  • The PSP (Personal Software Process) is developed to help developers make high-quality products through improving their personal process. With consistent measurement and analysis activity that the PSP suggests, developers can identify process deficiencies and make reliable estimates on effort and quality. However, due to the high-overhead and context-switching problem of manual data recording, developers have difficulties in collecting reliable data, which can lead wrong analysis results. On the other hand, the paper-based process guides of the PSP are inconvenient to navigate its process information and difficult to attach additional information. In this paper, we introduce a PSP supporting tool developed to handle these problems. The tool provides automated data collection facilities to help acquire reliable data, an EPG (Electronic Process Guide) for the PSP to provide easy access and navigation of the process information, and an experience repository to store development experience as additional information about the process.

  • To produce quality software products, engineers must feel personally responsible for the qualify of products. Superior products are not produced by mistake; engineers must strive to do quality work. Every engineer is different and has own process improvement method. To be most effective, engineers must plan their work and they must base their plans on their own personal data. To consistently improve their performance, engineers must personally use well-defined and measured processes. The Personal Software Process(PSP) is a self-improvement process designed to help software engineers control, manage, and improve the way they work. It is a structured framework of forms, guidelines, and procedures for developing software. Properly used, the PSP provides the historical data you need to better make and meet commitments and it makes the routine elements of your job more predictable and more efficient. Then, PSP is the very useful tool to train the students in Programming Language Course. This paper is to provide the concept of PSP/TSP and the sample curriculums for Program Language Training Courses. Personal Software Process(PSP) to train students of Programming Language Courses

  • The Personal Software Process(PSP) is a rigorous, measurements based process designed to help software developers produce high-quality codes. Learning PSP requires substantial and tedious record keeping including clerical computations with plenty of data occurred at every project. The required task reduces the educational effect and motive by time consuming characteristic and easy occurrence of errors. To alleviate these problems, a web-based PSP log system having streamlined mechanism of data manipulation is designed and implemented at this study. Three years of experiment shows that the system not only improves productivity and accuracy of the process but also allows students and instructors to focus on learning and teaching PSP, rather than PSP data collection.

  • The ability to trace change history and dependency relations of software artifacts which are continuously changed has been recognized as an important factor that support quality management activities such as verification, validation, and testing in software system development process. General software configuration management systems provide tracing information for artifacts only within the configuration management system, and it does not go further to changes that occur within personal workspace. This paper provides a solution that helps tracing down not only changes of configuration items but also change history of artifacts existent in personal workspace through the integration of configuration management system and personal workspace. Furthermore, in cases of artifacts which are included in a configuration item, this paper provides a solution that support tracing dependency relations between the artifacts by identifying their version links. For the integration of configuration management system and personal workspace, a revision of configuration item is connected to the artifact's version of the workspace by the tagging mechanism, and traceability for change history and dependency relations of artifacts can be managed more effectively through integrated change process.

  • Software process improvement has been one of the most important ways to improve the quality of software and the effectiveness and efficiency of software development organization. During the past 10 years, more than 5,000 organizations have adopted the SW-CMM and many other organizations have adopted similar process models. IEEE and international standards are evolving to encourage and support continued process improvement. The Software Engineering Institute is committed to broadening the benefits of software process improvement to the entire engineering organization through a new model called CMM Integration and to enable faster improvement through the Personal Software Process and the Team Software Process. The SEI is also committed to working with its colleagues in Korea so that industry can reap the benefits from this important and exciting work.

  • A system using a personal computer has been developed for Polymerase Chain Reaction, an amplifying process of specific DNA. This system is composed of software and hardware which contains a control system, a heating and cooling system, a multichannel A/D converter, and a personal computor. The software is programmed'in assembly'and basic language. The newly developed PCR system which is controlled by the program of the personnal computor can be applied 1.o the amplification of various DNA. This system was tested by using Mycobacterium tuberculosis DNA and showed the DNA band on the UV transilluminator.

  • E-textile technology has earned a great deal of interest in many fields; however, existing wearable network protocols are not optimized for use with conductive yarn. In this paper, some of the basic properties of conductive textiles and requirements on wearable personal area networks (PANs) are reviewed. Then, we present a wearable personal network (WPN), which is a four-layered wearable PAN using bus topology. We have designed the WPN to be a lightweight protocol to work with a variety of microcontrollers. The profile layer is provided to make the application development process easy. The data link layer exchanges frames in a master-slave manner in either the reliable or best-effort mode. The lower part of the data link layer and the physical layer of WPN are made of a fabric serial-bus interface which is capable of measuring bus signal properties and adapting to medium variation. After a formal verification of operation and performances of WPN, we implemented WPN communication modules (WCMs) on small flexible printed circuit boards. In order to demonstrate the behavior of our WPN on a textile, we designed a WPN tutorial shirt prototype using implemented WCMs and conductive yarn.
