This exploratory research explores the concept of a digital legacy as a general concept and as a collection of digital possessions with unique characteristics. The results reported in this article are part of a larger study. In Cushing (2013), the author identified the characteristics of a digital possession. In this study, these characteristics of a digital possession were utilized to explore how the characteristics of several digital possessions could form a collection, or a digital legacy. In addition to being explored as a collection of digital possessions, data was collected about the general concept of a digital legacy. In part I of the study, 23 participants from three age groups were interviewed about their general concept of a digital legacy. Five general characteristics describing a digital legacy were identified. In part II of the study, interview data from Cushing (2013) was used to create statements describing digital possessions. The statements were classified utilizing the archival concept of primary and secondary values, as well as the consumer behavior concepts of self extension to possessions and possession attachment. Primary value refers to the purpose for which the item was created, while secondary value refers to an additional value that the participants can perceive the item to hold, such as a perception that an item can represent one's identity. Using standard Q method procedure, 48 participants were directed to rank their agreement with 60 statements (written on cards), along a distribution of -5 to +5, according to the characteristics of the digital possession they would most like to maintain for a digital legacy. The ranked statements were analyzed using Q factor analysis, in order to perceive the most common statements associated with maintaining digital possessions for a digital legacy. Q method results suggested that most individuals described the digital possessions they wanted to maintain for a digital legacy using various combinations of characteristics associated with primary and secondary values. This suggests that while some participants will respond to personal archiving based on the concept of preserving identity (a perceived secondary value), this will not appeal to everyone. Information professional could consider this difference in appeal when marketing personal archiving assistance to patrons.

스마트폰(Smartphone)은 휴대 전화(Mobilephone) 기반에 개인용 정보 단말기(PDA: Personal Digital Assistance)의 장점을 합친 고기능, 다기능의 신개념 휴대 정보통신기기이며, 현재 계속하여 데이터 통신 기능은 물론 카메라, MP3 플레이어 기능 등 기존 휴대폰의 영역을 훨씬 넘어 PC의 영역에 범접하는 다양한 디지털 컨버전스가 이루어지고 있다. 이런 이유로 스마트폰 제조사예서는 기존 휴대 전화기에 비해 훨씬 많아진 정보의 양에 비해 상대적으로 좁은 크기의 액정 화면에 다양한 기능을 표시할 수밖에 없게 되었고, 그 결과 최종 사용자들은 화면 구성이 복잡한 스마트폰을 경험하게 되었다. 본 연구의 목적은 기존 스마트폰의 복잡한 기능중심 화면 표시 중에서 특히 아이콘(Icon)의 형태를 사용자 중심(User Oriented)의 아이콘으로 개선하는 방안을 제안하고, 이의 정략적 개선 효과를 검증하는데 있다. 본 연구는 2 단계의 실험 과정을 거쳐 수행되었으며, 첫 번째 실험에서는 스마트폰의 최종 사용자들 대상으로 평면적인 아이콘과 입체적인 아이콘의 정보 전달 효율성을 비교 측정하고, 두 번째 실험에서는 아이콘과 텍스트의 결합 유무에 따른 정보 전달 효율성을 측정하여, 2 단계의 실험 과정을 통해 분석한 아이콘의 최적 형태를 도출하였다. 본 연구에서는 측정한 실험 결과를 통하여 텍스트와 그래픽의 형식이 결합된 입체적인 아이콘의 형태가 최종 사용자를 위한 정보 전달에 있어 가장 효율적인 아이콘 형태임을 알 수 있었다.

본 논문에서는 Personal Area Network (PAN)을 구성하는 모바일 디바이스에서의 전자서명 생성 및 검증을 위한 계산상 오버헤드를 감소시키는 효율적인 인증 프로토콜을 제안한다. 특히, 제안 프로토콜은 일회용 전자서명 기법을 사용함으로써 전통적인 공개키 전자서명 연산을 제거하였으며, 제한된 컴퓨팅 능력을 가진 모바일 디바이스를 위해 기 제안된 인증 프로토콜과 달리 서명 서버의 지원없이 전자서명 생성 및 검증을 수행할 수 있다. 또한, 제안 프로토콜은 PAN에서 모바일 디바이스들의 인증서 상태 관리를 위한 통신 및 계산상 오버헤드를 경감시키기 위해 해쉬체인에 기반한 간략화된 인증서 상태 검증 절차를 제공한다.

Recently PDA(Personal Digital Assistance) can be purchased at a lower cost than ever before. Therefore, it can be effectively used in various ways such as a personal information management system and wireless mobile internet application. Manufacturers of PDA try to develope various application modules for its extensive utilizations. In this work, a CF typed GPS and data logger module for PDA is designed. It can give us valuable informations about the precise position of measuring site and corresponding sensor values. The proposed CF module can make it possible for PDA to be used as a hand-held measurement device.

This paper represents the mobile robot control system remote controlled by PDA(personal digital assistance). So far, owing to the development of internet technologies, lots of remote control methods through internet have been proposed. To control a mobile robot through internet and guide it under unknown environment, We propose a control method activated by PDA. In a proposed system, PDA acts as a user interface to communicate with notebook as a controller of the mobile robot system using TCP/IP protocol, and the notebook controls the mobile robot system. The information about the direction and velocity of the mobile robot feedbacks to the PDA and the PDA send new control method produced from the fuzzy inference engine.

Recently, as mobile paradigms such as telematics or LBS (Location Based Service) have been being more diverse and mobile devices such as PDA (Personal Digital Assistance) or several telematics terminals have been being used more widely, mobile services, for example, mobile geographic information service have been being put more importance by people. In this paper, we propose to adopt S/W and data streaming mechanism as a method to improve performance of mobile geographic information service which is a representative of mobile services based on client-server architecture. The show the effectiveness of proposed methods, we design and implement S/W streaming prototype system and sample mobile geographic information service to be executed on the S/W streaming system.

휴대형 장비를 이용해서 다양한 정보를 취득하고자 하는 요구가 증가되고 있으며, 특히 휴대형 전화기나 PDA(Personal Digital Assistance)를 이용한 웹정보에 대한 접근이 크게 요구되고있다. 기존의 유선망 중심의 전자상거래기반을 무선망으로 전환하는 계기가 될 것이다. 또한 데이터 전송속도나 이동성의 보장으로 전자상거래의 영역을 더욱 확대시킬 것이다. 본 논문에서 소개되는 HDML(Handhold Device Markup Language)은 휴대용 장비로부터 효과적인 웹의 접근을 위한 언어로서, 현재 상용화를 위한 HDML 응요업무의 제작이 전 세계적으로 급속도로 이루어지고 있는 상황에서, HDML에 관련된 기술의 습득 및 지원도구 개발은 매우중요하다. 따라서 본고에서는 M-commerce의 현황, 관련 요소기술들, 비즈니스 모델을 알아보고, 이를 기반으로 M-commerce의 서비스 제공시 고려사항 및 개념모델에 대한 DB 연동 DHML Server를 구축하려 한다.

In this paper, an integration tool for the factory automation communication is proposed. It can apply to three kinds of Fieldbus, Manufacturing Message Specification and Personal Digital Assistance based systems in the factory environment. This paper focuses on the development of the testing tool and object-oriented design concepts for the synthesis of communication modules from the factory level to the field level. The integration of each communication module in the distributed environment gains importance for the realization of heterogeneous information processing systems.

We developed a portable urodynamics monitoring system using personal digital assistance (PDA) and proposed a new method for measuring the abdominal pressure in non invasive mode using surface EMG signals. This system is consisted of a signal conditioning and control module and could measure the vesical, abdominal and detrusor pressure. The result showed a high correlation coefficient between the practical abdominal pressure, using a conventional rectal catheter and the estimated values, by our proposed algorithm (r=0.81). This system should prove a useful tool in the future evaluations of ambulatory urodynamics monitoring study.

최근 이동통신 기술의 발전으로 이동통신 서비스의 발전과 함께 휴대폰과 노트북, PDA(Personal Digital Assistance)를 이용하여 무선 인터넷 이용자가 증가하고 있다. 또한 이를 이용한 뱅킹 서비스, 주식 거래, 온라인 쇼핑 등의 전자상거래가 급속하게 발전하고 있다. 그러므로 무선 인터넷 환경에서 안전한 서비스를 제공하기 위해 유선 인터넷 환경에서와 같은 보안 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 무선 PKI(WPKI:Wireless Public Key Infrastructure)의 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 그러나 무선 인터넷 환경이 갖는 특수성과 사용하는 단말기의 제약 사항들로 인해 유선 인터넷 환경과는 달리 여러 문제점들이 있다. 이러한 무선 인터넷 환경에서의 문제점들을 해결하기 위해 사용자가 쉽게 사용할 수 있는 보안모듈의 필요성이 대두되었다. 현재 대표적인 보안 모듈로는 스마트 카드 방식과 USB 기반 방식이 있으며, 본 고에서는 각 방식들에 관한 관련표준과 최근 제품 동향에 대해 언급하고, 사용자 보안 모듈의 향후 전망에 대하여 살펴보도록 한다.
