Zn$_2$SiO$_4$:Mn 녹색형광체의 입도제어 및 발광특성 (Control of Particle Size and Luminescence Property in Zn$_2$SiO$_4$:Mn Green Phosphor)

  • PDP용 녹색 형광체의 발광특성을 개선시키기 위해 고안된 액상의 화학적 합성법을 사용하여 조성식이 $Zn_{2-x}$ $SiO_4$:xMn(x=0.05, 0.08)인 형광체를 입자크기가 0.5~2$\mu\textrm{m}$로 조절하여 제조하였다. 제조된 형광체 입자는 구상이며 잘 분산된 형상을 봉주었고, 고상반응법에 비해 상대적으로 낮은 $1080^{\circ}C$에서 willemite구조의 단일상을 얻을 수 있었다. 또한 진공 자외선 영역의 147 nm의 여기원을 사용하여 광발광 특성을 조사하였다. 입자의 크기가 1$\mu\textrm{m}$이고 Mn의 도핑양이 8mole%일 때, 상용 형광체와 비교하여 발광세기는 약 40% 향상되었고 색좌표는 x=0.24, y=0.69로 거의 일치하는 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 측정된 형광체의 잔광시간은 7.8ms이었다.

Synthesis and Luminescence Properties of Sr/SmSi5N8:Eu2+ Phosphor for White Light-Emitting-Diode

  • Red-emitting nitride phosphors recently attracted considerable attention because of their high thermal stability and high color rendering index properties. For excellent phosphor of white light-emitting-diode, ternary nitride phosphor of $Sr/SmSi_5N_8:Eu^{2+}$ with different $Eu^{2+}$ ion concentration were synthesized by solid state reaction method. In this work, red-emitting nitride $Sr/SmSi_5N_8:Eu^{2+}$ phosphor was successfully synthesized by using multi-step high frequency induction heat treatment. The effects of molar ratio of component and experimental conditions on luminescence property of prepared phosphors have been investigated. The structure and luminescence properties of prepared $Sr/SmSi_5N_8:Eu^{2+}$ phosphors were investigated by XRD and photoluminescence spectroscopy. The excitation spectra of $Sr/SmSi_5N_8:Eu^{2+}$ phosphors indicated broad excitation wavelength range of 300 - 550 nm, namely from UV to visible area with distinct enhanced emission peaks. With an increase of $Eu^{2+}$ ion concentration, the peak position of emission in spectra was red-shifted from 613 to 671 nm. After via multi-step heat treatment, prepared phosphor showed excellent luminescence properties, such as high emission intensity and low thermal quenching, better than commercial phosphor of $Y_3Al_5O_{12}:Ce^{3+}$. Using $Eu_2O_3$ as a raw material for $Eu^{2+}$ dopant with nitrogen gas flowing instead of using commercial EuN chemical for $Sr/SmSi_5N_8:Eu^{2+}$ synthesis is one of characteristic of this work.

Luminescence Properties of Ba3Si6O12N2:Eu2+ Green Phosphor

  • To fabricate white LED having a high color rendering index value, red color phosphor mixed with the green color phosphor together in the blue chip, namely the blue chips with RG phosphors packaging is most favorable for high power white LEDs. In our previous papers, we reported on successful syntheses of $Sr_{2-}$ $Si_5N_8:Eu^{2+}$ and $CaAlSiN_3$ phosphors for red phosphor. In this work, for high power green phosphor, greenemitting ternary nitride $Ba_3Si_6O_{12}N_2:Eu^{2+}$ phosphor was synthesized in a high frequency induction furnace under $N_2$ gas atmosphere at temperatures up to $1400^{\circ}C$ using $EuF_3$ as a raw material for $Eu^{2+}$ dopant. The effects of molar ratio of component and experimental conditions on luminescence property of prepared phosphors have been investigated. The structure and luminescence properties of prepared $Ba_3Si_6O_{12}N_2:Eu^{2+}$ phosphors were investigated by XRD and photoluminescence spectroscopy. The excitation spectra of $Ba_3Si_6O_{12}N_2:Eu^{2+}$ phosphors indicated broad excitation wavelength range of 250 - 500 nm, namely from UV to blue region with distinct enhanced emission spectrum peaking at ${\approx}530nm$.

  • Electroluminescence is occurred when phosphor is located in electric field. In this paper, we made powder electroluminescent device (PELD) with structured ITO film/phosphor/Insulator/silver paste. The transparent electrode was ITO film and green(2704-01) and orange(2702-02) and blue-green(2703-01) were used as phosphor. The insulator was $BaTiO_3$ and $Y_2O_3$, back electrode was silver paste. To investigate electrical and optical properties of PELDs, EL spectrum, Brightness, Transferred charge density using Sawyer-Towers circuit was measured.

  • With varying rapid thermal annealing (RTA) temperature, luminescent properties of ZnMgS:Mn thin film sputter-deposited with one target were measured. Although all samples have the same composition, $Zn_{1-x}Mg_xS:Mn$ (x=0.25) can emit luminescence between 580 and 614 nm, which is controlled by only RTA temperature. It is understood that the energy band gap shift of ZnMgS:Mn thin film phosphor occurs with varying RTA temperature.

  • Nanosized and aggregated $Y_2O_3:Eu$ Red phosphors were prepared by template method from metal salt impregnated into crystalline cellulose. The particle size and photoluminescent property of $Y_2O_3:Eu$ red phosphors were controlled by variation of the calcination temperature and time. Dispersed nanosol was also obtained from the aggregated $Y_2O_3:Eu$ Red phosphor under bead mill wet process. The dispersion property of the $Y_2O_3:Eu$ nanosol was optimized by controlling the bead size, bead content ratio and milling time. The median particle size ($D_{50}$) of $Y_2O_3:Eu$ nanosol was found to be around 100 nm, and to be below 90 nm after centrifuging. In spite of the low photoluminescent properties of $Y_2O_3:Eu$ nanosol, it was observed that the photoluminescent property recovered after re-calcination. The dispersion and photoluminescent properties of $Y_2O_3:Eu$ nanosol were investigated using a particle size analyzer, FE-SEM, and a fluorescence spectrometer.

분무열분해법을 이용하여 M3MgSi2O8:Eu2+ (M=Ca, Sr, Ba) 형광체 분말의 VUV 특성 최적화 (Optimization of VUV Characteristics of M3MgSi2O8:Eu2+ (M=Ca, Sr, Ba) Phosphor by Spray Pyrolysis)

  • Spray pyrolysis was applied to prepare $M_{3}MgSi_{2}O_{8}:Eu^{2+}$ (M=Ca, Sr, Ba) blue phosphor powder. The library of a Ca-Sr-Ba ternary system was obtained by a combinatorial method combined with the spray pyrolysis in order to optimize the luminescent property under vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) excitation. 10 potential compositions were chosen from the first screening. The emission shifted to longer wavelength as Ca became a dominant element and the emission intensity was greatly reduced in the composition region at which Ba is dominant element. On the base of the first screening result, the second fine tuning was carried out in order to optimize the luminescence intensity under VUV excitation. The optimal composition for the highest luminescence intensity was $(Ca_{1.7},\;Sr_{0.3},\;Ba_{1.0})Si_{2}O_{8}:Eu^{2+}$ which had the color coordinate of (0.152, 0.072) and about 64% emission intensity of $BaMgAl_{10}O_{17}$ (BAM) phosphor.

FED용 GdOBr:Ce 청색 형광체의 제조 및 발광특성 (Preparation and Luminescent Properties of GdOBr:Ce Blue Phosphors for FED)

  • $Gd_2O_3,\;CeO_2$$NH_4Br$ 분말을 사용하여 GdOBr:Ce 형광체를 고상 반응으로 합성하였다. GdOBr:Ce 형광체는 370nm UV 여기 하에 410∼430nm의 영역에서 청색 발광스펙트럼을 보였으며, 2mol%의 Ce 농도에서 최대 발광특성을 나타냈다. FED용 형광체로의 응용 가능성을 알아보기 위해 GdOBr:Ce 형광체의 음극서 발광(CL)을 측정하였다. CL의 경우 PL과 동일한 영역인 410∼430nm에서 발광을 나타냈으며, Ce 농도가 1mol%일 때 발광의 최대치를 보였다. CL에서의 degradation 효과를 보기 위해 전자선을 10분간 조사하여 상용형광체와 비교하였다. 이로부터 GdOBr:Ce 형광체를 FED용 청색 형광체로 응용할 수 있는 가능성을 확인하였다.
