형광체 첨가에 따른 염료감응형 태양전지의 효율 변화 (Efficiency Variation of Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell Influenced by Phosphor Additives)

  • 최근 태양전지에 대한 관심이 급증하면서 염료감응형 태양전지(Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell, DSSC)에 관한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 염료감응형 태양전지에 관한 연구는 크게 $TiO_2$ 나노 결정 소재, 염료, 전해질 및 전도성 기판 등 4가지 분야로 나눌 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 염료를 흡착할 수 있는 나노결정성 $TiO_2$를 합성한 후, 이를 광전극용 페이스트(paste)에 다양한 형광물질(phosphor)의 종류 및 함량을 조절하여 첨가함으로써 염료감응형 태양전지의 효율에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 실험결과 400 nm 입자크기의 YAG계 형광체 0.5%가 첨가된 페이스트를 사용할 경우, 에너지 변환효율이 최대 8.31%에 도달함을 확인할 수 있었다.

고연색 LED용 적색 Sr2Si5N8:Eu2+ 형광체의 합성 및 발광특성 연구 (Synthesis and Luminescence of Sr2Si5N8:Eu2+ Red Phosphor for High Color-Rendering White LED)

  • Red phosphors, $Sr_2Si_5N_8:Eu^{2+}$, were synthesized as a single-phase crystal structure by optimizing carbon and $Eu^{2+}$ contents in a carbothermal reduction nitridation method. With increasing $Eu^{2+}$ contents, the photoluminescence spectra were red-shifted from 600 nm peak for 1 mol% for to 700 nm for 7 mol%. It was suggested that this red shift is attributed to the energy transfer from one low-energy sited $Eu^{2+}$ (1) to other high-energy sited $Eu^{2+}$ (2). Finally, the best red sample (620 nm emission peak and 80 nm half width for 3 mole% of $Eu^{2+}$) was packaged on a Blue LED together with two additional green and yellow phosphors, the fabricated White LED showed a high color-rendering index of 90 and white color coordinates of x= 0.321 and y = 0.305.

고발광 ${Zn_2}{SiO_4}$:Mn 형광체의 제조 및 특성 (Synthesis and Characterization of High Luminance ${Zn_2}{SiO_4}$:Mn Phosphors)

  • In order to improve luminescence prperty of phosphors, we have synthesized Zn2SiO4:Mn phosphors by a new chemical synthetic route, i.e., the homogeneous precipitation method. This method has featured that the formation of phosphoris completed at relatively low temperature of 105$0^{\circ}C$ and the particle morphology exhibits spherical shape to be well-dispersed and uniform size. At all the Mn concentration explored, phosphors prepared by this method have exhibited the improved emission intensities. In particular, the emission intensities of phosphors with Mn doping contents between 1 at% and 3.5 at% were higher about 40% than that of commercial phosphor. On the other hand, the decay time has been decreased from 23 ms to 11 ms with increasing Mn concentration. In addition, the phosphor composition containing 3 at% Mn has displayed the most saturated color.

  • The effect of zirconium dioxide ($ZrO_2$) on the properties of color conversion glasses was examined in the $BaO-ZnO-B_2O_3-SiO_2$ system. The difference in refractive index between glass and phosphor affect the optical properties of the color conversion glass because of light scattering. Reducing the difference in refractive index is a method to improve the luminous efficacy of color conversion glasses. As a reference, a type of glass that contains 25 mol% of each component was used. To increase the refractive index of the glass samples, the BaO content was increased from 25 to 40 mol%, and $ZrO_2$ was added at levels of 1, 3, and 5 mol%. Color conversion glasses were prepared by sintering a mixture of glass and 5 wt% $YAG:Ce^{3+}$ phosphor. As a result, the refractive index of the glass was found to be dependent on the BaO and $ZrO_2$ contents in the BaO-ZnO-$B_2O_3-SiO_2$ system. As the BaO and $ZrO_2$ contents were increased, the luminous efficacy of the color conversion glass was improved because the refractive index difference between the glass and the $YAG:Ce^{3+}$ phosphor decreased.

  • Phosphor contents are critical to the interfacial reaction and IMC behavior. - If content is too low, the dissolution rate will be very fast. - If content is too much, the cracks during interfacial reaction and the IMCs spalling will easily occur. The spalling of IMCs caused the brittle fracture of solder joint under shear test. IMCs from chemical reaction influences to the mechanical properties and life time. Composition changes from chemical reaction influence to the life time.

  • In this paper, we investigate the characteristics of luminous efficacy as a function of Xe partial pressure in AC PDP. SDR structure has shown much larger increment of luminous efficacy compared with the conventional one especially below 10% Xe contents. The luminous efficacy around 4.0 lm/W is achieved with Ne-Xe10%, 400Torr in Monochrome green phosphor test panel under 10kHz continuous sustaining frequency.

Eu3+와 Tb3+ 활성제 이온이 SrSnO3 형광체의 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Eu3+ and Tb3+ Activator Ions on the Properties of SrSnO3 Phosphors)

  • $SrSnO_3$ phosphor powders were synthesized with two different contents of activator ions $Eu^{3+}$ and $Tb^{3+}$ using the solid-state reaction method. The structural, morphological, and optical properties of the phosphors were investigated using X-ray diffractometry, field-emission scanning electron microscopy, and fluorescence spectrophotometry, respectively. All the phosphors showed a cubic structure, irrespective of the type and the content ratio of activator ions. For $Eu^{3+}$-doped $SrSnO_3$ phosphors, the intensity of the 620 nm red emission spectrum resulting from the $^5D_0{\rightarrow}^7F_2$ transition of $Eu^{3+}$ was stronger than that of the 595 nm orange emission signal due to the $^5D_0{\rightarrow}^7F_1$ transition in the range 0.01-0.05 mol of $Eu^{3+}$, but the ratio of the intensity was reversed in the range 0.10-0.20 mol of $Eu^{3+}$. The variation in the emission intensity indicates that the site symmetry of the $Eu^{3+}$ ions around the host crystal was changed from non-inversion symmetry to inversion. For the $Tb^{3+}$-doped $SrSnO_3$ phosphors under excitation at 281 nm, one strong green emission band at 550 nm and several weak bands were observed. These results suggest that the optimum red and green emission signals can be realized when the activator ion content for $Eu^{3+}$- or $Tb^{3+}$-doped $SrSnO_3$ phosphors is 0.20 mol and 0.15 mol, respectively.

  • The effects of $Eu^{3+}$ doping on the structural, morphological, and optical properties of $MgMoO_4:Dy^{3+},Eu^{3+}$ phosphors prepared by solid-state reaction technique were investigated. XRD patterns exhibited that all the synthesized phosphors showed a monoclinic system with a dominant (220) diffraction peak, irrespective of the content of $Eu^{3+}$ ions. The surface morphology of $MgMoO_4:Dy^{3+},Eu^{3+}$ phosphors was studied using scanning electron microscopy and the grains showed a tendency to agglomerate as the content of $Eu^{3+}$ ions increased. The excitation spectra of the phosphor powders were composed of a strong charge transfer band centered at 294 nm in the range of 230~340 nm and two intense peaks at 354 and 389 nm, respectively, arising from the $^6H_{15/2}{\rightarrow}^6P_{7/2}$ and $^6H_{15/2}{\rightarrow}^4M_{21/2}$ transitions of $Dy^{3+}$ ions. The emission spectra of the $Mg_{0.85}MoO_4$:10 mol% $Dy^{3+}$ phosphors without incorporating $Eu^{3+}$ ions revealed a strong yellow band centered at 573 nm resulting from the $^4F_{9/2}{\rightarrow}^6H_{13/2}$ transition of $Dy^{3+}$. As the content of $Eu^{3+}$ was increased, the intensity of the yellow emission was gradually decreased, while that of red emission band located at 614 nm began to appear, approached a maximum value at 10 mol%, and then decreased at 15 mol% of $Eu^{3+}$. These results indicated that white light emission could be achieved by controlling the contents of the $Dy^{3+}$ and $Eu^{3+}$ ions incorporated into the $MgMoO_4$ host crystal.

  • [ $A_{3-2x/3}Al_{1-z}In_{z}O_4F:Eu_x^{3+}$ ](A = Ca, Sr, Ba, x = -0.15, z = 0, 0.1) oxyfluoride phosphors were simply prepared by the solid-state method at $1050^{\circ}C$ in air. The phosphors had the bright red photoluminescence (PL) spectra of an $A_{3-2x/3}Al_{1-z}In_{z}O_4F$ for $Eu^{3+}$ activator. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns of the obtained red phosphors were exhibited for indexing peak positions and calculating unit-cell parameters. Dynamic excitation and emission spectra of $Eu^{3+}$ activated red oxyfluoride phosphors were clearly monitored. Red and blue shifts gradually occurred in the emission spectra of $Eu^{3+}$ activated $A_3AlO_4F$ oxyfluoride phosphors when $Sr^{2+}$ by $Ca^{2+}$ and $Ba^{2+}$ ions were substituted, respectively. The concentration quenching as a function of $Eu^{3+}$ contents in $A_{3-2x/3}AlO_4F:Eu^{3+}$ (A = Ca, Sr, Ba) was measured. The interesting behaviors of defect-induced $A_{3-2x/3}Al_{1-z}In_{z}O_{4-{\alpha}}F_{1-{\delta}}$ phosphors with $Eu^{3+}$ activator are discussed based on PL spectra and CIE coordinates. Substituting $In^{3+}$ into the $Al^{3+}$ position in the $A_{3-2x/3}AlO_4F:Eu^{3+}$ oxyfluorides resulted in the relative intensity of the red emitted phosphors noticeably increasing by seven times.

황칠, 닥나무, 꾸지뽕 혼합 추출물의 항당뇨 효과 (Antidiabetic Effects of Mixed Extract from Dendropanax morbiferus, Broussonetia kazinoki, and Cudrania tricuspidata)

  • Dengropanax morfiferus (D), Broussonitia kazinoki (B), and Cudriania tricuspidata (E), a widely cultivated species in South Korea, has been used as traditional medicine to treat numerous diseases. In this study, we evaluated the antidiabetic effects in a various signaling mechanisms using mixed extract and major component contents were analyzed by HPLC in the combined extracts from Dengropanax morfiferus, Broussonitia kazinoki, and Cudriania tricuspidata (DBCE). DBCE inhibited ${\alpha}$-glucosidase and ${\alpha}$-amylase activation and showed potent antioxidant effects, which are evaluated using DPPH, ABTS, and SOD assay. Cytokines, which are released by inflammatory cells in pancreatic islets, are involved in the pathogenesis of type 1 diabetes mellitus. DBCE showed the protective effects in RINm5F cells against cytokines-induced damage by suppressing inducible nitric oxide (NO) synthase and COX-2 expression and NO production. Insulin resistance is the primary characteristic of type 2 diabetes. Therefore, the regulatory effect of DBCE on glucose uptake and production are investigated in insulin-responsive human HepG2 cells. DBCE stimulated glucose uptake, prevented Glut2 and phosphor-IRS1 downregulation induced by high glucose (HG, 30 mM). Moreover, DBCE pretreatment diminished glucose levels, PEPCK and G6Pase overexpression provoked by HG. These findings suggest that DBCE might be used for diabetes treatment through alpha-glucosidase or alpha-amylase activity regulation, pancreatic beta cell protection, hepatic glucose sensitivity improvement. Cytokines, which are released by inflammatory cells' infiltrations around the pancreatic islets, are involved in the pathogenesis of type 1 diabetes mellitus.
