  • This paper presents the analysis of pitch static attitude (PSA) in thermally assisted magnetic recording (TAMR) suspension. The TAMR suspension using an optical fiber has high stiffness such as vertical, pitch and roll. Therefore, P-torque is greatly increased by the optical fiber. Also, flying height (FH) of the slider with TAMR suspension can be largely changed by PSA. In this paper, we focus on the FH by PSA of TAMR suspension. The FH is investigated using various PSA and proper PSA is proposed.

  • Relaxed Static Stability (RSS) concept has been applied to improve aerodynamic performance of modern version supersonic jet fighter aircraft. The T-50 advanced supersonic trainer employs the RSS concept in order to improve the aerodynamic performance. And the flight control system stabilizes the unstable aircraft and provides adequate handling qualities. The T-50 longitudinal control laws employ a proportional-plus-integral type controller based on a dynamic inversion method. The longitudinal dynamic modes consist of short period with high frequency and phugoid mode with low frequency. The design goal of longitudinal control law is optimization of short period damping ratio and frequency using Lower Order Equivalent System (LOES) complying the requirement of MIL-F-8785C. This paper addresses phugoid mode characteristics such as damping ratio and natural frequency that is affected by the nonlinear control laws such as angle of attack limiter, auto pitch attitude command system and autopilot of pitch attitude hold.

  • Thermally-assisted magnetic recording (TAMR) is a potentially promising approach to increase the storage density of hard disk drive (HDD). However, TAMR has some issues such as temperature effects, media problems, thermal deformation and light delivery. In this research, we focused on light delivery. One of the powerful methods to deliver the light from laser diode to recording medium is the use of an optical fiber and a specially designed prism. However, the TAMR with optical fiber may have some flyability problems induced by the mounted optical fiber and prism. Also, the TAMR suspension using an optical fiber has high vertical and pitch stiffness. Therefore, p-torque is greatly increased by the optical fiber. Also, flying height (FH) of the slider with TAMR suspension can be largely changed by p-torque. Therefore, in this paper, we focus on the pitch static attitude (PSA) tolerance and the FH by PSA of the TAMR suspension. The FH is investigated using various errors and the PSA tolerance for TAMR suspension is proposed.

비행선 자세각에 따른 부력중심 이동 및 종적 정안정성

  • 비행선의 자세각 변화는 내부의 헬륨 가스의 쏠림에 의한 부력중심 이동을 수반하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 자세각에 따른 부력중심 이동거리를 산출하고, 그에 따른 정적 종안 정성을 고찰하였다. 또한, 부력중심 이동 거리를 줄이기 위하여 비행선 내부에 설치된 격막에 의한 효과를 검토하였다. 부력중심은 정적 종안정성을 저하시키는 방향으로 이동하므로, 현 설계에서는 격막의 설치가 필수적이다. 속도에 대한 종적 정안정성을 고찰한 결과, 현 설계에서는 매우 낮은 속도 영역에서 정적으로 안정함을 알 수 있다.

Engineering Realization of Full Attitude System Based On GPS Carrier Phase and MEMS IMU

  • This paper describes the design and realization of full attitude system based on MEMS IMU and GPS carrier phase. The work can be divided into two parts: First, initial heading is determined by using two GPS receivers. And this paper discusses the usage of space geometry conditions to reduce the range of ambiguity search. The method presented in this paper was tested on the static. On the static condition, an accuracy better than 0.06 degrees for heading for 3.48m long baseline has been achieved. Integration of GPS and low cost MEMS IMU are used to realize the real-time heading attitude system. Second, level attitude (pitch and roll) is determined using the method of frequency-velocity for the feedback control. At the same time, the method using the attitude based on MEMS IMU to help determination of the range of ambiguity search is proposed. The results done on the sea show that an alternative means to provide real-time, cost-effective, accurate and reliable attitude information for attitude surveys. Though motivated by a big ships application, the design can be applied to other vehicles.

항공기 기수 숙임 현상 개선 (Improvement of Unexpected Pitch Down Tendency of an Aircraft)

  • 현대의 고성능 전투기는 공력성능 및 조종성능의 향상을 위하여 대부분 세로축 방향으로 항공기를 불안정하게 설계하는 정안정성 완화 개념을 채택하고 있다. 항공기는 비행제어법칙에 필요한 피치, 롤, 요우각속도, 수직가속도와 같은 항공기 상태정보를 각속도(RSA: Rate Sensor Assembly)와 가속도센서(ASA: Acceleration Sensor Assembly)로부터 획득한다. 항공기에 적용되는 센서는 항공기의 안전을 보장하는 최소한의 허용 가능한 측정 오차를 갖지만, 잡음, 오프셋 등과 같은 허용 범위내의 오차로 인하여 원하지 않는 항공기 운동을 발생시킨다. 비행시험 결과, ASA의 허용 범위내의 측정 오차는 1g 수평비행시에 원하지 않는 기수 숙임 현상을 일으켰다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 오차로 인하여 발생하는 기수 숙임 현상을 개선하기 위해 1g 수평비행 조건에 피치자세각 궤환을 세로축 제어법칙에 적용하였다. 비행시험 결과, 피차자세각 궤환은 1g 수평 비행 시에 기수 숙임현상을 제거하고 항공기의 기본적인 안정성에는 영향을 미치지 않는다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • The HDD (hard disk drive) using Load/Unload (L/UL) technology includes the benefits which are increased areal density, reduced power consumption and improved shock resistance than those of contact-start-stop (CSS). Dynamic L/UL has been widely used in portable hard disk drive and will become the key technology for developing the small form factor hard disk drive. Main design objectives of the L/UL mechanisms are no slider-disk contact or no media damage even with contact during L/UL, and a smooth and short load and unload process. In this paper, we focus on state matrix, pitch static attitude (PSA), roll static attitude (RSA), loading/unloading contour (LC/ULC), impact force and contact. Stability of slider is mainly determined by PSA and RSA. State matrix by PSA and RSA is also important indicator. Therefore we analyze state matrix of SFF HDD suspension through the LC/ULC.

The main design objectives of the L/UL mechanisms are no slider-disk contact or no media damage even with contact during L/UL, and a smooth and short unloading process. In this paper, we focus on lift-off force, pitch static attitude (PSA), roll static attitude (RSA) and dimple point. The "lift-off" force, defined as the minimum air bearing force, is another very important indicator of unloading performance. A large amplitude of lift-off force increases the ramp force, the unloading time, the slider oscillation and contact-possibility. PSA and RSA are also very important parameters in L/UL system and stability of slider is mainly determined by PSA and RSA. Dimple point by PSA and RSA is also important indicator. Therefore we find the optimal dimple point of SFF HDD suspension for improving the unloading performance.

T-50 세로축 장주기 모드 운동 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Phugoid Mode in Longitudinal Axis of T-50)

  • 현대의 고성능 전투기는 공력성능 및 조종성능의 향상을 위하여 대부분 세로축 방향으로 항공기를 불안정하게 설계하는 정안정성 완화(Relaxed Static Stability) 개념을 채택하고 있다. 비행제어법칙의 설계 작업은 불안정하게 설계된 항공기에 안정성(Stability)을 부여하고, 주어진 비행임무에 대하여 만족스런 조종성능(Controllability)을 발휘할 수 있도록 비행성능을 조작하는 일련의 과정이다. 항공기의 세로축 운동은 장주기 및 단주기 운동이라는 2개의 감쇠진동 모드가 중첩되어 있다고 간주한다. 전투기에서 세로축 제어법칙설계는 장주기 모드가 설계대상으로 고려되지 않으며, 미 군사규격인 MIL-F-8785C에 정의되어 있는 단주기 모드(Short Period Mode)의 요구조건을 이용하여 주파수와 감쇠비를 최적화한다. 이 때, 제어법칙이 포함된 고차시스템을 저차 등가시스템으로 등가 시켜 판별한다. 현재까지 항공기의 단주기 운동 특성에 관한 연구는 활발하게 진행되어 왔으나, 장주기 운동 특성에 관한 연구는 그렇지 못하였다. 본 논문에서는 T-50 훈련기의 장주기 모드 운동 특성을 분석하기 위해 선형 및 비선형해석을 수행하였으며, 받음각제한기 및 자동 피치자세각 트림 명령이 세로축 운동에 미치는 영향성을 분석하였다.
