  • The accident of the small vessel is increasing due to the growth of the sea and service industry. According to data from National Statistical Office, for 100 ton less than small ship accident, the most of the shipping incident generated in the small ship by 84% of the total shipping incident in 2015. The radar obligatory mounting is enforced to the small vessel in order to conclude this problem. However, the problems including the maintenance cost and transmission power etc. happens high if the existing pulse radar is mounted in the small vessel. In this development, the development is for small ship fixed type radar the object. And in this paper, by using the phase array antenna revolving electronically around the beam, the antenna which it is applicable to the marine fixed type radar which can solve above problem was made and it tested.

  • It fuses into culture of the East and the West in use of color ; colors of five direction, which had been from the Five Phase Theory in East Asia. Formative ability of color fields in a formative early Oriental Medicine history as well. Color is a very important factor and a necessary step of visible diagnosis. As a human's body is maintained and alive under the control of spirit and spirit is stored by five viscera, so spirit expresses the change of five viscera and is reflected by color. Visible diagnosis consists of spirit, appearance, Qi and color and movement. The purpose of each visible diagnosis is that we would know states of essence, Qi and spirit in patient's body. To ancient Asia people 'to see' was a kind of insight to the object as a whole. Similarily the activity of seeing the human body was the integral part of making diagnosis of a patient. This was the cause that there was suggested the discussion of the Five color theory in Oriental Medicine as a counterpart to that of the 'Goethe for Zur Farbenlehrer'. The inspection of Oriental Medicine was not a simple gazing of the eye as a sense organ, but the total insight to the internal state of the patient. For that reason, the eye-perception in early Chinese medicine was the reading the signs of the internal body which had have not the visual form but the flux of the internal life.

  • The binarization algorithm frequently applies to one part of the preprocessing phase for a variety of image processing techniques such as image recognition and image analysis, etc. So it is important that binarization algorithm is determined by the selection of threshold value for binarization in image processing. The previous algorithms could get the proper threshold value in the case that shows all the difference of brightness between background and object, but if not, they could not get the proper threshold value. In this paper, we propose the efficient fuzzy binarization method which first, segments the brightness range of gray_scale images to 2 intervals to perform car license plate binarization and applies fuzzy member function to each intervals. The experiment for performance evaluation of the proposed binarization algorithm showed that the proposed algorithm generates the more effective threshold value than the previous algorithms in car license plate.

  • Current design-build contract is the type of joint venture, but performs by separate party which causes change orders due to the lack of communication between design and construction, so it cannot lead the main object which is the integration of design and construction. Furthermore, the current design-build contract is impossible to reduce the project costs by VE at the design development phase because the design proceeds with the fixed price through bidding. Like these limitless, the analysis results of the case of VE in the design-build projects, several problems that are prevented from active design VE are elicited by the project participants. Meanwhile, Ministry of Construction & Transportation decided to enlarge the VE review system lately. Therefore, in this study, it presented model of design VE partnering of design-build and partnering agreements form to apply design VE and to try to be able to lead the design VE to be more successful in public design-build projects.

  • In this study, an improved post-processing technique for correcting MRI artifact due to the unknown respiratory motion in the imaging plane is presented. Respiratory motion is modeled by a two-Dimensional linear expending-shrinking movement. Assuming that the body tissues are incompressible fluid like materials, the proton density per unit volume of the imaging object is kept constant. According to the introduced model, respiratory motion imposes phase error, non-uniform sampling and amplitude modulation distortions on the acquired MRI data. When the motion parameters are known or can be estimatead a reconstruction algorithm based on biliner superposition method was used to correct the MRI artifact. In the case of motion parameters are unknown, first, the spectrum shift method is applied to find the respiratory fluctuation function, x directional expansion coefficient and x directional expansion center. Next, y directional expansion coefficient and y directional expansion center are estimated by using the minimum energy method. Finally, the validity of this proposed method is shown to be effective by using the simulated motion images.

  • With the object of providing a temporary artificial periodonal ligament-like membrane around the dental implant, 10 Branemark type implants were coated with commercially available chitosan(Fluka Co., Buchs, Switzerland) which has a molecular weight of 70,000 and 80% deacetylation degree. Once this bioactive hydrophillic polymer(chitosan) contacts with blood or wound fluids, it becomes swollen and penetrates into the adjacent cancellous bone. Thus the interface between implant and surrounding bone is completely filled with chitosan. This tight junction in early healing phase enhances primary stability. The chitosan coated dental implants were implanted into the fresh patella bones from porcine knees, since the thickness of cortical bone is relatively even and their cancellous structure is homogenous. To test the shock absorbing effect, 1mm delta-rogette strain gage was installed behind the implant. The results showed 1. The principal strain peak value directed to the impact of coated implant was 0.064 0.018(p<0.05) and that of uncoated implant was 0.095(0.032 p<0.05). 2. The peak time delay of coated implant was 0.056sec(0.011 p<0.05) and that of uncoated implant was 0.024sec(0.009 p<0.05). It can be reasoned from this results that the chitosan coating has a shock absorbing effect comparable with a temporary artificial periodontal ligament.

  • This paper is about an approach for pedestrian detection and tracking with infrared imagery. We used the CUDA(Computer Unified Device Architecture) that is a parallel processing language in order to improve the speed of video-based pedestrian detection and tracking. The detection phase is performed by Adaboost algorithm based on Haar-like features. Adaboost classifier is trained with datasets generated from infrared images. After detecting the pedestrian with the Adaboost classifier, we proposed a particle filter tracking strategies on HSV histogram feature that exploit adaptively at the same time. The proposed approach is implemented on an NVIDIA Jetson TK1 developer board that is full-featured device ideal for software development within the Linux environment. In this paper, we presented the results of parallel processing with the NVIDIA GPU on the CUDA development environment for detection and tracking of pedestrians. We compared the object detection and tracking processing time for night-time images on both GPU and CPU. The result showed that the detection and tracking speed of the pedestrian with GPU is approximately 6 times faster than that for CPU.

  • The main object of this study is to determine and compare the structural behavior of base isolated long span highway bridge, $G\ddot{u}lburnu$ Highway Bridge, using single concave friction pendulum (SCFP) and triple concave friction pendulum (TCFP). The bridge is seismically isolated in the design phase to increase the main period and reduce the horizontal forces with moments using SCFP bearings. In the content of the paper, firstly three dimensional finite element model (FEM) of the bridge is constituted using project drawings by SAP2000 software. The dynamic characteristics such as natural frequencies and periods, and the structural response such as displacements, axial forces, shear forces and torsional moments are attained from the modal and dynamic analyses. After, FEM of the bridge is updated using TCFP and the analyses are performed. At the end of the study, the dynamic characteristics and internal forces are compared with each other to extract the TCFP effect. To emphasize the base isolation effect, the non-isolated structural analysis results are added to graphics. The predominant frequencies of bridge non-isolated, isolated with SCFP and isolated with TCFP conditions decreased from 0.849Hz to 0.497Hz and 0.338Hz, respectively. The maximum vertical displacements are obtained as 57cm, 54cm and 44cm for non-isolated, isolated with SCFP and isolated with TCFP conditions, respectively. The maximum vertical displacement reduction between isolated with TCFP bearing and isolated with SCFP bearing bridge is %23. Maximum axial forces are obtained as 60619kN, 18728kN and 7382kN, maximum shear forces are obtained as 23408kN, 17913kN and 16249kN and maximum torsional moments are obtained as 24020kNm, 7619kNm and 3840kNm for non-isolated, isolated with SCFP and isolated with TCFP conditions, respectively.

  • In this study, shape memory alloy(SMA) wires and piezoceramic actuators(PZT's) are employed in order to generate higher modes on the beam deformations. Compressive force is generated and applied to the beam by the pre-strained SMA wires attached at both ends of the beam. PZT's apply concentrated moments to several locations on the beam. Combinations of the compressive force and concentrated moments are investigated in order to understand the higher-mode deformation of beams. The first desired mode shape is obtained by controlling the temperature of the SMA wires. The first and third mode shapes are performed experimentally by heating SMA wires up to phase transformation temperature. The adaptive wing is defined as a wing whose shape parameters such as the camber, wing twist and thickness can be varied in order to change the wing shape for various flight conditions. In this research, control of the camber has been studied. The wing model consists of three plates and many ribs. Two of the plates are placed parallel to each other and they are clamped at one edge. Third plate connects the other edges of the parallel plates together. Each rib is made of SMA wire and connected to the parallel plates. It generates concentrated force and applies to the plates in oblique directions. The PZT's are bonded onto the plates and exert concentrated moments upon the plate at several locations. The object of this research is to generate various shape of wing by combining the concentrated forces and moments.
