀이 경험의 의미를 교사의 구조적 집단활동에서 나타나는 만 5세 유아 경험과 비교하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 만 5세 유아 총 32명(실험집단 15명, 비교집단 17명)을 대상으로 10주 동안 주 3회 1시간씩 진행하였다. 실험집단의 교실에 놀잇감으로 로봇을 지원하였으며, 유아들은 자유놀이시간에 자유롭게 로봇 탐색과 놀이를 경험하였으며, 비교집단의 유아들은 교사가 로봇의 기능을 알려주고 로봇에 탑재되어 있는 2019 개정 누리과정과 연계된 월별 주제에 기반한 구조적 집단활동을 하였다. 사전검사와 사후검사의 차이를 분석한 결과, 자유놀이에서 로봇 활용이 유아의 창의성에서 독창성, 유창성에서 유의미한 효과가 나타났고, 놀이성에서 즐거움의 표현에서 유의미한 효과가 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 유아 주도적인 자유놀이를 지향하고 있는 유아교육에서 놀이자료로서 로봇이 의미가 있으며 향후 이러한 자유로운 상황에서의 유아들의 로봇 경험을 연구할 가치가 있다는 것을 시사한다.

Skemp 이론을 적용한 웹기반 학습도구 구현 및 초등학교 수학 교육의 곱셈과 나눗셈 영역으로의 적용 (Implementation of Web-based Learning Tool using Skemp's Theory and Its applications to Multiplication and Division Operations in Elementary School Math Education)

  • 기존의 Skemp 이론을 기반으로 한 놀이 학습은 오프라인 상에서만 이루어져서 학습지 제작의 번거로움, 학업 성취수준 파악 및 피드백과 보상의 어려움 등이 그동안 문제점으로 지적되어 왔다. 이에 본 연구에서는 Skemp의 놀이 학습을 기반으로 하는 웹기반 학습도구를 개발하여 초등학생들이 웹 환경에서 쉽게 곱셈 및 나눗셈 연산을 학습할 수 있도록 하였다. 개발한 웹 학습도구의 효과성을 알아보기 위해 초등학교 3학년 학생들을 대상으로 학업 성취도 조사를 한 후 그 결과를 분석하였다. 분석 결과는 개발된 도구를 활용한 웹 기반 학습이 기존 교육과정 기반의 학습보다 곱셈과 나눗셈 연산 능력 향상에 효과적이며 통계적으로도 유의함을 보여주었다.

근린 놀이환경 적합도 및 요인 평가에 관한 연구 - 서울의 초등학생 부모 대상 설문조사결과를 중심으로 - (Assessment of the Suitability and the Factors of Play Environments in Residential Neighborhood - Based on a Citywide Survey of Elementary School Parents in Seoul -)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the environmental factors relating to children's outdoor play and to assess how the residential neighborhood is suitable for play in the perception of parents. Based on a citywide survey of 500 parents of elementary school students in grades 1-4 in Seoul, this empirical study shows that children's outdoor play environments in residential neighborhoods of Seoul have been observed to be overall unsuitable for play activity. Three physical environmental factors (spatial availability, neighborhood attractiveness, and street difficulties) and three social environmental factors (fear of crime, social interactions, and psychological comfort) are related to children's play activity. Five factors, with the exception of the psychological comfort factor, impact the suitability of children's outdoor play environment. Specifically, it is the physical environment, rather than the social environment, that was deemed unsuitable in spite of its impacts. These findings help us understand the current conditions of neighborhood play environments associated with children's play activity. It is necessary to improve parents' perceptions of the play environment and children's play activities by improving the physical environment.

관찰에 근거한 어린이집 영아반의 일과유형분류 및 일과유형별 영아의 놀이성과 교사 특성 (Playfulness of Infants and the Characteristics of Teachers according to Daily Routine Types based on Observation in Infant Classes in Child Care Centers)

  • 본 연구는 영아반의 하루 일과를 관찰하여 실내자유놀이, 실외놀이, 집단활동 및 낮잠 휴식 등의 일과를 구성하는 주요 요소들이 진행된 시간들을 바탕으로 하루일과의 유형을 분석하였다. 그리고 일과유형에 따라 영아의 놀이성, 교사의 학력 및 경력, 교사행동에서 어떠한 차이를 보이는지 살펴보았다. 연구결과, 영아반의 일과유형은 '실내 외놀이 지향형'과 '낮잠 휴식 및 집단활동 지향형' 등 2가지로 분류되었다. 일과유형별 영아의 놀이성의 차이를 살펴본 결과, '실내 외놀이 지향형'이 '낮잠 휴식 및 집단활동 지향형'보다 영아의 놀이성 전체점수와 하위영역인 신체적 자발성, 즐거움의 표현, 유모감각에서 유의하게 높은 점수를 보였다. 그리고 일과유형에 따라 교사의 학력은 유의한 차이가 없었으나 교사의 경력에서는 '실내 외놀이 지향형' 학급의 교사경력이 '낮잠 휴식 및 집단활동 지향형' 학급의 교사경력보다 유의하게 더 많았다. 교사의 상호작용행동에서도 유의한 차이가 나타나 '실내 외놀이 지향형' 일과의 교사가 '낮잠 휴식 및 집단활동 지향형'의 일과를 운영하는 교사보다 긍정적 지도행동과 중립적 지도행동을 유의하게 더 많이 보였다.

A Role-play Approach for Privacy Protection Inspiration of Elementary Students

  • Elementary school students have a little awareness of privacy protection since they do not have many opportunities for systematic education on information and communication ethics. Hence, they are likely to expose their own information to others and sometimes bring on a lot of misuses by using others' information. In this paper, we provide an idea for teaching and learning methods which the elementary school students acquire privacy protection and management methods and raise their practical capabilities. We develop a role play teaching and learning model in connection with various Information and Communication Technology (ICT) activities and establish the instruction plans. Moreover, we apply them to the actual classes at grade five and six of the elementary school students respectively, and finally analyze the results. The proposed teaching and learning method shows that the students participated in a series of learning activities have higher learning effects on awareness of privacy protection than those learned with the conventional methods.

그림책을 이용한 유아 창의극 활동에서의 유아 반응에 대한 탐구 (A Study of Creative Drama Activities for Young Children Based on Picture Books)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore children's experiences in a series of creative drama activities based around the use of picture books. The subjects were a total of 17 children 4 years of age. The research, implemented over the courses of 10 weeks, was integrated into their daily education curriculum. The children's drama activities were collected by participant observation, field notes, audio and videotape transcriptions, documentation of the young children's drama activities (eg. pantomimes, role plays & improvised expression, improvisations). The analysis reveals the following findings : 1) even shy and passive young children tried to participate in pantomime activities after reading books. 2) In role play & improvised expression activities, young children were immersed in the improvised situation and spontaneously expressed their emotions and thoughts as actors without the use of any scripts, in an impromptu manner. 3) In improvisation, young children collaborated with other children to create the improvisation by extending or transforming the content of the picture books through their own ideas.
