The purpose of the present study is to understand the cultural aspects of the games through the logic and methods of phenomenological study for online games and to propose phenomenological research methods to many researchers performing various studies on the characteristics, addiction, culture, nature, features and types of the players. In particular, the way was investigated to study the game culture through the logic and methods of phenomenological study. Phenomenological research methods will help how to understand the game as a way to understand the cultural context of the specific and vivid life of gamers experience and human reality. This study is expected to inspire continuously more interesting and persistent phenomenological studies of many researchers with interests in the new research methods.
The purpose of this study is to apply to the phenomenological self-evaluation method in the social welfare agency. It means that the phenomenological self-evaluation method accepts "the reality" which occurs in the social welfare setting, and functions for the social worker to play dual role of practitioner-evaluator. This paper examines two dimensions of social work evaluation theory and practice. Firstly, this study is to investigate a trend of evaluation in social work setting, and seeks theoretical aspect of phenomenological self-evaluation method, with emphasis on the strength and limit of the positivism evaluation methods. Although qualitative evaluation was suggested to make an alternative to the positivism by qualitative researchers, they did not suggest the specific methods and roles of the practitioner-evaluator. In this study, two directions of the phenomenological self-evaluation method are suggested to overcome the limitations. which are "environment-relation self-evaluation" and "program-oriented self-evaluation". Secondly, the result of phenomenological self-evaluation studies for the social welfare community center program and organization in kangnam district from June, 1994 (Program-oriented self-evaluation) to march, 2000 (Environment-relation self-evaluation) are presented. the phenomenological self-evaluation study showed the expected outcome such as; reflective self-training, making a practice knowledge, enhancing service quality, and reinforcing the identity of social welfare profession.

Purpose: This paper is a critical review of descriptive phenomenological methodology in Korean nursing research. We propose constructive suggestions for the improvement of descriptive phenomenological methodology in light of Husserl's phenomenological approaches. Methods: Using the key words of 'phenomenology,' 'experience,' and 'nursing,' we identify and analyze 64 Korean empirical phenomenological studies (selected from 282 studies) published in 14 Korean nursing journals from 2005 to 2018. The PubMed and the Korea Citation Index were used to identify the studies. Results: Our analysis shows that all the reviewed articles used Giorgi's or Colaizzi's scientific phenomenological methodology, without critical attention to Husserl's philosophical phenomenological principles. Conclusions: The use of scientific phenomenology in nursing research, which originated in North America, has become a global phenomenon, and Korean phenomenological nursing research has faithfully followed this scholarly trend. This paper argues that greater integration of Husserlian phenomenological principles into scientific phenomenological methodology in nursing research, such as participant-centered bracketing and eidetic reduction, is needed to ensure that scientific phenomenology lives up to its promise as a research methodology.

Background: While the application of procedural methods to solve the infertility problem has increased, the decline in the quality of life of women who experience infertility has been disregarded. Methods: This qualitative study used phenomenological analysis of data collected from 13 women with infertility in South Korea to reveal the subjective meaning of physical experiences perceived by women over the course of treatment. Results: Upon analyses of the treatment experiences of women with infertility in South Korea via a phenomenological analysis method, 10 themes were extracted and integrated into four theme clusters ("Perceiving infertility," "The body that gives birth," "A process in an endless tunnel," "Caring for my marginalized identity"). Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that women with infertility in South Korea perceived their own bodies as givers of birth living in traditional and patriarchal societies. A contextual flow proceeded to the final stage of women caring for their marginalized identity, which had suffered throughout the course of their infertility journey.

Phenomenological approach suggests a new dimension in landscape evaluation, which is a contrast to the existing scientific evaluation methods. The characteristics of the phenomenological approach is qualitative, holistic, open, and experiential, whereas that of the scientific approach is quantitative, reductive, closed, and experimental. In phenomenological approach, the average response of a group is not considered as meaningful in landscape evaluation. Instead, the individual response, experience, and feeling are considered as important. In phenomenological approach, people try to see the real world as it is, while scientists tend to simplify the real world in order to handle the complex Phenomena easily. Due to its holistic and qualitative nature, the phenomenological approach has limitations to be a practical landscape evaluation technique. However, recent research demonstrate the possibility of practical phenomenological landscape evaluation technique which is able to satisfy the criteria scientific methods should meet.
The aim of this study is to review phenomenological characteristics in Alvaro Siza's works through his design intention, methods and results. As a Portuguese architect, his personal and local background as well as pursuing the essence of architecture made phenomenological characteristics of his works. The emphasis of the placeness of site and the existence of architecture has close relationship with Heidegger's concept of dwelling and the role of architecture. Although Siza has maintained white plat plane of interior space which is one of features of modern architecture, he provides dramatic and dynamic experiences of space using curved and acute angle of plane in his latter part of works. Another his phenomenological nature of buildings is a striking display of space and light which is remarkable especially in his museum designs. He made this character in adopting various shapes of double ceilings, openings and their combination with natural light which he always emphasizes. As a result, Alvaro Siza's phenomenological characteristics comes not from clear architectural or philosophical theory but from continuous practice based on pursuing the essence of architecture.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to reveal the phenomenological meaning and experience of alcohol craving experienced by alcoholics through qualitative research. Methods: From November 8, 2020 to October 10, 2022, in-depth interviews were conducted with four recovering alcoholics within two years of a single week who were diagnosed with alcoholism in the past and had been hospitalized for alcoholism problems. The data were analyzed using phenomenological qualitative research methods. Results: The alcohol craving experienced by alcoholics worked in connection with the life of alcoholics. Alcohol intensity was not entirely determined by external factors, but varied by the individual's internal state and circumstances surrounding the individual, and cravings were found to be classified into when control and intervention were possible. Also, the power to neutralize alcohol cravings was a warm 'self-compassion' mind. Conclusion: This study presented a new perspective on alcohol craving, and based on this perspective, the necessity of developing an alcohol addiction prevention program and a recurrence prevention program was presented. In addition, the basis for emphasizing the necessity of complete abstinence in health education services for preventing alcohol and preventing recurrence in the community was presented.
The aim of this study is to examine the limits and problems of researchers that appear in the papers of applied qualitative research by phenomenological methods. Using phenomenological methods in the field of Pedagogy, pedagogical phenomenology is not to approach pedagogical issues that are closely related to human life through scientism or positivism, but to explain them in things themselves. The problem, however, is that cases misunderstood and distorted in the essential meaning of phenomenology are happening as domestic researchers are applying pure phenomenology(the philosophical phenomenology) to the field of phenomenology of practice(the pedagogical phenomenology). Especially, these researchers show some errors caused by lack of basic understanding about research logic and research techniques in qualitative research methodology. Thus if a researcher carry out a qualitative study by using phenomenological methods, she or he needs insights in analysing and interpreting the essence of the various phenomena appearing from the participants by comparing in with her or his own lives.
This study is to review phenomenology as a legitimate research methodology in mathematics education. Phenomenology is considered a perspective which will be able to provide varieties of viewpoints for mathematics education. Phenomenology is a research about phenomena and experience, and phenomenological research is to reveal the meanings from persons who experience something that researcher is interested in. Through such review, this study is to identify if phenomenology has potential possibility to open as a qualitative research methodology in mathematics education. In order to doing this, this study has reviewed the trend of qualitative research methods in mathematics education, major concepts of phenomenology, phenomenological attitudes for phenomenological research, and the methods and procedures for phenomenological research. The major conclusions are as the followings: the focus of lived-experience in mathematics education, the importance of recognizing life world in mathematics education, and the essence of general phenomena and the meanings of experience general in mathematics education.
The purpose of this study was to describe the differences in three phenomenological research methods used to understand the experience of families of patients with cancer and so provide as guideline to novices first attempting qualitative research. The subjects were 3 family members - spouse, daughter, daughter-in-law -of cancer patients at S-hospital. Unstructured deep interviews were carried out and taped for further analyzed. Interviews were analyzed using three phenomenological methods ; Giorgi's, Colazzi's, and Van Kaam's. The results are as follows. : The experience of family the analyzed using Giorgi's method showed different characteristics according to the family members' role. According to Colaizzi's method, they experienced burden, a willingness to care, role conflict, thanks to family and significant others, and ambivalence about treatment. Using Van Kaam's methodology, two categories were identified ; change of family function and burden. Themes in change of family function were positive attitude(9), role conflict(6), negative attitude(5), active attitude(2), and passive attitude(2) ; Themes in burden were emotional burden, physical burden, and economic burden. The result from using Giorgi's method were centered or individual characteristics and these results constituteds situational structured description and a general structured description. From Colaizzi's method the focus was on the common experience of all fo the subjects. In Van Kaam's method, subthemes (13), themes(8), and categories(2) were identified. So researchers should choose the qualitative method according to their research goals and methodological characteristics.
