Dielectric and Piezoelectric Properties of $Pb(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-PbTiO_3-PbZrO_3$ Ceramics for Actuator Applications (대변위용 액츄에이터 응용을 위한 $Pb(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-PbTiO_3-PbZrO_3$ 세라믹스에서의 유전 및 압전 특성)

  • 본 연구에서는 초음파 모터 등의 고출력 액츄에이터에 응용 가능한 $04Pb(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-6Pb(Zr_xTi_{1-x})O_3$ 조성시스템에 소결온도를 달리하여 압전, 유전특성 및 미세구조에 관해 고찰하였다. 본 조성을 $1200^{\circ}C$ 온도에서 2, 4, 6, 8시간 소결하여 시편을 제조하였으며 이의 결정구조 및 미세조직을 분석하였다. 소결시간 증가에 따라 전기기계결합계수와 기계적품질계수는 증가하였으며, 압전상수는 Zr(Zr+Ti)비 0.390까지 증가하였으나 그 이상 증가함에 따라 감소하였다. 압전특성은 $1200^{\circ}C$에서 4시간 소결한 Zr=0.390인 조성에서 ${\varepsilon}_r$ = 4487, $k_p$ = 0.72. $d_{33}$ = 710, $Q_m$ =109의 우수한 특성을 나타내었다.

  • Piezoelectric ceramics can provide electro-mechanical transduction with high stresses but low displacement. To obtain larger displacements, several mechanical amplifying structures have been used. High alternating displacements can be obtained using resonant structure. In this paper, we designed a bolt-tightened Langevin type ultrasonic vibrator whose resonant frequency is 50[kHz] and ceramics are multilayered. FEM(Finite Element Methode) was employed to calculate. the resonant frequencies and maximum displacements of designed vibrators. The designed resonant frequency and computer calculated frequencies were coincided. When input voltages were increased, the maximum displacements also rose. As AC voltage was applied, the maximum displacement were shown sinusoidal changes. Terminal input admittance over a frequency range spanning the resonant frequency were calculated. ANSYS was used to find resonant frequencies and calculate displacements of vibrators.

Study on Basic Characteristics of Hollow Piezoelectric Actuator for Driving Nanoscale Stamp (나노스템프 구동용 중공형 압전액추에이터 기본특성에 관한 연구)

  • Nanoimprint lithography has been actively investigated. This method can replicate a nanopatterned master stamp onto a thin polymer film on a silicon substrate and so on. In this study, a square-shaped hollow piezoelectric actuator is presented, which is newly developed. This actuator is used for driving a nanoscale stamp in nanoimprint lithography instead of a conventional electric motor. The fabricated prototype actuator has 95 layers and side lengths of 23 mm and 18 mm for the outer and inner squares, respectively. By adopting a novel process instead of the conventional forming process for fabricating a one-layer actuator, the one-layer is composed of four rectangular segments produced by sawing a ceramic film with a thickness of 0.3 mm. The basic characteristics on displacement and generation force of the fabricated prototype actuator are experimentally investigated. Furthermore, the displacement characteristics obtained by using a PI controller are tested and discussed.

Experimental Comparison on Vibration Attenuation Performances of the Piezoelectric Mount in Same Geometric Constraints with the Rubber Mount (고무마운트와 동일한 형상 조건을 갖는 압전마운트의 진동저감 성능에 대한 실험적 비교 고찰)

  • An active mount is devised in same geometric constraints with a conventional rubber mount. The proposed mount features the piezoelectric actuator which can be used to reduce the vibration at marine vessels or automotive vehicles. As a first step, a passive rubber mount is adopted and its dynamic characteristics are experimentally evaluated. Based on the geometry of the rubber mount, a rubber element for the active mount is manufactured and integrated with two piezostacks in series, in which the piezostack is operated as an inertial type of actuator. A conventional PID controller featured by the simple and easy implementation, is then designed to attenuate the non-resonant high frequency vibration transmitted from the base excitation. Finally, the control performances of a proposed active mount are evaluated in the wide frequency range and compared with those of the conventional rubber mount.

A comparative study on the user satisfaction between two different piezoelectric engines (두가지 피에조 엔진의 사용자 만족도 비교)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study is to compare the performance of two piezoelectric engine systems by surveying satisfaction from dental clinicians. Materials and Methods: Two piezoelectric systems were evaluated: TRAUS XUS10 (Saeshin), PIEZOSURGERY touch (Mectron). For this study, 20 dentists responded to the 11 questionnaires in which 5 point Likert-type scale was used. The two devices were operated for 10 seconds and measured 5 times to compare the maximum noise values. In heat emission test, the handpiece was operated for 3 minutes and heat was measured at three positions each. Results: TRAUS XUS10 had higher satisfaction level on motor noise (P < 0.05). About function key and handpiece heat generation, PIEZOSURGERY touch showed higher satisfaction (P < 0.05) than TRAUS XUS10. The maximum noise level for each of the devices was confirmed to be 56.6 dB for the TRAUS XUS10 and 56.0 dB for PIEZOSURGERY touch. The two piezoelectric engines satisfied the safety standards with an operation temperature below $41^{\circ}C$ after having been operated for 3 minutes. Conclusion: Except for the function key and handpiece heat emission, TRAUS XUS10 has comparable performance with PIEZOSURGERY touch.

  • 본 논문에서는 카메라폰용 광학줌(Optical zooming)과 자동초점조절장치(Auto Focusing,AF)에 쓰일 초음파모터를 제작하였다. 초음파모터의 제작 및 시뮬레이션은 유한요소해석 프로그램인 ATILA 5.2 1(Magsoft co.)를 사용하여 디자인설계에 따른 구동특성을 고찰하였고 제작된 초음파모터는 한쪽 면이 없는 사작형의 탄성체를 제작하였으며 탄성체의 양쪽 다리에 각각 압전체를 부착하였다 또한 압전세라익의 조성은 0.9Pb$(Zr_{0.51}Ti_{0.49})O_3$ - 0.1Pb$(Mn_{1/3}Nb_{1/3}Sb_{1/3})O_3$ 의 조성으로 설계하였고 시편의 제조는 7-layer로 적층하였다. 제작된 압전세라믹의 치수는 6*2*0.35mm$^3$(길이*폭*두께)로 제작하였다. 또한 탄성체의 외형치수는 8*4*2mm$^3$로 제작하였으며 회전축의 지름은 2mm로 제작하였다. 인가전압과 공진주파수가 각각 20Vpp, 64kHz일 때 소비전력은 0.3[W]이며 회전속도는 500rpm 으로 측정되었다.

Effect of the Design Parameters Change on the Hybrid Dynamometer Braking Performance (혼성동력계에서 주요 설계변수가 제동성능에 미치는 효과분석)

  • Dynamometer is a device for testing the performance of the brake and it is composed of a test zone, the mechanical inertia zone, the electric motor and the control zone. Hybrid dynamometer is a way to compensate for the loss of mechanical inertia in accordance with the brake operation by using an electric motor to reduce the size of the mechanical inertia with the advantage that can be tested in the relatively small size of the mechanical inertia and low cost. In this paper, design the proper size of hybrid dynamometer in the laboratory level with the space constraints, analysed the effect of critical parameter on the braking performance of hybrid dynamometer such as changing the friction coefficient. With this study, could get the results of guideline to judge the poor friction material by measuring the torque of the electric motor to compensate the energy loss due to a reduced mechanical inertia.

  • Recently High precision positioning device is used in many kinds of manufacturing and scientific instruments. Piezoelectric transducer is applied to the positioning devive as actuator, PZT has a high resolution, however, moving range is short. Many researcher have developed the mechanism for increasing a motion range. The types of increasing motion range mechanism with PZT are inertial slider, friction driver, ultrasonic motor, etc. In this paper we discuss the review of the hish precision actuator mechanism with PZT. Many kinds of mechanism for high precision are shown and compared.

A Study on the System Identification for Detection of Tool Breakage (공구파손검출을 위한 시스템인식에 관한 연구)

  • The demands for robotic and automatic system are continually increasing in manufacturing fields. There have been many studies to monitor and predict the system, but they have mainly focused upon measuring cutting force, and current of motor spindle, and upon using acoustic sensor, etc. In this study, time series sequence of cutting force was acquired by taking advantage of piezoelectric type tool dynamometer. Radial cutting force was obtained from it and was available for useful observation data. The parameter was estimated using PAA(parameter adaptation algorithm) from observation data. ARMA(auto regressive moving average) model was selected for system model and second order was decided according to parameter estimation. Uncorrelation test was also carried out to verify convergence of parameter.

  • Micro/meso cutting is getting more important in the fields of precision machining technology. A micro-turning lathe is one of parts to consist the Micro Factory. It accepts stepwise motion actuators that are used for feeding system instead of the conventional mechanism. It is consisted of two Piezoelectric ceramics; one is for feeding the slider, and the other is for clamping the slider in the guide way of the body. The linearity and positional accuracy of the actuators are good enough for high precision motion. The spindle unit is operated with DC motor on the top of the slider. The motion is communicated with miniaturized linear encoder attached on each side of axis. A mono crystal diamond tool is used for cutting tool. This micro-lathe has been made a machining experiment to see the characteristics of micro-machining.
