SURVEY OF EMISSION-LINE GALAXIES BY OBJECTIVE PRISM OBSERVATIONS (대물프리즘관측에 의한 방출선은하의 탐색)

  • In order to discover the candidates of emission-line galaxies towards Hydra Void, objective-prism observations using U.K. Schmidt Telescope were carried out. To search the emission feature of [0III]${\lambda}{\lambda}4959,5007$ for all objects on the plate, all observed prism plates were scanned with APM at the Royal Observatory and the copied direct R plates were scanned with PDS Microdensitometer operating in the Inter- University Center for National Science Research Facilities. By utilizing the "XIMTOOL" package, both spectral and direct images for the same field were displayed simultaneously on up and down windows separately. In case of distinct emission features for a certain object, corresponding direct object on the other window was examined through eyeballing to see whether this object is a galaxy. Through this procedure, we discovered in total 33 candidates of emission-line galaxies in a single field.

  • Video image based technology is being used in various fields with continuous development. The demand for vision system technology that analyzes and discriminates image objects acquired through cameras is rapidly increasing. Image processing is one of the core technologies of vision systems, and is used for defect inspection in the semiconductor manufacturing field, object recognition inspection such as the number of tire surfaces and symbols. In addition, research into license plate recognition is ongoing, and it is necessary to recognize objects quickly and accurately. In this paper, propose a recognition model through the rotational alignment of objects after checking the angle value of the tilt of the object in the input video image for the recognition of inclined objects such as numbers or symbols marked on the surface. The proposed model can perform object recognition of the rotationally sorted image after extracting the object region and calculating the angle of the object based on the contour algorithm. The proposed model extracts the object region based on the contour algorithm, calculates the angle of the object, and then performs object recognition on the rotationally aligned image. In future research, it is necessary to study template matching through machine learning.

Control of a mobile robot supporting a task robot on the top

  • This paper addresses the control problem of a mobile robot supporting a task robot with needs to be positioned precisely. The main difficulty residing in the precise control of a mobile robot supporting a task robot is providing an accurate and stable base for the task robot. That is, the end-plate of the mobile robot which is the base of the task robot can not be positioned accurately without external position sensors. This difficulty is resolved in this paper through the vision information obtained from the camera attached at the end of a task robot. First of all, the camera parameters were measured by using the images of a fixed object captured by the camera. The measured parameters include the rotation, the position, the scale factor, and the focal length of the camera. These parameters could be measured by using the features of each vertex point for a hexagonal object and by using the pin-hole model of a camera. Using the measured pose(position and orientation) of the camera and the given kinematics of the task robot, we calculate a pose of the end-plate of the mobile robot, which is used for the precise control of the mobile robot. Experimental results for the pose estimations are shown.

  • In this research, to develop the practical application system of fresh water generation system with plate-type fresh water generator using low pressure evaporation method is the main object, and to do that, this study used the evacuated solar collector with operating range of about $50-85^{\circ}C$ as thermal energy source and solar photovoltaic as electric energy source. To achieve that object, this study set up the demo-plant, then estimated and analyzed the usefulness, the safety, and the reliability through pre-tests during short time ahead of the long-time operation. This study showed that the pumps, which are including sea water supply, ejector, hot water supply, and fresh water pumps, were operated one after another. And, the fresh water yield was closely related with the solar irradiance and lower supply temperature of hot water was revealed more reasonable for the solar energy desalination system. That is due to the insufficient area than the solar collector area being required that was estimated through the performance tests of the fresh water generator.

Development of a Small 6-axis Force/Moment Sensor for Robot′s Finger (로봇 손가락용 소형 6축 힘/모멘트센서 개발)

  • This paper describes the development of a small 6-axis force/moment sensor for robot's finger, which measures farces Fx, Fy, Fz, and moments Mx, My, Mz simultaneously. In order to safely grasp an unknown object using the robot's gripper, and accurately perceive the position of it in the gripper, it should measure the force in the gripping direction, the force in the gravity direction and the moments each direction, and perform the force control using the measured forces and moments. Also, it should detect the moments Mx (x-direction moment), My and Mz to accurately perceive the position of the object in the grippers. Thus, the robot's gripper should be composed of 6-axis force/moment sensor that can measure forces Fx, Fy, Fz, and moments Mx, My, Mz simultaneously. In this paper, the small 6-axis force/moment sensor for measuring forces Fx, Fy, Fz, and moments Mx, My, Mz simultaneously was newly modeled using several parallel-plate beams, designed, and fabricated. The characteristic test for the developed sensor was performed, and the result shows that intereference errors of the developed sensor are less than 4.23%. Thus, the developed small 6-axis force/moment sensor may be used a robot's gripper.

Improving Superconductor Levitation for Seismic Isolation Device by Applying Eddy Current Effect (와상전류를 응용하여 지진 충격흡수 장치를 위한 초전도 자기부상 안정화 향상)

  • Pinning force is the mechanism between a superconductor and a permanent magnet and it provides a stable levitation. However, when external force greater than the pinning force such as the earthquake exerts, the levitated object may lose the levitating characteristic. In order to achieve more stabilized levitation, the copper plate was inserted in between a superconductor and permanent magnets. And by applying the eddy current effect caused from the relationship between a copper plate and permanent magnets, more stabilized levitation can be established. In this study, an optimized design was found based on various configurations of permanent magnet's polarity, thickness and area of copper plate, and the gap distance between copper plate and permanent magnet. As results, higher eddy current value was obtained at where the change of polarity exists in permanent magnet configuration, and the highest eddy current value was observed at the copper plate thickness of 5 mm and the area of 80 mm ${\times}$ 80 mm. From the resulted optimized conditions above, which are 7 mm gap distance between a superconductor and permanent magnets and 80 mm ${\times}$ 80 mm ${\times}$ 5 mm dimension of a copper plate, the stiffness value was 65 % increased comparing to without any copper plate insertion.

License Plate Recognition System based on Normal CCTV (일반 CCTV 기반 차량 번호판 인식 시스템)

  • This Paper proposes a vehicle detection system and a license plate recognition system from CCTV images installed on public roads. Since the environment of this system acquires the image in the general road environment, the stable condition applied to the existing vehicle entry / exit system is not given, and the input image is distorted and the resolution is irregular. At the same time, the viewing angle of the input image is more wide, so that the computation load is high and the recognition accuracy of the plate is likely to be lowered. In this paper, we propose an improved method to detect and recognize a license plate without a separate input control devices. The vehicle and license plate were detected based on the HOG feature descriptor, and the characters inside the license plate were recognized using the k-NN algorithm. Experimental environment was set up for the roads more than 45m away from the CCTV, Experiments were carried out on an entry vehicle capable of visually identifying license plate and Experimental results show good results of the proposed method.

  • Recently, as high-rise buildings increase steeply, sub-structures of them are often supported on elastic foundation(in a case of pasternak foundation or winkler foundation). And there are many machines in sub-structures of buildings and slabs of sub-structures are affected by vibration which they make. This paper deals with vibration of plates on elastic foundation. Machines on plates are considered as concentrated mass. This paper has the object of investigating natural frequencies of tapered thick plate on pasternak foundation by means of finite element method and providing kinetic design data for mat of building structures. Free vibration analysis that tapered thick plate with Concentrated Masses in this paper. Finite element analysis of rectangular plate is done by use of rectangular finite element with 8-nodes. In order to analysis plate which is supported on pasternak foundation. The Winkler parameter is varied with 10, $10^2$, $10^3$ and the shear foundation parameter is 5, 10. This paper is analyzed varying thickness by taper ratio. The taper ratio is applied as 0.0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1.0. And the Concentrated Mass is applied as P1, Pc, P2 respectively.

Korean License Plate Recognition Using CNN (CNN 기반 한국 번호판 인식)

  • The Automatic Korean license plate recognition (AKLPR) is used in many fields. For many applications, high recognition rate and fast processing speed of ALPR are important. Recent advances in deep learning have improved the accuracy and speed of object detection and recognition, and CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) has been applied to ALPR. The ALPR is divided into the stage of detecting the LP region and the stage of detecting and recognizing the character in the LP region, and each step is implemented with separate CNN. In this paper, we propose a single stage CNN architecture to recognize license plate characters at high speed while keeping high recognition rate.

Collection Characteristics of Multi-layer Multi-stage Porous Plate System (다층 다단 다공성 플레이트 시스템의 집진 특성)

  • The main object of this study is to investigate the collection characteristics of multi-layer multi-stage porous plate system experimentally. The experiment is carried out to analyze the characteristics of pressure drop and collection efficiency for the present system with the experimental parameters such as inlet velocity, tube diameter, inlet concentration, and stage number, etc. In results, the pressure drop becomes 22 to $115mmH_2O$ with increment of stage number (1 to 5) of porous plate system at tube velocity 15 m/s and tube diameter ${\Phi}8$. In case of fly ash and 5 stage, the collection efficiency becomes 90.5 to 95.7% increasing the tube velocity 12 to 15 m/s at inlet concentration $3g/m^3$ and tube diameter ${\Phi}8$. Additionally, it is estimated that the collection efficiencies of 5 stage are 94.3, 95.6 and 99.1% for fly ash, steel dust and based power, respectively (${\Phi}8$ tube, $V_t$ = 12m/s, inlet concentration $3g/m^3$).
