  • This study was carried out to investigate the growth responses of medicinal plants such as Glehnia littoralis, Cryptotaenia japonica, Angelica gigas, Reynoutria japonica, Saururus chinensis, Houttuynia cordata, Ligularia fischeri, and Aralia cordata under 70%-shading and full sunlight conditions on a rooftop condition using artificial soil as a growth media. Glehnia littoralis, Cryptotaenia japonica, Ligularia fischeri, Saururus chinensis, and Houttuynia cordata showed better growth on plant height, leaf length, leaf width, petiole length and leaf number under full sunlight conditions on a rooftop condition. Cryptotaenia japonica and Houttuynia cordata had high value of Hunter's a (red-green) under full sunlight, while had lower value of L(lightness) and b(blue-yellow) than those of 70% shading condition. As an index of plant stress response, Glehnia littoralis, Reynoutria japonica, Houttuynia cordata, Ligularia fischeri showed Fv/Fm values 0.79~0.84 under full sunlight in August, indicating low stress on plant growth. Therefore they seemed to be suitable medicinal plats for rooftop conditions. Ligularia fischeri and Reynoutria japonica showed better growth under 70% shading treatment in August, while showed high growth response under full sunlight conditions in September. The 70% shading treatment was effective for the growth of Angelica gigas, Reynoutria japonica, and Aralia cordata. Angelica gigas and Reynoutria japonica, however, showed better plant growth under full sunlight during summer. The results showed that Glehnia littoralis, Cryptotaenia japonica, Ligularia fischeri, Saururus chinensis, and Houttuynia cordat seemed to be suitable medicinal plants for rooftop garden where there is a full sunlight condition.

The actual vegetation of the surveyed site were classified into 12 plant community and cropland; Natural forest were classified into 8 plant communities; Quercus mongolica communities, Pinus densiflora communities, Deciduous broadleaf forest, Mixed forest, etc. And artificial forest were classified into 3 forest types: Larix kaempferi forest, Pinus koraie-nsis forest, etc. The DGN 8 appeared in the widest area as $73.08\%$, and the DGN 9 was $11.32\%$. The planting status of landscaping plants at the surveyed site were recorded as total 129 species, 44 Family. The exotic plant of surveyed site was $65.65\%$.

  • Cybrid virtual plant concept is defined as a cyber plant mimicking a physical plant by using plant engineering data and sensor data coming from sensors attached to facilities of the physical plant. Cybrid virtual plant is a new concept for plant industry so that plant managers and operators' requirements need to be captured for systematic application of the concept to the plant industry. The paper proposed an architecture of the cybrid virtual plant, and provided requirement analysis results for a specific plant company. A database, named smart-cube repository, for the proposed cybrid virtual plant is also proposed and its conceptual data structure is described.

  • The naturalized plant species in Gyeongju National Park was summarized as 46 taxa including 14 families 40 genus 45 species 1 varieties. Among them, annual herbaceous species was 17 taxa (37%) which is grouped as the biggest proportion and 16 taxa (34.8%) for perennial herbaceous species and 11 taxa (23.9%) for biannual herbaceous species and 2 taxa(4.3%) for tree species. European origin was the biggest proportion as 17 taxa (37%), and 16% (34.8%) from North America. The degree of naturalization (DoN) was the biggest for Degree III, V as 18 taxa (39.1%). Regarding 321 naturalized plant species, the Urbanization Index in the studied area was 14.3%. The Namsam District showed 8.1% which is the highest DoN in the studied districts within the Gyeongju National Park. As the cultural properties is important in the Gyeongju National Park as a representatives for historical sites in Korea, planting and its management in the cultural properties is important tasks. The naturalized plant species in the studied area should be reasonably management.

  • The purpose of this study is to improve Biotope Area Ratio(BAR) systems used in the various fields. Recently, there has been increasing demand in urban agriculture as well as more residents cultivating farms on a small scale. However, there are few measures in terms of architecture and urban planning to respond to this trend. In this sense, this research is effective as it can respond to these demands by using BAR systems. Yet, the environmental indexes are not enough since BAR systems only take account of vegetation. Therefore, this study proposes an alternative way that includes the capacity factor of the plant growth by expanding the existing BAR systems. Thus, the study analyzes the complementary possibility of BAR systems, including elements of daylight, planting interval, area and soil depth with existing BAR elements.

  • In this study, we surveyed the influence of IOA (iodoacetamide) and media upon protoplast fusion for the efficient production of the somatic hybrid among S. sisymbriifolium and other Solanum species (S. intergrifolium and S. toxicarium). Regardless of a breed, as the IOA concentration increases, the cell division tends to decrease. As the influence of the media on the colony formation, we could get 5 colonies from the fusion of S. sisymbriifolium and IOA-treated S. integrifolium protoplast, but none was observed in other fusions. As a result of analyzing their IDH isozyme, we found a somatic hybrid in 2 objects.

  • Based on the design of reinforced concrete columns in Chinese design codes, the failure function of reinforced concrete (RC) columns cannot be expressed as a linear function. This makes it difficult to reveal the level of reliability control in Chinese design code. Therefore, the failure function of dimensionless form is established in this paper, and the typical components (Industrial plant columns) are selected for analysis. At last, numerical simulation proves that the proposed model can be used to analysis reliability of columns. The results based on this model indicate that there is a strong difference in the reliability of RC columns designed with different design parameters, and the reliability would be lower when the eccentricity produced by crane load is smaller.

  • Venturi meter is frequently used in feed water flow control system in a nuclear power plant. Its accurate measurement plays a vital role in the safe operation of the plant. This paper firstly investigates the influence of the length of each section of pipeline, the throat inner diameter of Venturi and the flow characteristics in a single-phase flow on the accuracy of Venturi measurement by numerical calculation. Then the flow and the accuracy are discussed in a multi-phase flow. Numerical results show that the geometrical parameters and the characteristics of complex turbulent flow in the single-phase flow have little impact on the accuracy of Venturi flow rate measurement. In the multi-phase flow, the calculated flow rate of Venturi deviated from the actual flow rate and this deviation value is closely related to the amount of steam in the pipeline and increases sharply with the increase of the amount of steam. The over-reading of Venturi flow rate is present.

  • The purposes of this study was to investigate accuracy and indigenity of landscape plant species in planting design and construction at housing complex and offer basic data for improving precision of planting construction. The scientific name of landscape plant species was described in planting drawings at only two sites among twelve survey sites. According to analysis on indigenity of plant species in planting drawings, it was found that the component ratio of foreign species was the highest and the component ratio of native species at public housing complex was the lowest. The component ratio of landscape plant species in planting construction was severely differed to that of planting drawings. Also the component ratio of cultivar was higher than that of planting drawings due to planting of sevveral cultivars for one species in planting drawings. In the result of accuracy analysis on landscape plant species in planting construction, it was found that mean ratio of inacccurate species was 33.2% at public housing complex, 29.6% at local company housing complex and 26.4% at nationwide company housing complex. It was found that several cultivars were planted for one species in planting drawings. The representative species which were planted by several cultivars were Camellia japonica, Rododendron spp., Prunus spp. and Magnolia spp. and so on. In order to promote the precision and speciality of planting design and construction, scientific and cultivar name of plants should be described in planting drawings.
