Information Suppression and Projection Strategies Depending on Personality Traits: Using Social media for Impression Management (사용자의 성격에 따른 정보의 통제와 투사 전략: 인상관리를 위한 소셜미디어의 활용)

  • As social media started to work as important communication tools, social media users have tried to manage their image, identity, and impression through social media. Social media service providers have been interested in providing various functions effectively disclosing users' emotion, such as posting, commenting, and sharing content; on the other hand, relatively few efforts have been made to provide social media functions for information suppression. In this study, therefore, we attempt to examine the relationship between Facebook users' personality and impression management behaviors. Personal traits of users including public self-consciousness, positive self-expression, and honest self-expression were considered as independent variables. Impression management behaviors are composed of two variables, which are suppression and projection. The survey was conducted, targeting 230 Facebook users. The research findings show that public self-consciousness and positive self-expression are positively associated with information suppression while both positive and honest self-expression is positively associated with information projection.

Implementation of Social Network Services for Providing Personalized Nutritious Information on Facebook (개인화 영양정보 제공을 위한 소셜 네트워크 서비스 활용방안)

  • Personalized data of users at social network service can be used as a new resource for providing personalized nutrition information. Although providing personalized information for nutrition using social data, there are a few studies on providing personalized nutrition information with customized user preference based on social network service. The purpose of this study is to implement the clustering of data analysis with collected personal data of Facebook users. To find out the method for providing personalized information, this study described an effective method for providing nutrition information by analyzing web posting on Facebook that can be called a typical social network service. According to the result from clustering, sodium and sugars were important variables from diet of user. Furthermore, the importance of elements of user's diet has some differences according to vendor/manufactures.

A Study on the affecting factors of Kakao Bank usage in terms of service types (서비스 유형에 따른 카카오뱅크 이용 영향 요인에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the adoption of Kakao Bank in terms of benefits (functional, social, experiential, economic benefits) and differentiated services (customization and service diversity) considering service types. Benefits are personal value consumers attach to the product or service attributes and, therefore, more important than attributes of service itself when using Kakao Bank in the internet based environment. Data was collected using an online and offline survey of 131 Kakao Bank users and analyzed the data using structural equation model (SEM). The results of empirical analysis using SmartPLS show that functional benefit, experiential benefit, and customization are significantly related to the user's satisfaction, but economic benefits, social benefit, and service variety are not. Customer's satisfaction are also showed significantly to be related to the all types of Kakao Bank usage(balance check, transfer, and other services). This study has the significance in that it examines the user's satisfaction and usage of Kakao Bank in terms of benefits and differentiated services while other studies analyzed banking services focusing on the attributes of banking channel itself.

The Relationship between Risk Perception and Purchasing Behavior of Clothing Gift among Adult Women (성인 여성의 의류선물 구매시 위험지각과 구매행동간의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between perceived risk and purchasing behavior of clothing gift among adult women. Data were collected from 258 adult women reside in Kwangiu who have ever been to purchase clothing gift during recent six months using a qusetionaire. Frequency Analysis, Factor Analysis, Correlation Analysis, T-test were carried out in the collected data. The findings were as follows; 1. The types of risks that respondents perceived when they purchased clothing gift were identified as practical-economic risk, the social-psychological risk, the fashionable risk and the time-refunding risk. 2. The higher the self-satisfaction motivation was, the higher the social-psychological risk and the higher the practical motivation was, the higher the practical-economic risk (P<.001). 3. The degree of the perceived risks of the Low Planning Group was higher than that of the High Planning Group (P<.001). 4. When the respondents perceived social-psychological risk high, they considered brand, fashionability, and store type as more important selective criteria and when the practical-economic risk perceived high, practicality, store service were conidered more important (P<.05). 5. When respondents perceived social-psychological and fashionable risk high, they used both personal information and non-personal information high (P<.01). Effect of MMS Addiction on User's Health and Academic Performance in an Era of Convergence (융복합 시대에 모바일 메신저 서비스 중독이 사용자들의 건강과 학업 성과에 미치는 영향)

  • Given social problems of service addiction such as mobile messenger services(MMSs), many studies on service management and information systems have examined the negative outcomes of service addiction. MMS addiction significantly influences user's health and academic performance. In this regard, this study investigated the effects of MMS addiction on user's health and academic performance problems. We posit personal traits and service features as key antecedents of MMS addiction. The research framework was tested by using survey data collected from 162 university students who have frequently used Kakaotalk. The analysis results found that MMS addiction significantly influences users' health and academic performance problems. The findings of this study indicate that self-esteem and self-control play an important role in generating MMS addiction. While attention significantly affects MMS addiction, social relationship formation and perceived enjoyment are not significantly associated with MMS addiction. The analysis results help MMS providers and government establish policies or guidelines to induce healthy MMS use.

  • SNS provider's biggest interest lies in enhancing user satisfaction through user request analysis and developing services to induce continuous use of those devices. In particular, setting up management directions to develop SNS at maturity is important and it is also important to identify the functions which SNS users are pursuing for and identify what's considered unsatisfiable among the services currently provided in light of user expectations. To this end, this study further presents sociality quality and personal emotional quality reflecting the characteristics of SNS to the existing quality factors and expands to Expected Confirmation Model. This study further took into account of sociality quality and personal emotional quality reflecting the characteristics of SNS and approached to them from the perspective of quality in a comprehensive way, analyzed the degree of impact on recognition factors, and presented the factors that had an impact on the satisfaction with usage and intention to use continuously.

  • Social individualized broadcasting increases rapidly in an environment that combines communication and broadcasting. Real-time individualized broadcasting is a service that is provided by multiple individuals to many and unspecified persons. In contrast, newly introduced individualized broadcasting service is a service that has not been experienced socially and culturally and therefore many problems are expected. The newly emerging real-time individualized broadcasting service may bring about various dysfunctions as well as desirable functions. Establishment of guideline and its implementation based in vulnerability analysis are necessary to prevent the expected dysfunctions and reinforce the desirable functions. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to examine dysfunctions of the information-oriented society which threaten cyber-norms, cyber-morality, cyber-dangers, cyber-democracy, etc. at the level of social individualized broadcasting service and to propose appropriate guidelines. Through this paper, first, future changes of dysfunctions of the information-oriented society due to individualized broadcasting service can be forecast, and countermeasures and policy directions can be proposed. Second, Dysfunctions of ICT-based service that may emerge in individualized broadcasting service can be forecast and correct guideline can be prepared to reduce potential dangers and increase desirable functions of the service. This paper will analyze in various aspects the characteristics of a new media with the focus on individualized broadcasting service among the new ICT-integrated services, and forecast the appearance and aggravation of the dysfunctions and then draw the guideline.

Nurse의s Perception in the Homecare Needs of Cancer Patient (간호사가 지각한 암환자의 퇴원후 가정간호요구)

  • The purpose of this descriptive study was to identify the homecare needs of the discharged patient with cancer as perceived by nurses caring hospitalized cancer patients. At two hospitals in Gyeongnam, 74 nurses responded to an open-ended questionnaire consisting of four need categories : 1) educational & informational need, 2) physical need, 3) emotional need, 4) social need. Respondents were asked to list above ten needs of cancer patient in each category. Two researchers analyzed the data by content analysis method. The findings are summarized as follows : 1) A total of 1,417 need items were generated by nurses. The largest number of needs were in the educational & informational need category(475 items, 36.3%). Physical(414 items, 31.6%), emotional (237 items, 18.1%) need were the second, third largest, and social(184 items, 14.0%) need made up the smallest category. 2) In the educational & informational need category, there were seven subcategories of prognosis, diet & exercise, medication & pain, wound care, folk remedy, personal hygiene, comfort. The need items related to prognosis of cancer accounted for almost a half(48.2%) of the total. 3) In the physical need category, there were ten subcategories of personal hygiene, skin & tissue, nutrition, side effect on treatment, exercise, pain, elimination, equipment, comfort & safety, others. The largest number of needs were in subcategory of the personal hygiene(82 items, 19.8%). 4) In the emotional need category, there were four subcategories of emotional support related to disease, emotional support related to routine life, spiritual support, maintenance of relationship with nurse & doctor. The largest number of needs were in subcatgory of the emotional support related to disease(96 items, 40.5%). 5) In the social need category, there were five subcategories of support for social life, household management, legal support, the use of volunteer service, financial support. The largest number of needs were in support for social life subcategory(58 items, 31.5%).

Community-Residing Elderly's Attitude toward Own Aging and Effects of Personal Resources, Social Support, and Social Participation: Focused on Elderly in Daejeon Metropolitan City (지역사회 노인의 자신의 노화에 대한 태도와 개인자원, 사회적 지지, 사회참여가 미치는 영향: 대전광역시 거주 노인을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the attitude toward own aging among community-residing elderly and the predictors of the attitude focusing on personal resources, social support, and social participation. Data were collected from 198 elders aged 60+ with the cooperation of several social service center for the aged, senior centers, and senior citizen associations in Daejeon Metropolitan City. SPSS 22.0 software was used for descriptive analysis, correlation analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis. The results showed that (1) the research participant elderly's attitude toward own aging indicated fairly negative perception of their own aging; (2) self-esteem and economic status were statistically significant factors indicating the higher levels of self-esteem and economic status predicting the positive attitude of their own aging; (3) emotional support from family was statistically significant factor that predicted the positive attitude of their own aging; (4) the level of social participation was also statistically significantly associated with the positive attitude; (5) In the full model of all independent variables, the significance of emotional support from family and social participation disappeared, but self-esteem and economic status among personal resources remained statistically significant influential factors. Based on the findings, suggestions for social welfare policy and practice to improve community-residing elderly's positive attitude toward their own aging were discussed.

  • Since 2008, large-scale personal information breach incidents have occurred frequently. Even though national education, policy, and laws have been enacted and implemented to resolve the issue, personal information breaches still occur. Currently, individuals cannot confirm detailed information about what personal information has been affected, and they cannot respond to the breaches. Therefore, it is desirable to develop various methods for preventing and responding to personal information infringement caused by breach and leakage incidents and move to privacy protection behaviors. The purpose of this study is to create understanding of personal information security and information breach, to present services that can prevent breaches of personal information, to investigate the necessity of and analyze the potential public demand for such services, and to provide direction for future privacy-related information services.
