태양에너지 해수담수화시스템 실증 (Demonstration study on Desalination System using Solar energy)

  • In this research, to develop the practical application system of fresh water generation system with plate-type fresh water generator using low pressure evaporation method is the main object, and to do that, this study used the evacuated solar collector with operating range of about $50-85^{\circ}C$ as thermal energy source and solar photovoltaic as electric energy source. To achieve that object, this study set up the demo-plant, then estimated and analyzed the usefulness, the safety, and the reliability through pre-tests during short time ahead of the long-time operation. This study showed that the pumps, which are including sea water supply, ejector, hot water supply, and fresh water pumps, were operated one after another. And, the fresh water yield was closely related with the solar irradiance and lower supply temperature of hot water was revealed more reasonable for the solar energy desalination system. That is due to the insufficient area than the solar collector area being required that was estimated through the performance tests of the fresh water generator.

Optimal Harmonic Stepped Waveform Technique for Solar Fed Cascaded Multilevel Inverter

  • In this paper, the Optimal Harmonic Stepped Waveform (OHSW) method is proposed in order to eliminate the selective harmonic orders available at the output of cascaded multilevel inverter (CMLI) fed by solar photovoltaic (SPV). This technique is used to solve the harmonic elimination equations based on stepped waveform analysis in order to obtain the optimal switching angles which in turn reduce the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). The OHSW method considers the output voltage waveform as four equal symmetries in each half cycle. In the proposed method, a solar fed fifteen level cascaded multilevel is considered where the magnitude of six numbers of harmonic orders is reduced. A programmable pulse generator is developed to carry the switching angles directly to the semiconductor switches obtained as a result of OHSW analysis. Simulations are carried out in MATLAB/Simulink in which a separate model is developed for solar photovoltaic which serves as the input for cascaded multilevel inverter. A 3kWp solar plant with multilevel inverter system is implemented in hardware to show the effectiveness of the proposed system. Based on the observation the OHSW method provides the reduced THD thereby improving power quality in renewable energy applications.

  • The development of the solar and the wind power energy are necessary since the future alternative energies that have no pollution and no limitation are restricted. Currently power generation system of MW scale has been developed, but it still has a few faults with the weather condition. In order to solve these existing problems, combined generation system of photovoltaic(400w) and wind power generation system(400w) was suggested. It combines wind power and solar energy to have the supporting effect from each other However, since even combined generation system cannot always generate stable output with ever-changing weather condition, power compensation device that uses elastic energy of spiral spring to combined generation system was also added for the present study. In an experiment, when output of system gets lower than 12V(charging voltage), power was continuously supplied to load through the inverter by charging energy obtained from generating rotary energy of spiral spring operates in small scale generator

  • 태양광 발전은 일사량이 높을수록 발전량이 증가된다. 그러나 일사량이 높아짐에 따라 셀의 온도도 같이 증가해 발전 효율은 감소하게 된다. 냉각시스템의 설치는 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위한 적절한 방법이 될 수 있으나 냉각시스템 설치 후 태양광 발전량의 증가량, 냉각시스템의 설치비용, 냉각시스템의 유지 보수비용 등 실용화에 필요한 내용은 논의되고 있지 않다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 냉각시스템의 효과 및 상용화 가능성에 대해 기술하였다.

  • This study was analyzed the long term performance of the demonstration system for solar energy desalination in Jeju. we used a solar thermal system as heat source of the single-stage fresh water generator with plate-type heat exchangers and a photovoltaic power system as electric source for hydraulic pumps. The demonstration system was designed and installed at Jeju-island in 2006. The system was comprised of the desalination unit with daily fresh water capacity designed as $2m^3$ a $120m^2$ evacuated tubular solar collector to supply the heat, a $6m^3$ heat storage tank, and a 5kW photovoltaic power generation to supply the electricity of hydraulic pumps for the heat medium fluids. Through the operation during about 3 years, In a clear day more than $400W/m^2$, the daily fresh water showed to produce more than about 500liter, and from January, 2007 to March, 2009 for 3 years, solar irradiance daily averaged was measured $370W/m^2$, the daily fresh water yield showed that can be produced about 330liter.

  • 본 연구는 건물에서의 태양광발전시스템 중 수직 측벽에 설치 및 적용되는 태양광발전시스템을 연구의 범위로 설정한다. 연구 방법으로 문헌연구를 통하여 이론적 배경을 고찰하였고, 이후 국내외 수직 측벽에 설치 및 적용되는 태양광 발전기 디자인의 현황과 동향, 특징을 파악하여 사례를 조사, 분석하였다. 그 결과 태양광 발전기의 중요도와 필요성, 발전 가능성 및 성장세를 확인하였으며, 심미성 향상을 위한 긍정적 요인과 방향성을 발견하였다. 이러한 점을 기준으로 향후 수직 측벽에 설치 및 적용되는 태양광발전시스템디자인에 적용할 시 올 수 있는 기대효과를 제안하고, 추후 연구 진행할 그린 파사드 디자인을 활용한 박막 태양전지 디자인 기술 개발 제안에 대해 심미성 향상을 위한 방향성과 의의를 확인하고자 한다.

해안지역 주거시설을 위한 전력수요 변동 대응형 하이브리드 발전시스템 도입 효과 예측에 관한 사례연구 (A feasibility study on the hybrid power generation system considering of electricity needs' fluctuation of coastal area's houses)

  • 본 연구는 섬 주거시설의 전력부하 변동특성에 적합한 태양광발전설비와 풍력발전설비로 구성된 하이브리드 발전시스템의 발전특성을 예측하고 성능을 평가하는 것을 목적으로, 경상남도 통영시에 소재하는 곤리도를 대상으로 수행한 사례연구 결과이다. 연구 결과, 시각별 전력부하 변동률, 시각별 풍력 발생 변동률, 시각별 일사량 변동률 등이 서로 다르기 때문에, 단순히 전력부하측과 풍력 혹은 태양광발전설비를 1:1로 조합한다면 상호간에 불균형이 발생하여 비효율적임을 알 수 있었다. 또한 부하용량선정방법인 최대부하법과 일일부하법으로 하이브리드 발전시스템의 각 용량을 설정할 경우의 성능을 비교한 결과 두 방법 모두 축전지를 포함한 풍력발전설비만 설치했을 때가 가장 효과적인 것으로 나타났는데 이는 풍력은 태양광과 달리 24시간 지속적으로 발생하기 때문이다.

Evaluation of Solar-Diesel-Battery Hybrid System for Off-Grid Rural Electrification in Myanmar

  • A hybrid system combining renewable technologies with diesel generators is a promising solution for rural electrification. Myanmar has many renewable energy resources, and many regions that cannot be supplied with electricity from the main grid. Therefore, in this study, we select a village in Myanmar, which is located far away from the substation, and evaluate the economic feasibility of a hybrid system for the village considering the specific local conditions and resource availability. We consider a hybrid system composed of a photovoltaic source, diesel generator, battery energy storage system, and converter. The load profiles of the household data from the village, and the solar radiation profiles are determined. The advantages of the hybrid system, in terms of cost, reliability, and environmental effects are analyzed through simulations using commercial software. The simulation results show that, for the selected village in Myanmar, a hybrid system with battery energy storage can reduce the cost and greenhouse gas emissions while maintaining reliability. We also obtain an optimized design in terms of the component size for the selected hybrid system with battery energy storage.

  • This Paper focuses on modeling and simulation to analyze the characteristic of hybrid vehicle. The system includes proton exchange membrane fuel cell(PEMFC), photovoltaic generator(PV), lead-acid battery, motor, vehicle and controller. Main electricity is produced by the PEMFC and battery to meet the requirements of a user load. When vehicle is parked in a sunny place, extra power is generated by the photovotaics and is charged in a battery for next drive. Further we evaluate usefulness of this hybrid vehicle by using ADVISOR - the advanced vehicle simulator written in the Matlab/Simulink environment. According to simulation results, the extra power obtained by photovoltaics which have been explored in nature conditions can help to reduce the electrical load of PEMFC and increase the efficiency (over 30%).

고조파 저감형 하이브리드 변압기의 성능시험 (Performance Test and Design of Harmonic Reduction Hybrid Transformer)

  • Hybrid transformer means the distribution transformer, one of multi-function transformer equipped with the enhancement function of harmonics and unbalance. In other words, since existing transformer are equipped simply with transformation function only, a separated electric facility should be additionally installed in order to reduce the mutual harmonics and unbalance. Meanwhile, since hybrid transformer can perform the reduction of harmonics and unbalance as well as transformation function simultaneously through zigzag winding, it doesn't need any additional electric facility. This study addressed the issue of developing and testing the performance of a generator that would reduce the harmonics supplied to the grid when grid-connected with the output of a photovoltaic inverter for photovoltaic generation system.
